so yeah, the new season kickoff was yesterday and the Patriots rolled over the Raiders 30-20. I believe the raiders had a shot to win if they didn't commit so many penalties since they trailed only by 3 points at the half.

First game of the season usually shows who will make the playoffs. Last season, Indianapolis was the only team to lose the first game of the year and make the playoffs...

You know, we all forgot to make a picks group on Yahoo as we usually do.

Shall one of us make one to start with Week 2?

NFL history was made today, although it's rather insignificant history. Since the Vikings came to be in 1960, the Vikings and Packers have never started 0-2 in the same season....until Sunday.

The Vikings were blown out of Cincin, and the Packers suffered a tough loss to the visiting Browns. At this time, the Bears lead the division at 1-1 (with a divisional record of 1-0) and the Lions also have a 1-1 record, however their divisional record is 1-1.

And to avenge the loss of the Super Bowl from two years ago, the Panthers at home defeating the defending champion Patriots.

The Colts, Steelers, Bengals, Buccaneer's, and Chiefs are the only current 2-0 teams.

--Edit--
Forgot about the Buc's.... =\

Don't forget about the jets losing Pennington for the season and their backup hurt, and the guy for the patriots that I can't remember his name pretty much destroying his leg (ACL, MCL, PCL, OUCH-CL.)

Rodney Harrison: if it's a ligament, he's torn it. As for the Jets, let the Brooks Bollinger Error begin. Third quarterbacks aren't supposed to PLAY.

It's either the Brooks Bollinger Error or Vinny Teste-AIR-de. Vinny hasn't exactly been in any kinds of training camps over the last 3 months either, so it's Brooks or nobody. Could be worse, it could be Brett Favre of the '91 season when he was still with the Falcons...

Pats got owned at home by the Chargers...
So, last season wasn't really a fluke by the Chargers and the Pats are losing their consistency...

In other news, the bengals are 4-0 since 1991 (i believe...)

Yes, but we're still talking about the Bengals here. When were they EVER good? (Correct answer: 1990.)

I'm starting to get excited because the Browns are 2-2 with winnable games coming up against the Ravens and the Lions. The guys on Fox were talking about how Cleveland's already exceeded their expectations for the season. Well I didn't expect 'em to be good, but they couldn't have been that bad. I mean, the only reason anyone thought they were gonna be horrible was because of how horrible they were a year ago once they put 11,000 players on the injured reserve. Everyone forgets that they started 3-2 last year and that they had the offseason to recover.

As for the Ravens, man...21 penalties in one game. I can't believe some other team had 22 which was the record. Brian Billick may not last long over there, especially if they lose to the Browns next week.

The last remaining undefeated team is Indy, with Washington, Cincinnati, and Tampa all falling this week.
