| "Whoa! Easy there, Dragon Master!" MM grabbed DM's hand before it hit Ka'Mumba. Ka'Mumba didn't notice. "You should be a little bit more careful. You could've made it angry by hitting her cheek. And anything's better than a catastrophicly angry dragon!" MM walked over to the corner and started wondering where Peardian was. Then it hit him -- "Hey, MM! I'm going *grunt* to be a little late. I have some business to *grunt* take care of and HOLY COW HE'S MUTATING!! he's gonna--ACK! Get 'im off get 'im off GET 'IM OFF!! ARG!!!" Peardian sent him a message. "Hmmm..." |

| Adric smiles an inner smile, realizing the mental prowess of his ally. He then proceeds to use his own rather special abilities to project his thoughts into Schwa's mind, as his mouth is rather tied up in the anti-chanting he's performing. You know, people's thoughts are generally supposed to be a private domain. But no, I'm not a wizard. The word Wizard implies a studious, gray-haired man with dandruff problems, yes? Well, I'm what would be called a Balance Mage, if anyone called us anything. The idea is, where there's a lot of magical power in one place, it draws in the magic around it. So, why hasn't all the magic been sucked into a tiny speck yet? That's where we come in. After all, without Mana energy, the world couldn't hold itself together; The universe itself is, in fact, made out of magic. We call situations like this dragon Mana Surges, because there's so much in one place that if we don't neutralize it quickly, all the mana in the world could simply leak out and disappear, in which case the universe would collapse in on itself, and that would be Really Bad. We have initiates ready at the far ends of the universe to perform ritual magic, holding it together long enough for field workers like me to bring down whatever is threatening the existence of everything. I'd expect we have about two hours before everything goes to hell, so let's hurry up. All this is said in the blink of an eye, another advantage of telepathy. In fact, it is the specific eyeblink caused by a rapidly incoming scaly tail. He jumps upwards quickly, but not quite quickly enough, and the top of the tail smashes against Adric's lower legs, sending him flying towards the wall. Fortunately for him, this is all part of the plan. His orb follows after him, moving much faster than he is, and stops in front of him. It stops his flight, and is soft enough for him to not take impact damage. Standing on it, he continues chanting, louder and louder silences blanking out all noise within hundreds of feet. The orb flattens into a disc, and begins to flash psychadelic colors in time with the chanting. It slowly descends, and finally, the chanting stops. Adric slams his book shut, and jumps backwards off of his disc. It goes flying at truly impossible velocities, spinning at an impossible rate, and being imossibly thin, and is, quite obviously, headed right towards the eyes of Ka'Mumba, ready to make course adjustments to stay on track. It contains, as of right now, the powers from: Two turns of charged energy, about 200-mana worth pulled out of the nearby air and formed into a fire-based attack, 95% of the dragon's breath weapon modified into a holy-based attack, and a lightning strike. This sort of combination magic generally does psychotic amounts of damage, and is made possible by the mana surge Ka'Mumba is causing. Adric wipes his forehead, then sits down to rest against the wall. Using that much energy requires a significant cooldown, so he'll just hope that nothing Really Bad happens anytime soon. | OOC: Gah... MM, you HAVE to stop controlling other characters. Even if it's only a little bit. I already told you why. Don't sweat it, you're learning still, but try to be careful. Schwa takes in Adric's message. "Shit! You guys work hard, then! I respect that... You look like you're getting old, too. As for me, I'm only 17, so I got a ways to go. Drop by Crystal Psipalace sometime." Already, Schwa feels like Adric's rival (the good kind, that is).  DM's attack hits the Dragon anyway, but does absolutely NOTHING to her. Melee attacks are useless without some sort of augmentation, because her scales provide a considerable defense against physical attacks. Adric's attack, though, comes in so fast and swift that it slices right through the Dragon's head! "AIEeEeEeEeEeEeEEEEEEEEEEEEE...." The wound that was given to her, though, quickly closes, but a scar is still visible. That attack did unbelievable damage to Ka'Mumba! She seems both furious at the Balance Mage, and afraid of him as well. Anyone who had the skill to hit her THAT hard HAD to be dangerous. Her charged-up energy is gone, so she tries something else, and quite sleazy... She opens her mouth, and suddenly her snake-like tounge lashes out, super-fast, towards Adric in an attempt to pierce his skin! If that happens, he takes average damage, has a high-chance of getting poisoned, and loses a large amount of mana which Ka'Mumba would absorb from him. The tounge can be cut with the right means, but one would have to be godlike in speed. If the tounge is cut an instant after striking the target, no poison or mana-absorbing effects would take place (but damage would still be dealt). | Adric produces the psychic equivalent of a laugh when he recieves Schwa's response... Yes, I'm getting old. I spend most of my time researching the ways in which the Ancients controlled Mana... It's fascinating stuff, but my field work is only called upon in emergencies. There hasn't been one of those in more than twenty years... As for the Crystal Psipalace, I've been there once or twice before, to ask assistance in defeating powerful demons. You probably would prefer it if I never showed up there, as that would mean a super-demon like this one is on the loose, and also that I found it before the Psi Warriors... It would probably also mean that you guys are losing your touch! Another laugh, but this message is more interspersed with silences as he thinks in time to the chanting. Adric smiles in satisfaction at the effect of his mana disc, then looks the dragon coldly in the eyes as it turns to face him. Expecting another acid bath, he clumsily prepares to take some of the punch out of a magic attack, his reflexes slow after his strong spell. As the tongue snakes out, he has only enough strength to try diving to the side to dodge. He sees the world in slow-motion for a moment, as his right arm, behind him as he begins to move, is pierced through with the green tongue of the dragon. He can feel a poison working its way through him... Fortunately, his minor preparation against mana-based attacks is of some use here, as he is able to draw out the poison in the form of a blackish green mist emitted from his arm. He begins to form this into another orb when he feels his mana starting to pull away from him, being sucked in through the tongue. He works against this by pulling mana out of the magic-rich air into him, to replace some as it is lost, but he still sustains an incredible loss. Being mana-drained just happens to be one of the worst things that can happen to a Balance Mage. Since their power (And their incredible longevity - Adric is nearly 400) is dependant upon manipulating the background magic, when there isn't any magic inside of them, they begin to die. At this point, Adric is weakening fast. He sends out a telepathic message to all of his allies nearby... Help... You have to... break the tongue... Quickly! | Trent had jumped in front of Koneko, DM, MM, and Schwa. He was serious. "I can attack you all! I hate you all so much! How is it that good always wins? I train and train and train, but y'know what? This hasn't helped my reign of power, or my slavery of the Illusion forest. Killing in the arena hasn't helped me. Schwa, I remember a time when we fought. MM, I want to end you." Trent voice goes in a deep terrifiing voice that only pure evil could have said. "But I hate everyone!!!! EVIL CONSUMPTION!!!!!! ( A dark chill goes through the room.) Trent had looked at them all, and saw he would be no match. During his recent battle with Alien X, he had learned there are stronger evil about. He looked at MM and Schwa. He had grown to hate these two so much, that he wanted to end there lifes. Trent used all of his rage and jumped off the wall, and shot a beam of dark energy at MM, Schwa, DM, and Koneko from his two hands. Trent would have back out for the next four turns.. The attack consisted of dark energy that would drain all hope and good from the opponet. It would cause unthinkable damage toward the opponets. "I FINNALY HAVE A CHANCE TO SHOW YOU WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE EVIL!!!!!!!!! OOC: I had to reply, I had writers fever. | (ooc: Alright, Raccoon. You pised me off. Never ever ever ever ever ever get someone's character's name mixed up with their username. If your character has never even heard of Koneko the character, and this is true since I haven't used him in the SBA EVER, you should not make ANY in-character references to him! This is one reason I get so frusterated with some people. Take the battle called "Misguided..." that I'm having with Vulkar. He continually attacks Koneko instead of the character fighting him, whose name is Ashra. Mostly just for this we get into long ooc arguments, although the problem is also that he has a really bad attitude about sim-battles in the first place. I just ranted at you. I'm sorry, but I have to make sure you don't do this in the future. OK?) Even in his weakened state, Adric's thoughts race faster than the ray pointed at him can travel. If it's made of darkness... Darkness is just another kind of magic. Large amounts of mana draw other magic inside... All he has to do is reveal the surge for what it is. Pointing his left hand at the dragon, he shouts out a simple incantation as loudly and quickly as possible. "Unveil the Risen!" The effect of this spell is twofold. First, it drains the caster of ALL mana, yet retains a connection between the mana and the caster. Adric has enough mana in this little pool to keep himself alive, which for style's sake becomes a small sphere orbiting his head. There is no way for this dense orb of magic can be drained by an outside source, as Adric has full and total control over it. But the second effect, occuring simultanously, is why the spell deserves a color gradient. Suddenly, ALL mana within a few hundred miles becomes visible to the ordinary observer. It is an odd sort of visibility, though, in that it is easy to see it yet it does not obscure material objects. A HUGE column of blue, crystalline energy is pointing out of the dragon, high into the sky, vanishing out of sight. THAT's the Mana Spike that Adric had mentioned. And one of the properties of Unveil the Risen is to magnify the effects of magic gravity by a thousand times in just the area surrounding the caster. Thus, the ray intended for him is sucked in towards the dragon, as are any of those that have not already struck their targets. And the real tricky thing about this spell is this: Because the caster's mana is a target of the spell, he must use his life energy to cast it. And he's still bleeding profusely from the area around the wound on his right arm. So he'd better get some medical attention soon, sort of thing. | OOC: This post has been edited. And about the healing rule... I'm just afraid that if both sides have healing, the match would never end. And if one side has healing, that side would win for sure (because moves like Schwa's Etheral Mending heal ALL HP over 10 seconds). I did it at the beginning of the match because by then, we hadn't turned this thread into a Co-op FFA. I suppose MINOR healing moves should be legal from this point on, but we should ask all participants. I have something special planned anyway that I just thought of relating to this, so... yeah... Schwa glances over at the wounded Adric. "Dude, you need help. Uh, ah... What do I do?" "Schwa, use Emotional Rockets in his favor!" "Oh, right. Emotional Rockets!" (echo effects) Schwa's Emotional Rockets attack usually makes 3 energy missiles appear nearby, each representing an emotion and emotional effect. Schwa can use them at will. However, if desired, Schwa can assign the Rockets to an ally, giving that ally total control over them. But... with UtR in effect, that doesn't happen this time. ALL the Rockets are immedately sucked into the Dragon, and nail her perfectly with all 3 shots! Ka'Mumba is so confused, she is afflicted with every status condition you can think of, and her Attack Power skyrockets! At the same time, Adric gains a small amount of HP and a good amount of Mana (this is because when the Joy rocket hits, it slightly replenishes the one who fired it, and it was assigned to him). | (ooc: I'm taking down the description of UtR from right here. Look in my character profiles if you need an explanation. And minor healing is OK with me... haha.) Adric smiles in response to Schwa's tactic. He feels refreshed, but he knows he's still weak. He stands up slowly, with not nearly as much difficulty as he had expected. The mana he had recieved from Schwa's attack wouldn't be enough to get a large spell going on its own; Thus, he brings back in his Mana Ioun, and all the power contained inside. He realizes that there's no way to charge up a Mana Sphere while UtR is in effect, and he doesn't dare remove it in case the dragon tries another magic attack. Yes, he knows several spells he can use in this situation... Flipping through his options, it occurs to him that the dragon probably isn't immune to holy, fire, or liughtning damage, because his previous attack was so successful. So, if you can't charge up energy over multiple turns, your best bet is always continuous damage magic. Put two and two together, and if you're lucky, you get five. With a damaged right arm, about half of the spells won't work already... He'll have to improvise. No damage over time magic, for one thing. The closest he could get would be a long string of spells with very small casting times... And if anyone can pull that off, it's Adric. Keeping his left hand pointed at Ka'Mumba, he shouts out a few words that, while not exactly a prerequisite for these spells, does have a certain style... Mana Barrage: Epsilon Breaker! (no echo effects, sadly enough) A stream of various colors of mana energy begins to pour from Adric's hand. He begins by merely dropping each tiny sphere of magic and letting them be pulled into the dragon, but slowly adds more and more force to each one, until eventually he hurls a large streak directly after the previous orbs. Each tiny particle is either of the elements fire, lightning, or holy, in just about equal proportion and spread equally along the stream of bright orange energy. When not bound together by a spell such as Mana Sphere, mana particles are very volatile. Mixing two elements of magic together only works until the whole thing explodes a half second later. And that's exactly what happens now... You see, initially the particles had enough even spacing to prevent them from exploding near Adric. But as the speed of later ones increases, they collide with younger specks closer to the dragon. The resulting explosion tosses some of the mana backwards into more incoming particles, moving at a high enough speed to force all the explosions to happen in about the same place. The trick is that each explosion actually FORMS more mana in the center of each detonation. Well, not really forms, but it's sucked in from other dimensions because of tiny breaks in the fabric of the universe around a mana spike. More and more mana builds up in an ever-enlarging globe moving closer and closer to the dragon. Eventually, Adric lets go. The structure falls apart quickly, and three large streaks of energy, one each of fire, lightning, and holy, rocket towards the only possible target- The dragon. Sounds like a pretty fantastic attack, right? It also happens to be one of the most mana-intensive spells Adric can cast. He drops back down to the ground, gasping for breath after releasing more magic than most wizards have in their entire bodies. All in all, he released 120 mana, but the explosive growth process nearly tripled the amount that actually was sent towards Ka'Mumba. With that kind of attack, Adric is effectively out of the battle for another turn at least. It'd be a miracle if he cast much more magic anytime soon. | OOC:Well lets just continue.... Dm: Well semms i have to use one of my more powerful attacks. Dm concentrates all his power (Except a little of it so he still survives) into one big force field around him. Normally this attack would have to make him get close to the opponent (The force fields radius is three meters) but know when adric has used UtR it instead flows away right at the dragon. BTW, one of you remind me if After Trent regained his power, he went toward in an attempt to stab DM. He pulled out his dagger, aimed it right toward his head. "You're first buddy. You are a fool to have used such an attack. And the rest of you are fools to let me recharge. Have I seen such ignorance before? Yes I have. In the arena. Where everyone was using foward attacks. Ha, maybe that's where my offensive mind came. One of you must burn in hell. And I choose you, DM." | OOC: Here I go! Clouds and some occasional birds race by as the lone Bombshell Bill shoots across the blue sky. On his sleek forehead their is a peculiar, yellow diamond. "Ooh, I hope I'm not to late..." he says to himself. "Dang Metroid...." As he races forward, the living bullet notices a large black dragon, and several people... including Magikoopa Myster. "I'm here, MM! I told ya I'd be here!" The Bill slows down and, in a puff of smoke, becomes a small Magikoopa in a gray cloak. Then, realizing he's still in the air, Peardian quickly transforms into an orange and gray Amazing Flying Hammer Brother. Looking closely, one might observe some bite marks all around his neck and arms. Focusing on Ka'Mumba, Peardian the Hammer Bro chucks three hammers at the demon's noggin. If they hit, each will do a small amount of damage. |

| Adric's attack stuns Ka'Mumba in awe rather than damage, once again doing quite a number on her, but not as much as the charged disc earlier. She cowers as the blasts strike her, but she seems to be resistant to most of them. Individual blasts work differently than a single blast with combined elements. If fire, holy, and electricity are combined into one projectile, it would ignore resistances a whole lot more than if three blasts struck each a single element. Fire and electricity merely bounce off her dark, scaly hide; it's the Holy energy she seems to fear, which seems to pierce her very soul itself. "Foooooooools..." DM's shield/projectile thingy strikes her next, and does some good damage, but it doesn't make her flinch. She seems to laugh darkly as she opens her mouth, and a peculiar light begins to form there... it's BLACK light, as in, like, the opposite of light; it seems to be making things darker around it... She's charging up for an almighty attack! Peardian appears on the scene, and his hammers are merely reflected off her skull, doing minimal damage. Schwa notices the newcomer. "Dude! Now we got a shapeshifter on our side! That's so cool... I wish I had time to get to know some of you guys better... Okay, cover me." Schwa begins charging up red ether. MM notices Ka'Mumba roaring in pain. With a gush of wind, it flies into the air and blows fire at Peardian. If it hits, it may automatically change Peardian back and cause third degree burns. | "Hm... a weakness to holy energy..." mumbles Peardian. "I got it!" A puff of smoke surrounds Peardian once again as he transforms into a white Magikoopa, but with wings! "All right. Now that I'm a Holy Magikoopa..." Peardian lifts his wand and fires a small ball of bright light. It's kinda slow, but it will do medium holy damage if it hits. Also, if it hits Ka'Mumba's eyes, she might be blinded temporarily. OOC: I'm starting to like this.  |

After saying that trents dagger slashes him hard in the face and immediatly after being hit two wings flow out from Dms back and they shoot out an holy beam that would do medium damage if it hit but now when UtR is in effect it whent straight at the dragon the wings then cover Dm and makes him disappear. |

| Adric looks up from the ground for a moment, just in time to take in his surroundings and the general ineffectiveness of the Ebsilon Breaker, whose beams are probably still bouncing off of the dragon time after time, as they can't very well move away from Ka'Mumba. Seeing Dragon Master disppear, he notices Trent holding a bloody dagger. Unfortunately for Adric, he's in a condition referred to as being 'burned out.' He broke several laws of physics all in one go with the cross-dimensional attack, and the universe is smarter than most people think. It knows that mana was just pulled in from outside, and thus that mana has to be put back eventually. Tiny breaks in existence begin to form around him, but he keeps control of his small reserve of magic. He's effectively immune to just about any projectile attack at this point, as he's surrounded by a cyclinder of dimensional portals. Adric cannot use magic until he has enough mana to force these shut; And he's still immobile from the cooldown of Epsilon. He CAN do something about his mana, just not yet. (ooc: I'll probably edit this post to be more detailed later... k?) |

| OOC: I KNEW you would, Peardian. The beams continue to strike the Dragon, but she seems to withstand it better as time passes. The holy ball from Peardian's attack slams into the Dragon's forehead, and the wing attacks slash the Dragon's wings, and she cowers from the consecutive blows. However, she continues to charge up black energy... Whatever she's preparing for, it's going to be downright devestating if not defended against! Schwa reminds everyone. "Everyone, get up a barrier or something! I can't protect myself from the attack, but I need you all to protect yourselves, 'cuz one shot from her next attack could be the end!" He continues to charge up energy. Pounding can be heard from the outside of the dungeon. The Psi Warriors have reached the place by now and are trying to break open the walls, allowing a fast passage to the battle.
