This game looks amazing and it's coming out in nine days...

I know I made a thread earlier about this game but it was mostly a spoiler thread so I didn't expect that to get popular, so I made this one.

The game is currently out in Europe and Japan, and comes out October 4th for Americans.

Discuss!

I'm getting this game if I get good grades which I find next week.

If you have this month's NP, it has a section for Castlevania that includes shows all the bosses and recommended souls for the battle. There's even a map of the castle in tihs issue. This game also already has a rating which is a 9 out of 10.

Ratings so far...

Famitsu - 33/40
Nintendo Power - 9/10
GamePro - 4.5/5
Planet Gamecube - 9.5/10
Games are Fun - 10/10
MobileTechReview - 4.75/5

Looks like a good game to me... a lot of lucky people on GameFAQs who got the Japanese version early said the game SURPASSES Symphony of the Night in every way except of music, since it's a lesser format.

I've seen the game played on an actual DS screen and it runs so fluid it's not even funny, the animation and parallax scrolling looks amazing, and the "bonus modes" are fantastic! It even has three unique endings. Let's all not forget that there's been many claims of this game having actual challenge.

I got the game last Friday, and it was worth every penny. I have some beefs with it though, the artist from the earlier games is gone and replaced by really generic manga artwork, and the touch-screen features mostly just feel dumb and forced. The game would have been just fine without it.

Like AoS, you have a very varied selection of weaponry so you can choose a style which suits you the best. You can also upgrade your weapons with certain souls. I've upgraded my brass knuckles twice now and so far it's my favourite weapon. I pwned the Puppet Master boss with it, but the limited range presents a problem with the next boss...

I never heard of this game before now. (I'm not exactly "with it" when it comes to game news.) So I looked it up...and damn, now I'm thinking that I'll need to go get a DS. Randy and I hadn't been particularly interested in either of the new handhelds...but I'm such a Symphony of the Night fangirl that I would consider purchasing a DS just for this. *covets* And there evidently will be a Dynasty Warriors game for the DS. If that's any good, then there goes my main reason for leaning toward the PSP.

As Hiryuu and I were saying the other day... we lament the fact that there's no working DS emulator yet.

I've been playing through Circle of the Moon like crazy recently so... yeah, I guess I could use something new. Sounds fantastic.

The DS is actually developing a solid lineup. Besides the obvious Nintendogs, you should research a bit on the upcoming Lost in Blue. Looks fantastic. I've heard good things about Trace Memory, though I've also heard it's short.

Well, consider the touchscreen. While a mouse could technically emulate it, it's really not quite the same. I've always had a problem with ROMs where they don't quite give the feel of playing the real game on console. A DS emulator would have like, 10x that effect.

Dawn of Sorrow certainly looks superb, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get it right away. I'm still playing Advance Wars DS (Despite being over 100 hours into it), as well as Jump Super Stars. Plus, Lunar DS is coming out at the same time as it. While Castlevania appears to be the better game, I kind of want at least one RPG on my DS, and it doesnt look like SquareEnix is in any rush to translate Egg Monster Heroes.

Oh, trust me. We know of the inherent problems in emulating the DS, sadly.

But I dunno how intensive the touch screen stuff is in CV... my guess is "not very". I know for sure Dual Strike can be played without the screen. Some games won't suffer when the inevitable happens.

I recall seeing a video of CV where there was some ice or something blocking the path, and it had to be broken by scratching at it on the touchscreen. Nothing too big. Yeah, Dual Strike can easily be played without the touch screen (minus combat mode), but many of the other good games really require it. (I'm looking at you, Kirby)

Well, I don't think Kirby can be played any other way. Trust me, I'd love to play it someday but I think that even with a mouse... It'll be tough.

Either the game doesn't use the screen, it uses it as a gimmick or it needs it. Pretty cut and dry given all the DS games released so far.

I've been waiting for this game forever.

One thing that's really got me hyped, was hearing several sources note "It's supposed to be even bigger than SoTN", which is easily among my top favorite games, so for me, that's saying a lot.

I've seen the screens myself, and the game just looks beautiful.

Like everyone already said in this thread, this game has already gotten so many incredible reviews.

I'll probably be picking this game up the day it comes out, and finally put my DS to some use!

The sad thing is I have never completed Aria of Sorrow all the way through, and the bad thing is I can never find a copy of it anywhere, same with Harmony of Disonance, I -always- see copies of Circle of the Moon, but nothing else for the GBA.

But oh well, I just can't pass this game up even if I haven't completed it's first entry.

I highly reccomend that you finish Aria of Sorrow so you can learn the big plot twist if you haven't learned about it already, or else you're going to go "WTF!?" when you start to play Dawn of Sorrow.

Don't blame you for not finishing Harmony. It's not a *bad* game or anything but it's definitely the weak link of the three GBA games. Worth playing but if you had a choice, Aria and Circle are the ones to tackle.

It's just like the past games, it depends on how much time you spend on getting better equipment and gaining levels. I'm level 73 and have the best great sword, knuckles, spear, club and short sword. Most of them are very useful in different situations and every boss is a piece of cake (Last boss becomes a joke ), I think I've spent around 16 hours with the game in total.

Hearing the track listing for Julius mode alone, makes me want to buy the game. Lots of classic tracks.

Plus Julius mode was awesome in AoS, anyway. Can only get better in the sequal.

I agree to this statement.
Then, we could play Mario Kart.
