Maple.

It's a tool that can rip most (if not close to all) instrument samples from any GBA game that uses the Sappy music engine.

Features
* Detects the song table location itself - no need for databases, and you get more than enough time to write it down for Bouch

If it ripped the samples and the MIDI (-like?) sequences to full-fledged music files, that would be fantastic!

One immediate thing that hasn't been mentioned is that it gives you the locations of the samples, which means that when hacking and looking for data, you can immediately eliminate all these locations. A pleasant side effect!

I've got that, Kawa, but the instruments turn our horribly wrong!

Of course with ROMs and save files, it's not too hard to hear any desired piece of music in a GBA game. But a genuine music ripper/creator would be nice.

Ripper: I've done a program that could dump track data before. I can do it again.
Creator: No need if you can grok MKS4AGB, available through me by request.

Edit: Did you try importing an exported MIDI into ModPlug Tracker and replacing the samples?

Also, can anyone guess what the hex codes in my custom title mean? (shut up X)

It's not really that important, but I'll have a look around for that ModPlug Tracker. Might be fun to try switching the instruments around!

Some semi-meaningless Chinese-only Unicode characters?

BZZZT Wrong!

It's the Mystery Bytes that Maple uses to find the MST. They are found in every compatible game, at varying locations. They are 16-bit THUMB instructions, aside from the wildcarded one which is a 32-bit jump instruction that differs from game to game. It is immediatly followed by two pointers, the second being the MST.

Kawa, I never, ever, ever would have gotten that

I actually opened the Unicode table looking for 8900 and saw the character for "naked" (裸 and thought you were leading us into something objectionable, but fortunately that glyph was at 88F8. So we're safe.

Well, I think this is a great idea. As someone who works with Tracker music often, it's hard enough to rip a clean sample by myself.
I'd like to see something like this for non-Sappy games, such as Metroid Zero Mission.

If you can describe the music format, especially how and where the samples are, I could do that.

As for X, don't get your hopes up.

Well well, another fine Helmeted Rodent program. By any chance will it be included in the next EM package?
