I'll put it very flatly. I'm fed up with this place, no less for Mr. Bush. Mandatory education for children when they're better working on farms. It'd save tons of oil powering those huge machines. No ban on public smoking. Most businesses don't allow it inside, but they simply hang out in front of the nearest gas station. Churches, religious television, etc. I'm a solid atheist, so it disgusts me. What am I to do?

I've got no car, no income aside from government disability, no certificate of any kind from secondary or post-secondary education, etc. Any serious suggestions on leaving?

It depends on how strongly you feel and how much you are willing to give up. It sounds like you need to get out of here fast. I suggest using the internet to find a country that best suits you, save up for a one way plane ticket, then just see what happens once you get there. Britian, perhaps? It'd escape America without steering to far of the culture (e.g. English language is used).

Quite frankly, I'm not sure how you are going to escape religion though. America seems to be much more relaxed about religion than other countries. France, for example, has huge-ass churches almost everywhere. In the Middle East, they take time out of their everyday to stop and pray. I guess if you don't want anything to do with religion, you could just take great strives to ignore it.

You can try to stick it out until you are in a better position to move, though. Smoking can be done in America outside of buildings most of the time. What goes up must come down. The same applies for gas prices. Bush is out of here in 2008, thankfully.

I guess you better earn some money and then leave. If you do leave then I dont know how better you'd do with not much to start off with in another country. Right now it's all good if you at least have the basics to live here plus money to start over somewhere else.

Yeah, some places are even more religous than here. I haven't been to any other country so I couldn't suggest anything.

Actually, Havoks has a good point. I don't think you'd be able to get that in other countries.

Depends how open their welfare systems are to non-residents and non-citizens. Most first world nations have far better developed welfare systems than the US though.

And Snika, the US is not more relaxed about religion than most other countries. even france, with its big old churches, tends to ignore religion far more than America. The US is a remarkably religious country among western nations.

Um, you'd better look into visas, residency laws, immigration laws, and so forth - you can't just *go* to another country and stay there. That's called being an illegal immigrant and just because you're American doesn't mean you can't be one.

No secondary education. Bit of a difference.

It may sound like I'm kidding, but I'm not; go to Canada. It's like America, just with different bullshit (and less? I dunno, but no country is without bullshit), and it's cold. But you'll probably have to get a job or something, or see if Canada has some government disability plan.

But even more seriously, you piss me off. I'm no patriot myself, but man:
#1- Turn off the fucking news, politics are depressing
#2- Why do you want indoor smoking? So you can piss off the squares? You know that has serious effects on the health of the employees, don't you?
#3- People are stupid enough, you have any idea how much worse it'll be when they never go to school? The crime that'll come of it?
#4- Why are you bitching about churches and religious television? I've been an atheist since I was 9, doesn't bother me any, I just learn how to avoid them. And I agree with Snika, good luck on dodging it with a change of location.

At first I thought you were full of crap, but then I looked at some inflation-adjusted charts, and it's basically the 1980 energy crisis (Am I the only one who really hates the word "crisis" now? I blame California) all over again. http://www.chartoftheday.com/20030827.gif , That's one hell of a jump since the chart left off, though.

Are you good at anything? Unless you have savings, I would suggest forgetting this whimsical dream of yours. I am not kidding, you have to live off something, and have a positive income. Unless...you move to Antarctica.

Any idea on where you want to go? Canada is real friendly.. they pity us I think.

I'd say, look up some options you're leaning towards, and figure out which one's policies best help you. Do some research. Get some sort of income so you can save, this will certainly cost money. That's a good start, I think.

Secondary education is synonymous to highschool education. Post-secondary education would then mean after-highschool education, i.e. college or university or something similar. No difference.

It would be kinda nice to move to Mexico. You'll be rich as hell over there but you'd need to watch your back for kidnappers, thieves, and crazy people.

Move to a nice place of Mexico but then again you might want to learn spanish . Canada could be your best bet if you're really serious about it. You need to do your own research to see if you want to do this. All that work of finding somewhere to go would be too much for me..but that's me. You'll learn a lot just finding out about different countries, upside.

So you're leaving the country in part because some areas have banned smoking in businesses.

Yup, I'm gonna kill all my old teachers. They told me secondary was college, and post secondary was graduate/postgraduate schooling. Goddamned Stockton public education...

Yeah, it really bothers me when I am enjoying the fresh air and accidentally huff in someone's cigarette smoke. Luckily, its not that big of a problem over here.

your schools are stuuuuupid

oh wow wikipedia has an entry on secondary education

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secondary_education

i searched because i thought maybe i was wrong since im canadian and albeit they say College can also refer to secondary schools, or to the first stage of secondary schooling, much like middle school but thats stupid so your schools are still stuuuuupid

"Secondary education in various countries"
United States: high school (usually grades 9-12 or 10-12 also termed senior high school); junior high school (6-8 or 6-9, or other variations) and middle school (6-8, 7-8, or 5-8) are sometimes considered secondary education.
