I've tried Rpg Maker 2003 back when it was free, but I have never tried Rpg Maker XP. Is Rpg Maker XP better than Rpg Maker 2003? Does anyone know? |

They took away a lot of stuff in RPG Maker XP. Like, for instance, no vehicles at all. Remember those face graphics you could show when people talked to make things less confusing? Gone! Apperently, they added better programming support, but who cares about that? Game makers are supposed to take away programming. Despite all these reasons, I still find myself using RPG Maker XP instead of RPG Maker 2003. The awsome tileset that comes with XP made me like it. |

rmxp is sounding pretty crappy... Are you sure they are by the same company? Why would they take out all that stuff? Why don't you just import that tileset into rm2k3? |

Importing the RPGXP tileset into 2003 will just not work. Trust me, I've tried it. | |||

They are by the same company. I don't know why the decided to remove all the features, though. You should try out both RPG Maker 2003 and RPG Maker XP, just to see which fits you best. You can get them both free if you know where to look... *Evil Grin* (edited by Snika on 09-01-05 07:22 PM) |

I found it a lot easier to make modifications to hard files for Ragnarok Online than it was to make changes to the files of any of the RPG Makers, and I find that troublesome in a way, but RPG Makers were easier to add graphics too. Really when it comes down to it, the RPG makers were better for pre-fab games, and I wonder almost if you're better off with nearly anything else if you wanted to make a game. Heh.
