Just rented this last time i was at work. For those of you who don't know, it stars Bruce Campbell as an aging Elvis (with his trusty "sidekick", a crazy black guy who thinks he's JFK) in a nursing home, fighting against a soul-sucking mummy with a fedora (who is aptly dubbed as bubba ho-tep by Elvis). Definetly worth a watch. Bruce Campbell does an amazing job as elvis (the same humor that you'd expect from the guy), the soundtrack is pretty cool, and plus, its really funny seeing a guy with bad hip attempt kung-fu, and fail miserably. It's quite good. |

Hmm, I´ve seen the title of this movie several times and I knew it was about a mummy but not about Elvis. Is this a parody? I might give it a try. |

It's a GREAT movie. One of my favorites. I've seen it plenty of times. Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis are excellent in it. It was made on a super low budget, but it looks freaking incredible. Just goes to prove that even now, you don't have to have a gigantic Hollywood budget to make a great looking film. Well, and a lot of foreign movies prove that as well, 'cos I'm sure most of those movies don't have the amount of money goin' for 'em as Hollywood movies do. According to IMDb, The Fifth Element is the most expensive movie produced outside of Hollywood. And yeah, the music score is neat. Now I wanna see Don Coscarelli's Phantasm. It's supposed to be one of those horror movie greats from the '70s/'80s period, I think. I really hope that Bubba Nosferatu gets realized. I guess Coscarelli's still raising money for it. It'll be great if this movie gets made (it's a prequel of sorts, and it's mentioned at the end of the Bubba Ho-tep credits). |
