Here's some information about this console. It's planned to wash away the gaming revolution. Discussion, begin!
As for me, I just can't wait to get my claws on it! How about you?

I was about to say "Hey, there's another thread for this," but then I remembered I closed that one.

Unlike Xbox 360 (TES4 Oblivion, yay!), it doesn't have any games announced that make me think "I need this console." But, I'll get it sooner or later, if only for the downloadable games and the backwards compatibility (it's about fucking time, Nintendo...)

I think they're planning a Super Smash Brothers game with online capabilities to come with it, but I'm not sure. The controller looks awesome, and the fact that you can download Sonic games makes it sound cooler.

The only games they're planning are Super Smash Bros. Revolution and Super Mario 128 (both working titles).

Sounds cool, but the controller's a little weird looking...

Here's something I wonder; for all of the different "collection" nintendo games that have appeared over the years(Mario, Megaman, arcade classics, 2 in 1, etc.), do you think Nintendo will be smart enough to make the price for those downloads(if you have to pay at all) equitable to downloading the originals separately?

A really cool feature would be compatability with Gamecube controllers. Unfortunately, there's no holes.

In the article that MM linked to, it said the GC controller ports were on the top of the console.

HAHA! I've never thought of that before.
I have a feeling games like SSB will be able to use the Gamecube controller or some sort of alternative. I can't see Nintendo completely ruining that game..

I can see them totally ruin that game, becuase they have ruined games plenty of times before! (Dont get me started on Mario Kart: DD (Sure I liked the game till I realized that OMG this isnt Mario Kart!) Hm... it might be like this...

Prolly Default-
-Left hand thumbstick for movement, Up can make you jump.
-Flipping Right Controller up can make you jump.
-A button is Attack.
-B button is Attack 2.
-Fliping Controller to Right, Left, or Down is smash. And..Uh. Up smash would be...Something....
-Shield would be point controller down...

I dont know, but they better figure out something!!!

How can you say this? The Gameboy color? Backwards compatible with the GB (might not count as much BUT..) and the GBA? The SP? Backwards compatible. The DS? Backwards compatible with GBA...oh but it dosn't do GB games so everyone thinks its a huge screw up =|

On the subject of the controller: I love the idea. I love the potential it has, and just thinking of the gaming possibilites, and all the fun that I can garuntee right here will come from this system, makes me excited I know alot of you don't like it, but..I have a very good feeling. I am not a fan girl, but I know for certain Nintendo has never let me down in the past for fun and innovativeness--and if you don't play video games for that, you're doing something wrong

Are any of those home consoles, though?

Ah, and that's my point. Plus, the SP doesn't even count as a seperate handheld, there's not a single SP-exclusive game in existence.

Lots of people count the SP as different and I'm not sure why. It's definitely the more "popular" of the GBA models and with good reason, although if the Micro sells like it has in Japan... :\

There's going to be controller ports for the GameCube and I'm guessing Wavebirds would work as well.

Waitwaitwait... No HDTV support? Also, the 512MB internal flash is used to download games... that's nice, but does it download GCN games? Because a lot of those are probably >512MB. The one other thing that bugs me is that you need an add-on for DVD playback. This can be good or bad, depending how it works: If the add-on contains the actual hardware required to play a DVD (eg it's not physically possible without), then it's good; that would help shrink size and cost by making the feature optional. On the other hand, if it simply unlocks DVD functionality already present in the system (like Xbox's remote), then they're clearly just being greedy bastards, making us pay extra for the DVD hardware in the console even if we don't plan to use it, and then more if we do want it. We'll have to wait and see how that comes out.

Either way, though, I can't wait for a Zelda game where you strap 4 controllers to your arms and legs and physically move Link. I wonder if that's what they meant by these 'big changes' to Zelda?

It said in that Wikipedia article that the DVD thingie is a dongle, so it does just unlock DVD functionality already present in the console. Maybe it provides information on the DVD format to the Revolution, but if its just a thing that you buy so that you can actually use it then they've betrayed their supporters.

Well that could have various meanings. Gameshark for PSX is a dongle too, but it doesn't just unlock cheat functions.

Of course if it does just turn out to be a key type of thing, I'll just hack up my own and be on my merry way.

Sans the remote, I'm pretty excited for this.
They better make some alternative... a joystick thing and a REMOTE is not a controller.

The remote will be the best thing thats ever happened to Nintendo.
I mean, I don't mean to smell of fanboy, but think about the possibilites with gameplay for a moment.
