Since I probably won't have time to do 1-4 since I'm busy the rest of the week, I decided I would release a demo after I finished the Welcome level - 1-3. Before I really get into it, I want people to kind rate my style of hacking, tell me whether it's good, or bad, point out glitches or bad ideas, and even good ideas, but most of all, I'd LOVE your comments Here it is!

Demo

If you'd like to see screenies, they are down the page a bit. Also, can you guys rate it? Like rate it something out of 10? That will give me a basic idea of how it is. And please, don't go "O 1/10 It No FINISHED!!!!!!??? But just rate the levels as they are. Thank you

You could use WinRAR or WinACE for compressing the file; it gets down to 1.16 MB.

Can you set the background of level 1 a bit further back, so that it scrolls slower than the foreground?
And the platform at the end doesn't catch all coins, is that intended?

I haven't played much further yet.

Yeah, it's supposed to show that you're being thrown off course. I'll fix the BG problem also. Thanks for pointing it out

I just got done playing 1-3 and it's another great level. I already reported the problems with 1-1 and 1-2 to you, so here are the ones for 1-3...

1. When you enter the pipe to the cave you are coming out one space too far down.
2. In the bonus room the salactites (icicles or whatever) are one space too far down. They should be right on the ceiling.
3. There are a couple stray unnecessary pieces of land at the end of the cave, all the way at the left. This is because you extended the ground all the way at the right of the cave too far, and it goes off the screen, and this causes the ground to "leak" into the screen at the opposite side.
4. When you come in the goal room, you can re-enter the door, but it takes you to the default screen exit. Fix that.

Otherwise pretty good! I got a 77 on this level . I'll say this for everyone else since you heard my feedback for the levels already, these are some very fun levels! Very creative level design, lots of nice little secrets, bonuses, etc. So far it's been a good level of difficulty for the first world. Great job, can't wait to play more.

Thanks again GoYo. All the problems you mentioned have been fixed. 77, huh? Well, I don't want to spoil anything in here, but I'll PM you and see what secrets you missed. I think I know which one

I put the demo link in WinRAR, so it should work for everyone now

I hope this isn't a bump. The thread is pretty far down the page, but it's only one day old

Anyways, I got to playing this demo last night, and found a bit of a glitch. I'm not sure what level it's in, but I did take a screenshot of it, which you can see here. If you aren't able to tell already, that's caused by hitting the middle of that rotating platform with an egg, then quickly jumping towards the wall before it actually turns. If you want a suggestion on how to fix it now, I'd try clearing out several of those blocks, and placing some normal coins, or nothing at all in the empty space. Sorry if this has already been reported, but it doesn't look like it.

I can't really comment on the hack right now, seeing as I don't have it in front of me, but it was fun to play, so nice work so far

Hmm, I see, never happened to me before . . . umm, I could do what you said, but then if I put empty space there, it would be kinda hard to jump on the side of the saw before it flips. I'll try to find a way to fix it, thanks for pointing it out.

Has anyone else even tried this? It seems really unpopular - I thought everyone was into YI hacks and stuff. Ah well . . .

Don't worry man, I'm sure people are interested in YI hacks. It's just that this is just a 3 level demo, so people usually don't like to play short demos. Also, people do sometimes like to wait out for the full version instead of playing demos. Just look at my demo threads for SMW2+. My last demo had only 4 replies. This just proves people would prefer to wait out for a full version. My advice to you would be maybe release a 2 world demo before the final release, that way people will have enough levels to get some enjoyment out of it, and then plenty more people will play the full version. Don't worry you'll be fine I know it.

Yeah, I figured that might be part of the reason. I'll just wait til I finish world 2 to release a big demo. If anyone plays this though, great, but if they don't, well, theres always next time.
