200 bucks for a 2GB iPod, that's pretty nice. But which iPod?
postcount++

I'd buy an iPod but they're like, $1000 for 500mb here.

The more awsome these new devices look, the more scratched and fingerprints they are gonna get. Remember when things used to be plastic? Nothing would scratch that stuff! I'd gladly get some scratches just to get away from those plastic shells on the old Gameboys and other electronics.

Does anyone know if the original iPod was made of metal or what?

I predict they will make an even smaller one, with about 256mb and call it the iPod USB. It will be completely useless, but it will still be shiny.

I was thinking of a similar idea. Make an MP3 player that just plays from those USB memory sticks or hard drives. Then it can have whatever capacity you want.

I'd love to get a Nano at some point. I've wanted a truly lightweight and unobtrusive mp3 player for a while because I like listening to music when I work out. When you're jogging, anything noticeably bulky or heavy gets really annoying really quickly, especially if there's no good way to carry it. I got a Rio about four years ago, but I didn't use it much because there wasn't any nice secure case or armband for it, and it was enough of a lump that it got on my nerves when I put it in my pocket. In contrast, a Nano is basically nothing, and you can buy an armband that makes carrying it a non-issue. Also, I don't have any particular interest in carrying ginormous amounts of music around with me (or using a mp3 player as a portable drive for giant piles of data), so I wouldn't use the massloads of space on larger-capacity mp3 players, and the Nano would be fine for general-purpose mp3 listening as well.

Cool, but that's not what I mean at all. Its memory is still soldered in. I mean a player where you put one of those memory sticks like this one in it. Then it can have whatever capacity you want. (I guess you could just use a memory card too... I don't think those were affordable when I thought of that though.)

Hmm... but the new iPods don't scratch any MORE than the other ones; it's made from exactly the same material too. It's just that black shows it better. Kinda like black cars are pretty notorious for showing dust and dirt better

Anyways, if you scratch your iPod, you CAN use Brasso to bring it back to a nice sheen. However, I wouldn't do that a lot, and I recommend putting it in a protective sleeve afterwards.

A few scratches have been popping up here and there, and I just found out about the Brasso trick. I have yet to try it out, though.

HyperHacker: The GP2X uses SD cards... and it's upper limit in card is 4GB, even though SD should theoretically have up to 8GB Not like that's much of a problem anyway

GP2X is packed full of pure awesome, too...

Meh, I got extreemly lucky and found a 2GB Memorex MHD8021 on sale at Target for about $80.
Its bigger than the Nano and not as pretty but I dont really care since it will spend most of its time in my pocket alongside my DS anyway.

That's a game system though isn't it? If I want to play MP3s on a game system, I'll buy one of those players for my DS.

Do those DS players work well? I stopped trusting non-Nintendo made accessories a long time ago.

GP2X is like PSP only 100x times better.

Yeah, it can play games (Doom and Quake ports already done, before official release date (Oct 15)!) and movies and music and all sorts of junk.
