I tried (for fun) editing the petalburg woods (used a clean sapph rom). I changed some of the regular grass (not the kind you find pokemon in) to make it look like there were puddles on the ground. I just used the regular tileset, nothing custom. Also put on a fog condition for kicks. Saved it, opened up the rom... played to that point... and..

crud.. it looked all messes up for some reason. All of the tiles I edited were changed around a bit, some were even the buildings in the next town, some looked like rocks... none of it looked right at all lol. When I opened the map again in elitemap, the map now changed to the cruddy looking one I saw in the game. Anyone know what went wrong? I just did something that was simple....

The tileset was probably messed up. This has happened to me before.

I ran into the same thing, I changed route 102 in Sapphire and when I went to play it all of the grass were glitched water tiles and trees completely disappeared. I tried to fix the route and now I can't leave any map, all the connections are gone, they just disappeared. And I have no idea how to fix it.

I even tried changing it in version 3.7.... it decided to change the tiles halfway through me changing them! It would do weird things like make them into "walls"... making me have to redo it again... and then I blinked... and all of the tiles were back to the messed up tiles again! In the middle of my trying to edit them! lol... it seems kind of helpless at this point... not sure what to do...

How to fix it? You don't.

Just remember to make a backup of your rom very often.

lol... it was a clean rom.... all three times I tried it. So you mean that can just randomly happen at any time? I'm starting to wonder if it might be something else.. or else I'm very unlucky.

Seriously repoint the map to that offset. An other map might be interferring or your map became big and rewrote data or vice versa. I am one of the Veterans at this.

One month bump regarding something that's automatically done for you.

That's a bit like asking "how do you make Lunar Magic install it's ASM hacks". Some people...
