| I have noted in the past few months that I've been here a rather tragic thing, it seems that there are some on staff who would curb the activites of users merely to protect their own precious e-penises (i.e. post count etc). They refer to rather well thought out messages as spam, accuse others of not reading threads for no reason except to imply that the user is spamming in order to discourage them from posting more often. Threads get locked for no reason except that the staff suddenly deem them to be need as locked. There are other things as well. Perhaps at some point these staff will realize that board activity regardless of how serious or not it is is essential for the prolonged survival of their board as a whole and at some point they need to quit sucking off their e-penises and let users have a little fun. I've noted while reviewing threads and whatnot, that I am not alone in this conclusion, there are those on staff and off staff who do agree with me and feel that Acmlm's board is becoming too serious business and needs more lol internet. | It's a damn bloody shame that meaning in this message will not effect much, and probably get into more drama. It IS well meant, and I agree with a lot of it. Eh... not too sure what else to say. Doubtless some of you that post after this may either close it or repudiate him. |

| Amen to that! Certain staff members seem to let the power go to their heads, and feel that any who disagree with them are wrong, and should be punished. I'm glad I didn't apply for staff the last time it was opened. I don't think I'd have stuck around this long if I had. Of course, one of the major problems is, sadly, that Acmlm no longer has control of his own board. He's been overridden by other staff in the past, which, frankly, should not happen. It seems that the choosing of staff has become a popularity thing. Case in point was the last staff application. If you didn't have people saying, "Yeah, I support you as staff", you had no chance of becoming staff, regardless of how qualified you may have been. IMO, the best thing that can happen is for Acmlm to demote EVERYONE, and consider the staff HE wants, then ask those people if they're willing to be staff, promoting those who are, and moving on for those who aren't. Sadly, I don't see that happening any time soon. |

| Actualy, I believe the board should be entirely unmodded, and all incentives should be removed for post counts. Keep track, certainly, but no levels/avatar-getting etc, or perhaps have it be only by time, not posts. Or some other form of achievement or work. Anything but posts. By saying, hey try to post alot to get syndrome, try to post alot to get avatar, try to post for this contest, etc, you are encouraging spamming. I mean, if someone is making an intelligent post just to win a contest, it is still a bad idea and still a detraction, I think. People should talk and post because they want to. Perhaps base levels and etc off of points given for brainteasers or other such things besides only posts. With that removed, the board will run fairly smoothly without staff. Of course, you need a skeleton crew to come in when called for such things as death threats, hacks, and other serious issues. If someone wants to spam, they will spam, and all of their threads/posts will quickly goto the bottom of the pile, or they will end up on ignore lists. I know another forum, I can PM anyone the link if they want (by no means am I advertising it. It is not for most people) that is completly unmoderated. it works out fine in the end, no one stays around for months just making bad threads for hours and hours. The persecution of banning is why so many do it in the first place. Anyways, that's my 2 cents. |

| I also don't think you should have to be nice to everyone all the time. Respectfull, certainly, but why should everyone have to sugar coat everything to a mod or admin? In reality, they are here to SERVE the reagular, non-offensive poster, not the other way around. Can't people disagree with them? I also could do with alot less of mods "giving what they get" when "giving what they get" is a bannable offense for others. Too often threads are closed with a "blah blah you're an asshole hahah!" kind of "I get the last word" remark. Then they are basiclaly using their power to win and or end personal arguments. They really need to start thinking about the fact that this is supposed to be a fun place for POSTERS, and a responsibility for them. | Leg, I'm being forced to close this thread now due to the fact that it is kind of a cardinal sin to be staff shit-slinging with users on the board. Go to IRC and moan if you want to do that. | Actually, users can tell staff to fuck off in arguments and what not. It's happened before and the only people that enforce "OMG FLAMING STAFF" are the ones that have major issues with themselves. I used to enforce the rule, but I see it as tiring. |
