Be a little more direct, like what are you looking for? Ninja stuff, comedy, thrillers, etc.

That would probably help.

Yuu Yuu Hakusho. Far and away. Course if you want to continue on the Rumiko Takahashi stream of things then I'd probably head towards Ranma

Ugh, I wouldn't recommend Yuu Yuu, but that's me.

Recommendations:
The Twelve Kingdoms (it's world is very similar to that of Inuyasha's)
Samurai Champloo
Naruto
Getbackers
Bleach

That's all I can really think of now.

Naruto and Bleach are Shonen's, so there basic layout for a plot is similar to DBZ's if you enjoyed it. Characters fight, storyline progresses, characters get stronger, etc.
(only Naruto and Bleach actually have good storylines)

I would recamend mostly anything by Studio Ghibli, especially Princess Mononoke or Grave of the Fireflies. Like Prier, said Ranma

Oh well...

That's the only one I don't agree with...and that's because I've seen how it turns out.

EDIT: And Ranma may lack the action in -SOME- points...but it also lacks the repetitiveness and at the same time has more comedy...course there really is no set plot...it's just plain fight it out stuff most of the time. The manga helps it a little bit...but still...

I agree with most of what you said but if /.hack is planing on watching the show, go in with an open mind. Most of my friends shuned the show because it was "To weird". And for the record, Happosia is the greatest character ever concived.

Ehhh...he falls far on some of the pervert masters I've seen...but for what it gets across he's just plain evil.

And if you're one of those people that would get all condemning about a guy changing to a girl when cold water hits him...yea...might be a BIT much for you.

I am so surprised no one's said Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken).

Prier: I don't know, I just could never get into Yuu Yuu. At first it started off kind of promising, but then (and I will probably get bashed for this), it almost seemed to turn into a remixed version of DBZ, the similarities were outstanding ...

I mean, am I the only one that thinks that?

As for Champloo, I'd just recommend it /.hack if you liked Bebop.

Sadly, I still need to check out Ranma.
I've read some of the manga, but not much. It seemed pretty good.

Yuu Yuu is pretty simalar to DBZ, but, in my opinion, the characters seem to have a little more depth, just a little bit. Also the villians are much cooler than DBZ's.

Hunter X Hunter and Beck would be my reccomendations. Hunter X Hunter is really well done and the last arc of the anime is just plain awesome. Where the Hunter X Hunter anime ends the manga continues the story, im having a bit of trouble finding the actual volumes.

Beck was a very good coming of age story in a sense,it had good character development and a decent ending.

Everyone should already be watching Naruto and Bleach.....Ive been downloading the newest episodes every week for a long time now.

Yeah, I'd also recommend Samurai Champloo. I haven't seen all of it yet but just the one episode makes me want to watch more.

Haven't seen the Ramma 1/2 anime..I should watch it..I just read a few volumes of the manga.

I heartily disagree with your standpoint on Yuu Yuu.(watch it SUBBED and UNCUT) It's when Pierrot was in its better days. Same for Hunter X Hunter. And please, please do NOT say that shonen follow a plotline similar to DBZ. In actuality, that is such a blunt statement. And nobody has said Fist of the North Star because the majority of the anime fanbase have seen few classics.

That said, I think /.hack should go with WhiteRose0's selections because they contain more of the 'essential' anime. Ones that not everybody sees nowadays(Although I have DVDs of every single one of them ), but certainly should. Those are some really nice definitive titles who give you a nice taste of what anime can be.

Some other necessary anime are Galaxy Express 999, Mobile Suit Gundam(you can just watch the 3 compilation movies, if need be), and Great Teacher Onizuka.
