I remember when i was a young kid. All i had to worry about whas when the next sesame street was on, and how high i would have to count, and now, i have to worry about when the next time i have to shave will be, and hope my skin doesnt turn red.

Im 16 already, and my life has so far gone by fast, and im only gonna be young for what, 10, 15 more years maybe? Im more than 1/4 of the way to 60 already!

Im gonna be going off to college in only two more years, then what? A job, Kids, when im about 30 something, then thelly go through college, then ill start aging, eventually we'll all be dead. Never thought it would happen to me. When i was younger, i thought that growing up was done with, adults are the adults, the kids are the kids and nothing is changing...

Well i was dead wrong. Now im almost an adult, and my parents, and older freinds tell me it sucks hard. I'll use an example:

When you were younger, your parents set up all that stuff for christmas, the tree, the dinner, the decorations, the cookies for santa, the big family dinner, the gifts from "santa" that turn a budget upside-down. But none of that mattered, because santa was magic, and it was christmas time, and now when you get older, you have to make that happen, you will have to turn your budget upside-down for the tree, the lights, that big santa thing on the lawn, and the gifts from "santa", sound pretty bad huh? Get it yet?

Then theres working for 40 plus years till retirement, and being too old to get laid unless youre married, i guess it will be fun though, if i make enough money im my lifetime...

Older people have a saying "Why is youth always wasted on the young" because you dont know what you have till its gone, well, that is why i write this, most people dont realize they wont be young forever till its too late, so now you realize YOU WONT BE YOUNG FOREVER. So let us all, as teenagers, have crazy adventures, have a good time, get arrested once or twice, and enjoy youth while we can, cause it will be gone faster than it came.

Growing up is gonna suck hard, i already figured that one out, but, if there ever was to come a point in my life where there wont be a tomorrow for me, i want to be able to say "Hey, at least i had a good run" instead of "Oh god, i wasted my life" and i hope you want that to.

You worry too much I think. I'm 19, and things like this haven't really bothered me yet. You're much better off just going through life and not worrying about when your life will end, or when you will no longer be young.

Way ahead of you, friend. Sure, I know that time is fleeting, but I don't let death get to me. Sure, we all die someday, and there's nothing we can do to stop that, so why worry?

This is really one of the reasons why I can't wait to start college. The pure amount of oppertunities I'll have come Sunday will be unreal, and I intend to take advantage of them.

Also, why does growing up have to suck? Like you said, getting married and raising a family could be waiting for you, and that doesn't sound so bad to me.

Well, I know what you mean, and life won't slow down at all, sorry if that hurts more than helps. I remember my first year of college, man did that go by fast, but it was the best time of my life. I'm a week and a half away from 20, decade number 3 and that's a slightly scary fact, but not as upsetting as that it's not my 21st birthday. Though we all get old I've found that that has nothing to do with how much fun life is. Sure, when I was young there were no worries, but then again, I wasn't having nearly as much fun as I am now. Also, you have a lot more than 10-15 years of fun, I plan on still having a blast until I'm at least 50, hopefully more. And for anyone starting college, go out, have a blast, do things you'd never do in any normal situation because college is definately not a normal place. Just go out and do everything cause college is one of the few places where you can go out and do stuff without having the cost that you would outside of college.

DAMN YOU! I JUST came to terms with this whole thing, and you bring it up again ... I was at my uncle's house, looking at him and his kid, thinking "man, I remember him being as old as I am now, now he's over 30, with a 2 kids and everything.

It's hard even considering death as a completely non-spiritual athiest, it's like playing a game where you have only one life, and once you die the game malfunctions and you can NEVER play it again. I think this is the reason religion is so popular, that point of confusion is so weakening, and you're so vulnerable... I can be almost 100% sure that that was a major contributer to the popularity of religion, people jumping in at that point in someone's life, and offering them an answer.

Think about being immortal, and everyone else being immortal too, so you don't have to bother with the whole object of everyone around you dying as you live on. For the first few hundred years, you could admittedly get quite a bit out of it. But you'll run out of reason, run out of things to do, and just be bored with life.

I don't think it's dying people are afraid of, I think it's just dying before they're ready, dying with regret that they haven't accomplished enough. So long as I can die without regret, I can die in peace.

Well 30 or 40 isn't really all that old once you think about it..if you live a good lifestyle and eat right you'll be just fine. I do know that I'm growing up and almost legally an adult but I'm not going to let that get to me and in the way of having myself some fun. Enjoy your life while it lasts. College is okay so far..I still live at home and don't have a job and I'm not 18 yet so yeah..things will look up soon I'm sure. People don't want to hire me . Taking things slow.

Every one will miss their childhood but they have those memories to cherish forever and to keep that as a base to their life to never forget. It's hard to come to terms with but everyone will.

Why do your parents and older friends say being an adult sucks hard? Did they make poor choices?
I look around and see many examples of screwups within my own family. I don't want to make the mistakes these people did. They're not just minor things, they are big mistakes that you would think wouldn't happen to you, but then somehow they do. Getting knocked up, smoking and drinking a lot, being heavily in debt.. just a few common examples. I want to be better than that.
I do miss my childhood, there are so many memories and feelings I will never get to have again. It used to upset me a lot until some months ago. I guess you could say that was when I came to terms with it all.
I'm also looking towards the future. I may have already used up nearly 18 years of my life, but I have so much more time to live. There are things I look forward to when I get older, and in a way I can't wait to get started. I can never be completely certain of what will happen, but that's part of life isn't it? I just have to hope for the best. So far I've found that, although lots of my plans don't proceed as I imagined, things have a way of working out in the end. I trust that's how it will be when I'm an adult as well.
The way I see it, if you just have to keep a positive attitude about getting older, being an adult won't "suck hard" after all.

Y'know what does suck? Being an adult that can't get any!

Other than that, I'm cool with my age.

Well..it's not impossible for you to get any. If you really wanted some you could get yourself a prostitute.

I do look forward to being an adult, experiencing the other things life has to offer. I don't dread it but I want to be better off than my parents..I learn from other peoples mistakes.

I think time's shorter as you grow... I can hardly remember the first few years of my life since they passed by in a blur, but I can remember the last 10 years or so more vividly.

Jaguarstrike, aging is just a part of life. Embrace it and be thankful. The years of Seaseme Street and learning how to count are over, which is a good thing!

You have acomplished so much sense then. You no longer have to worry about when Seaseme Street is on because you can read TV Guide. You don't have to stress about counting, because you could now probably go up to one million.

If you were stuck as a small child forever, things would become very dull and boring. You could no longer have becoming a fireman as a dream. Or, as a preteen you may have the aspiration to drive and get the hell away from your hometown. This can only be acomplished if time sets in and takes its course.

We are all afraid of death somewhat, and just think of that as another dream. Hopefully after you have acomplished all your goals in life, you will take on another: Making room for new life in the world. It is always a sad thing if this happens before you have acomplished everything, but in some distant way it could be for a very good reason.

Make the most out of everday, even if it means sitting around the house watching TV. If you're happy, its probably the most you can do.

If you spend the rest of your life waking up and saying to yourself "aww crap, I'm a day older" then yeah, it will "suck hard." Being an adult doesn't suck, it's more responsibilities. That's inevitable, and you have to accept it. But more responsibilities doesn't have to be bad. You get to make your own decisions, you get to have your own house, you get to live on your own for the first time, eventually find someone you love and get married, have little kids running around, maybe a pet, and you can go to work and brag about your family to co-workers and be content with the life you have.
Have a good attitude. Be optimistic. A lot of good can come from life as an adult if you make something of it.

The older you get, the faster time passes. I don't mean it seems faster, I mean it really is. (Or maybe you just get slower. ) I remember when I was like 6, I'd pull out a book at 9:00 and read for what seemed like ages, then look at the clock and it'd be 9:05. 5 minutes now is barely anything. I could go get a drink and 5 minutes would have passed by the time I got back. It's weird.

I've never watched Office Space..didn't look like a very good movie to me .

When I was young time passed fast too I guess . I'd play all day and didn't get bored at all. Now I get bored easily and time goes by slow..either that or I'm not doing enough.

Not slower, you just like taking your time.

Yes, I'm getting pretty used to the idea that life is short, and time moves entirely too quickly.

Every time I come to that realisation as well, as if on cue I hear Do You Realise by the Flaming Lips in my head....

Do you realise.... that everyone... you know... someday... will die.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes
Let them know you realise
That life moves fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realise the sun don't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world

How DARE you even SUGGEST that Office Space might be bad. I guess no one told you that Office Space is one of, if not, the best movies ever.

Yeah, life is pretty short, and its starting to freak me out. Just a while ago when I was looking at my N64, I though, 'Its been nearly ten years since Mario 64 was released, but I remember all the time I spent playing it back when. And ten years was a long time to me, then.'

Time seems to go by faster, as you get older. I know why, I just don't care to explain it.

Eh, I guess I'll watch it if it ever comes on TV since you say it's so good . I just haven't had the chance to watch it.

Life is what you make of it. You are as old as you feel and as young as you want to be.

I'm the same as I was before, but now I have more things on my plate to deal with. And I do just that, deal with it, and never remember where I come from.

You can't worry life away, or you'll miss something. Stop counting the minutes and do something with them instead.

So yea, my answer would have to be no and funny thing is, I'm one of the oldest people here.

Oh, and Office Space owns. I actually had a boss like that before.
