I'm sorry if this is in the worng place, but I need help now. Someone has hacked my friends AIM screen name, and is harrassing me and my friends. I need to know his IP address. However, I don't know how to find it. I'm not 100% sure it is a hacker. It could be A. It was him B. A hacker who has keylogged all of my convoes and/or his convos. Remember, he could know what I'm saying know. I need to figure this out! HELP! (edited by stag019 on 08-07-05 09:13 PM) (edited by stag019 on 08-07-05 09:15 PM) |

I believe clients such as GAIM give you an IP address for an AIM user as well as their screen name. Course, don't know what you're going to do with his IP... |

He can see absolutely anything on my friends computer. He was able to see a PM I sent to my friend. This is out of control. And what that thing when you can't find an IP address? Because I think he has that. He has taken absolute control of his computer. He can move HIS mouse, he can view HIS AIM convos, or PM convos. Everything is messed up know. I told my friend to run all the malware removers he has, but that'll take a while. (edited by stag019 on 08-07-05 10:18 PM) (edited by stag019 on 08-07-05 10:18 PM) |

If he hacked a friend's username, just put it in your disallow list. If he's keylogging the fuck out of you right now, you use a firewall / scan for viruses in safe mode (some keyloggers come from viruses). And he could be using some ISP you can't really get his IP (ie. AOL) |

Aparently he only hacked my friends computer. But he can see anything on my friends screen. I have already run one malware remover. I also blocked him, however, I might unblock him later.

Then that friend might want to run a firewall if he doesn't (seriously, this looks like those programs using backdoors). If he just can't set up one (something stopping him from downloading one, that would be a virus, probably.) Then he should get someone to bring him a firewall program and reboot in safe mode, install it, scan for any viruses, may as well scan for spywares as well (hey better do everything in one strike).

My friend found the trojan and deleted it in Safe Mode. Now he is ok and is no longer being hacked.

glad that is over now in the future, when any virus or computer hi-jack has occured, it is best to remove the computer from the network (edited by neotransotaku on 08-08-05 01:34 AM) |

This isn't going to be a helpful comment but it's something I feel the need to clarify. The actions you describe don't warrent the title of "hacker" for your attacker. He is a cracker and script kiddy at best.
