Just asking, there were a couple of threads in the ROM hacking forum that were closed and trashed, when really there was no reason for them to be. Any ideas why they were trashed? (Generally ROM hacking threads don't get trashed, just closed)

I have no idea. Closing them seemed so... uneccesary.

I moved them back and opened them for now. If any staff member steps forward and tell me why they closed thoose threads, do so.

Well in the second one, he said it could be trashed when the question was answered, and it was. Though usually threads aren't trashed unless the author specifically requests it.

I heard someone got into Cymoro's account a while ago, could have been them. (They were of course banned, and his password changed. )

They were opened again, I posted in one, and it got trashed again, without reason.

It's a bit ridiculous.

I think threads could be left open after a problem got solved, it sure would depend on the case. If someone has issues with Daemon Tools or something, it could be left open even after solving the problem - so someone else might browse that and maybe bump it. On the other hand this might interfere with the rule of pushing older-than-fourteen-days-old threads.
If I was a mod in a certain forum I would have left open a bumped thread open as long the poster has a reason to push it, not something like pushing a thread like the one for Meteos' release and not having a post like "YEA THIS GAME KIKS AS AND IS KUL!" and nothing else.
Edit: Fixed two types. No "pusing" but "pushing" xD

That's generally what the accepted rule is now. The two week limit is stupid.

When mods close/trash a thread, unless it's obvious (spam, advertising, etc), they should post explaining why. This also goes for reopening a thread another mod closed. There's no need to be mysterious about anything.

Also, they need to realise that they don't need to trash every single closed thread. Especially in rom-hacking. Sometimes a thread may still contain valuable information, and, therefore, not be trash.

Right here is a perfect example of why not to close a thread after the question has been answered. I asked a question, and Disch and Elric answered it, but then a while later Kawa posted a much better solution.
