You Might Be A Left-Wing Extremist Brainwashing Victim If...

You believe that the U. S. Constitution prohibits the open recognition of God by our federal (or any state) government, and the exhibition of religious symbols on public grounds.

Or you believe that Al Gore won the 2000 presidential election.

Or you believe that most television and print news outlets in this country are politically neutral.

Or you believe that outlawing private gun ownership will reduce crime.

Or you believe that the U. S. Constitution is a "living, breathing" document, and that Supreme Court Justices have the right to redefine its text in order to make it compatible with what they interpret to be the current moral standards of society.

Or you believe that Charles Darwin's macro-evolution theory is a proven fact.

Or you believe that the U. S. should be a signatory to the Kyoto Treaty.

Or you believe that Michael Moore is patriotic.

Or you believe that requiring children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school violates their "civil rights".

Or you believe that the United States of America is an imperialistic nation.

Or you believe that private clubs like the Boy Scouts of America should be forced to accept as members individuals who's lifestyles they disapprove of.

Or you believe that affirmative action programs are morally defensible.

Or you believe that illegal aliens have the same Constitutional rights as American citizens.

Or you believe that big oil companies make more money from the sale of gasoline than the federal and state governments do.

Or you believe that most American soldiers joined the military because they were either tricked into it, or they couldn't make a living in the civilian world.

Or you believe that taxpayer money should be used to fund "the arts".

Or you believe that the guarantor of your rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is the federal government.

Or you believe that unborn human beings are not really human beings simply because they require the impermanent sanctuary of their mothers' wombs, and therefore, abortion is not murder.

Or you believe that George W. Bush is more dangerous to the American way of life than Al-Qaeda.

Or you believe that Rush Limbaugh is an extremist, but that Al Franken isn't.

Or you believe that drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska will destroy the environment.

Or you believe that raising taxes on the "rich" will lead to economic prosperity for everyone else.

Or you believe that the invasion of Iraq by U. S.-led coalition forces violated "international law".

Or you believe that things like the education system, the healthcare system, and the social security system are best controlled by federal agencies, as opposed to private citizens.

Or you believe that spanking an unruly child equates to abuse.

Or you believe that Hillary Clinton was genuinely shocked when Bill finally admitted to the American people that he'd had an "inappropriate" relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

And if, by chance, you believe all of the above propositions to be true, then you have DEFINITELY been brainwashed by leftists extremists, and my heart goes out to your family and friends as they mourn the loss of your sanity.

Or you believe that most television and print news outlets in this country are politically neutral.

A lot of the major ones are biased, in one direction or another.

Or you believe that the U. S. Constitution is a "living, breathing" document, and that Supreme Court Justices have the right to redefine its text in order to make it compatible with what they interpret to be the current moral standards of society.

Bush is trying to ammend said "living, breathing" document in order to make it compatible with what they interpret to be the current moral standards of society.

Or you believe that Charles Darwin's macro-evolution theory is a proven fact.

Just like how a little book with a cross is a proven fact?

Or you believe that requiring children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school violates their "civil rights".

Why is civil rights in quotes? Is that to say that they don't exist, or that the two words are a figment of someone else's imagination?

Or you believe that private clubs like the Boy Scouts of America should be forced to accept as members individuals who's lifestyles they disapprove of.

Since they are treating the scouts like a business, a new business should be made to rival it.

Or you believe that big oil companies make more money from the sale of gasoline than the federal and state governments do.

Don't even get me started on this.

Or you believe that most American soldiers joined the military because they were either tricked into it, or they couldn't make a living in the civilian world.

People make thier own choices, if that's what they choose to do, then so be it.

Or you believe that taxpayer money should be used to fund "the arts".

I don't even know what the hell this means...

Or you believe that the guarantor of your rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is the federal government.

Or you believe that unborn human beings are not really human beings simply because they require the impermanent sanctuary of their mothers' wombs, and therefore, abortion is not murder.

I'm sorry, those two points condridict each other!

Or you believe that George W. Bush is more dangerous to the American way of life than Al-Qaeda.

Maybe not to the "American way of life," but certainly "American lives."

Or you believe that Rush Limbaugh is an extremist, but that Al Franken isn't.

Al Franken is a comedian, therefore I take him less seriously. But both of them are crazy at times.

Or you believe that drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska will destroy the environment.

Maybe not the global environment, but I can't say the same for Alaska's.....

Or you believe that raising taxes on the "rich" will lead to economic prosperity for everyone else.

The rich don't exist?

Or you believe that the invasion of Iraq by U. S.-led coalition forces violated "international law".

The US led the way, England followed, and not much else other than that. Not only that, they jumped the gun, and were a good portion wrong on the accusations.

Or you believe that things like the education system, the healthcare system, and the social security system are best controlled by federal agencies, as opposed to private citizens.

Ask me again when you have $5,000+ of credit card debt. Now ask the 3 million American's with that debt that same question.

(OMG now that was funny )

Yes, trolling, flaming, and spamming is fun. Do you feel better now?

This should be trashed or moved to World Affairs (if it hasn't been already).

By the US Supreme Court, about 1 month into the counting, it was terminated and the election was basically handed to George W. Bush. The ballots should've been counted, no matter how long it would've taken. That way, all doubts would've been cast aside.

No offense, but macro-evolution is retarded, this is just what some creationists pull in order to argue a sort of that there are two types of evolution- 'macro-' and 'micro-'. Note that the distinction between the two as argued is largely arbitrary, and more or less, it's just a moot line of defense that is thrown up without any reason.

You know, I could easily convert this list into "You Might Be A Left-Wing Extremist Brainwashing Victim If..." by turning all points into the opposite.

And oh, Sweden is left-wing. And oh... it works superb.

If I did show this list to my parents trying to attack various left-wing parties, they would I think I lost sanity. And also think I joined some crazy right-wing pary.

...I never seen anyone claim it in school to be a proven fact. And I live in a socialistic country, where the biggest party are socialistic and where we see a big tax cut as a bad thing.

I was tempted to trash this because it's trollish as all hell. It's a laundry list of severely oversimplified points, and the thread title insults an entire wing of the political spectrum. Some good discussion just may come out of it, though, so it will get a chance.

At any rate, I don't have the time or expertise to respond to every point I disagree with, but I do have enough for a couple.

Or you believe that Michael Moore is patriotic.

Why, because he doesn't love Big Brother?

Disliking Michael Moore because you disagree with his viewpoints and/or the ways he presents them is fair. Labeling him as ZOMG UNPATRIOTIC without explanation is not. Besides, this reeks of the belief that criticizing the government is Bad, Umkay. In the context of the United States' government - which was founded by dissenters - I agree with the reasoning put forth in this essay. Namely: dissent IS patriotic.

Or you believe that Charles Darwin's macro-evolution theory is a proven fact.

First off, scientific theories are sets of explanations for observed phenomena. They are not facts to be proven. Second, when did Darwin himself propose this so-called "macro-evolution theory" and what does it say? I can't very well comment on the validity of a theory unless it has been defined. Take a look at TalkOrigins to read about what evolution is and isn't.

Or you believe that unborn human beings are not really human beings simply because they require the impermanent sanctuary of their mothers' wombs, and therefore, abortion is not murder.

Setting aside the question begging fallacy (this statement does not define human beings and explain why zygotes, embryos, and fetuses are such - it simply assumes that they are) and the obvious retort that murder is a legal term that does not apply to abortion...

No, I believe that rights are based on self-interest. A being cannot have even the most infinitesimal bit of self-interest unless it is sentient - that is, has the capability to perceive (as opposed to, say, reacting automatically, like an ant, which is basically a living calculator). In humans, sentience is known by neuroscientists to be a function of the cerebral neocortex, which does not begin functioning until the third trimester of pregnancy. Before then, a fetus has ZERO potential for self-interest whatsoever, so I see no moral nor legal rationale to grant it any rights, ESPECIALLY considering that granting a fetus a right to life would subvert the born, sentient pregnant woman's right to govern the usage of her own body.

The United States court system is based on English common law, which has recognized the right of bodily sovereignty as absolute for hundreds of years. This makes sense because your body is with you from birth and your very existence depends on it. (Your mind is the function of your higher brain. Your brain can't work without an operational body attached to it.) In the US, this right was cited by the courts in the landmark case McFall vs. Shimp (Pennsylvania, 1978). In said case, McFall was dying of a disease quite treatable by a bone marrow transfusion. His cousin, Shimp, offered to be tested and was found to be an excellent match. He backed out of the donation and McFall sued him for the marrow. McFall lost. Here is the judge's decision.

If the courts cannot force a person to do so little as donate bone marrow in order to save the life of a born, sentient human being, how could they possibly justify forcing a woman to undergo the rigor of carrying a fetus to term, a task that at the very least permanently changes her body and at worst can kill her? Furthermore, granting a fetus this right would give it a right over the woman's body that it would lose at birth, which is even more absurd.

Darwin's concept of Evolution was not limited to "macro-evolution" either, so right on for suggesting TalkOrigins, just it seems the site is down.

It is said politics are serious business. Just like the internet

I suspect it was probably copied from somewhere else.

Possibly distributed through the email services, note it appears on alt.fan.rush-limbaugh group here: You Might Be a Left Wing Extremist Brainwashing Victim If...

It claims it was written by Edward Daley.

Reading this post makes me think that you might have been trolling after all. What else do you call posting a long list of statements with a deliberately inflammatory title and then smugly dismissing the inevitable counterarguments as overreaction? THREAD OVER.
