My father just purchased a black 4 GB iPod Nano. Its really pimp. I mean, its totally the best iPod... Until they release a smaller one next year. Its like really thin and stuff. I'm sure it would be a more pleasent experience if I was using a Mac to upload stuff to it... Oh well. What do you guys think 'bout this iPod Nano? |

The guys at Ars Technica destroy and pull apart one as well. It's pretty funny, they run it over with a car and everything. I'd like a Nano, but I have money issues right now, so it's not going to happen. :-/ |

I'd certainly like an iPod, but I'm not paying that much for one. I'd rather get a GBA Media Player. They can play video too, and if you hack your DS, you can run homebrew off them, so you could have an MP3/video player that uses the DS's power for better quality.

id never pay for an ipod..especially a nano, $250, for 1000 songs, and there isnt even 1000 songs I would like, so it just isnt worth it in my opinion, also, the first batch was said to have really bad screens, that scratch and chip.

I just read through this thread and decided to look for it, and I found a link on the very site you linked to For the sake of convenience, click here to read it I'm not really one for destroying things, but that was still an interesting read. As for the topic of the thread, although the iPod Nano does look neat, I can't say that I want one. Reasons being that I haven't read a whole lot about them, but seeing things that say the screen scratches easily and such are sort of discouraging. The price is another factor in my decision. I've got far too many games to worry about having enough money to get as of right now In short, it does look interesting, but I don't want one. |

I would probably not touch Nano, as I heard it have scratch problems. And if there is somtehing I don't like, it's scratches. :/

I don´t like scratches either but it´s not that much of a problem if it isn´t on the display. How much does it cost? I´ve thought of buying an mp3 player/USB memory combo, though. |

Then why not to use a protection layer, a plastic one, maybe a mica one. It wouldn't look so pretty though, but it'll work as a protection in the end. Some LCD monitors in my university lab use them.

I haven't really noticed any scratches on it. I don't think mine is of the first batch of them, because it took me like three weeks to get a hold of them. Best Buy was all out one day, but magically, they recieved more. Anyways, 2GB ones are $200. |

That's the first iPod I find appealing, not gonna get one thought. Just looking at the price, I don't think it's worth it. |

As far as I know all iPod's come with picture support nowadays (except for the iPod Shuffle of course). Btw, did you know some people succeeded in installing a Linux OS on the iPod, and managed to play Doom on it ? http://www.ipodlinux.org http://www.ipodlinux.org/Doom |

Another interesting piece of information -- there's a LCD problem with some of the Nanos -- if yours has the problem (the screen just cracks for no apparent reason) then return your Nano, Apple recognise this as a flaw caused by LCD screens from their vendor... Also, the black ones show scratches and fingerprints more than the white ones And clients are complaining Idjits. |

I want an ipod. And the nano is the only one that comes in black, which looks AWESOME... plus 4 GB would probably be enough for me. I love how small and compact it is. I'd love to get one of these one day, or maybe a mini... I'd take anything really.

2GB = $200 4GB = $250 Well, let's compare that to system RAM prices... a lot bigger, mass manufactured, a lot less complex, and cheaper to make... 2GB for $186.00 (2 sticks as opposed to 1 tiny chip) 4GB for 1029.95 (2 sticks as opposed to 1 tiny chip) 2GB of PC RAM is $14 cheaper than a 2GB iPod Nano. And about the same length and width as 2 sticks next to each other (I bet the Nano is shorter albeit thicker). Cost-wise, I think Apple is insane for offering this thing for like $100 less than I'd sell it for in 2GB, and $150 less than what I'd sell it for in 4GB versions, and people would still pay for it because it's one hell of a great deal. I hate Apple PCs, but I love their iPods. |

...2GB costs $186, and 4GB costs $1029? 200 bucks for a 2GB iPod, that's pretty nice. But which iPod? |
