What do you do when you're scared or excessively nervous about something and have no one to turn to? When you're all alone, how do you deal with fear? I'm just curious, as always.

I don't really "deal with" it. Mostly I just get scared and / or nervous. If I can, I try to distract myself from it by doing something else...

I try my best to get distracted with anything. I hate that feeling.
It usually doesn't work and I just have to wait it out, and hope for the best.

I was scared to start college..of being lonley but I waited it out..and hoped for the best and it turned out okay . In other situations I don't really do anything..just get in a positive mind set and do things to take my mind off it.

Forget about what happened? That doesn't seem to tie into fear so much..
I was thinking of the future really. Minor things that get in my head. I recently started school, and every year there are always a few large projects that freak me out and that I think about for a long time. Sometimes I'll actually get nightmares over them, it's ridiculous. After the projects are done, I wonder what made me freak out so much.

Putting the tip of your tounge on the roof of your mouth and breathing in through your nose and out from your mouth is a great way to get through things. After that, its good to try to 'get lost in the situation.' For example, talk to people or friends around you. If its in a quiet situation (like taking a test), try to deeply involve yourself with the thing you are doing while breathing deeply.

Just how I do things...

I get freaked out very easily by things that most people aren't affected by. I can't handle horror movies, partly because of how I'll think about it for weeks, months afterwards, and partly because of the gore. The gore is what really gets to me, though. I have Panic Disorder, which only really hits me when I see a graphic movie (Saving Private Ryan is what started all this.. I passed out watching it, went to the doctor because the feeling didn't stop, and was diagnosed with PD), read a graphic novel (All Quiet on the Wester Front, example), or simply let my mind get too worked up to the point that I panic and lose control. Since this started (December last year), I've only passed out from it twice, however I've felt the effects of losing control numerous times. I know that, for the most part, PD is a mindgame that I have to overcome, but I'm not quite there yet. So I deal with fear, whether I like it or not, by panicking until I'm able to alter my thoughts to better things.

"How do you deal with fear?"

I don't. *runs*

just kidding. No one can really answer that question, its really something that everybody has to deal with in there own way, that's why most of the time one has "no one to turn to". Your not really supposed to.

AAhhh, I don't know, I guess...

Well, one thing is for sure, that "the only thing to fear... is fear itself" is nonsense.

What about spiders?

I did that for many projects..I was in this program that had to do projects at the end of every year in front of people and this one time freshman year I forgot what I had to say..and stood there..and then my team helped me. I got through it but I was embarassed. I wasn't the only one to do that but still . Eventually, I did get used to it but it still is scary. All I do is think of happy things ..don't take your mind off the situation too much or then you'll forget..I did that for an interview and I knew by the end of it that I wouldn't get a job..and I didn't . I never had nightmares about a project though.

I don't really fear things..just unless its like when you have to present things sometimes..like that I'll mess up and get laughed at.

Projects or presentations don't bother me as much as they used to. I remember in middle school, maybe even a little of freshman year, I would get bothered easily thinking about having to stand in front of the class. But I hardly care anymore, I've gotten over that fear.
Plus, I'm trying harder not to procrastinate. That way the stress of projects can't get to me. TIS SMART OTHERS SHOULD TRY IT!

Yeah, procrastinating is no good. Actually doing your work when you're supposed to is a good thing worked for Senior project.

The last presentation I did wasn't too bad. We just did it in front of a panel of teachers and we didn't do bad. It wasn't hard because..it was well teacher so they can't say stupid stuff like you guys suck get off and boo at us . I hope I get better with presentations. I want to get over it. I think with a different train of thought I'll be able to.

I try to help other people, if I can find any that need help. If that's not a viable option, I play video games. Slower games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Morrowind work best for me, although racing games (Extreme-G and F-Zero GX being my favorites) also seem to work well enough.

Well, when it comes to you liking the opposite sex, you can't really control it. It does go away after a while though. Some people think shyness is cute though.

My girlfriend likes trying to make my face go red.

Racing games usually make my stress worse.

Anyways, I try to either lie down and sleep, or randomly post stuff on the Internet.
