I'm playing a rom of this for ZSNES. Anyway, I always get stuck here. Why cannot I not make this jump?

I can't imagine how mad you were to travel bandits road again, if you died.

Hm? There are save points after that. =/ I never felt the need to use running otherwise, I fought like nearly every bad guy on the way to here. Anyway, I'm in Marrymore now, thanks for the bit about running, I'd never had figured this out otherwise.

I mean if you died fighting Croco. Because it seems this is the first time platying SMRPG.

Yeah, I think the game will definitely be more enjoyable for you now, since you now know how to run ... *laughs*

For some reason, in my ZSNES, I can't run and jump diagonally down-left at the same time, so I couldn't make that jump in Nimbus Ascent, which is why my map of it is a crude doodle based off the Player's Guide.

You could have posted this in the SMRPG Discussion thread, though. Just an idea...

Haha. No, I played it a long time ago like when I was 7 or 8. Then I downloaded it as a ROM, and played it once or twice. Sadly, I never knew about running before this point. And dying fighting croco? How? He's so easy. =o

Well, Croco is hard is you skipped all the battles. Do you ever get like that? Where you are just trying to avoid the enemy, because it gets so boring fighting the same guy over and over. I say just get to the bosses.

Eh... I was trying to fight all the enemies I could for cash and EXP. I had maxed out money by the time I got to Rose Town

Croco was hard for me if I was below Level 5. If I'm at Level 5, his attacks won't do too much damage. As for the other battle, I think I was at Level 10 but he's easier in the second battle. I just hate it when he steals my items.

I'm in Marrymore, I've not played since I first posted that, Mario is level 10, Mallow's near there, and I think Bowser and Geno are around level 8 or so.

All the enemies were too hard so I gave up and used one of those ROM editing things you can download and increased my stats to max and got one of those rare items that make you do awsome damage.

Rom hacking for cheating?...well, i won't judge you, there are many game I would do that because i suck in them

Ahp, Thayer, you can get a lot of EXP when you reach Sunken Ship. Just make sure you get enough stong to kill enemies from a dry bones lying below some boxes. Just thow them some thunderbold and you'll get 27 EXP. You can fight as many times as you want, because the dry bones will only fall and then stand up after a while.

I hope i didn't screw things up for not making this an spoiler ;P (well, you'll find similar strategies in gamefaqs or another sites in any case )

Haha... this reminds me, when I was three years old and playing Super Mario Bros., I got all the way to level 8-1 (with warping, of course) and couldn't jump over what I called, at the time, "the big hole". Soon, I realized how to run, by holding down the B button -- "It's not just for shooting fireballs!", I said to myself.

... I was three! Give me a break!

I'm largely familiar with the overall story of the game thanks to a friend back when I was like in the sixth grade. Thanks for the tip, I've already found Mallow to be very useful in this way on earlier levels too. Now that I'm back from my trip, I imagine I'll start resuming my game play on this, but I think I need to backtrack on a few maps that I didn't attack the monsters or get the hidden coins and whatnot on.

Heh, I remember when I was like 5 or so and found this really cool trick in SMW. If you press A, Mario does a spin jump! Then I went and tried to beat some of the last levels using only spin jumps, only to find I couldn't jump high enough.
