I don't know if your allowed to request, or suggest ideas for a hack, but could anyone 'Super Mario Land', in which the levels are the same designs as the original levels, including the bonus levels? (The first level is found in 'The Second Reality Project', but is missing the second bonus stage), or could anyone do Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins? (GFX or Ex-GFX aren't necessary, but the level layout is).

I don't know about SML, I haven't played the game for a loooooong time. But from what I remember, the sprites and objects for this game seem proportionally smaller then that of SMW. I guess some things can be done to try and mimic the sprite behavior of some of the game's enemies (such as a Thwomp taking the place of the Spiders.) But I'd think the game's overall smallness (is that a word?) would make it a little difficult.

SML2 would be a much better conversion. The sprites and objects are larger and a lot of the elements in the game could probably be converted more easily. It would be neat to make the game use the Gameboy's black and white palette.

I'm not going to take on this request, but a "SMAS style" version of SML would be great.

Like how Nintendo took smb3 for the nes, and ported it to snes.

Port the GB version of SML to SNES.

I'd prefer a full colour pallette.

That's a really good idea! I'll do it! The levels will use SMAS SMB3 GFX, and the overworld will use SMW GFX.

I was thinking about doing such a thing, but the computer I use the most has no ROMs or Emulators, so I'd barely get to work on it...

If anyone needs help with the layouts VGMaps has maps of EVERY Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2 level (including bonus games).

I ported the first Level of SML2 by hand to SMW, i.e.; I played the Level and drew the Layout out on paper, counting spaces and such.

I don't think all the SML2 levels can be ported. IIRC a few are too big (would need a Horizontal and Vertical level).

It depends what's out of range, like Turtlezone 2, where just the floor for the secret exits is out of range (easely done as a second Level with an exit enabled pipe.

But in this regard, SMWs Engine is the 3rd worst, right after SMB / SML and SMUSA. Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Land 2 offer more freedom (diagional Level scrolling, 5-9 in SMB3)

One question on SML2. How would the first level on the moon work out? As far as i remember the jumps in that level are higher than the other levels. Is there a way to edit the height of the jump just for that one level? Or will it just use the normal jumps?

There's a patch which allows you to alter gravity's effect somewhat.

Thanks very much. I have done the mushroom house (the very first level, which you cannot re-enter once completed) using screen-scrolling pipes, but I can't upload it because I haven't got anywhere to upload it from, i.e. I don't have a webpage. Anyway, it's still got SMW GFX and BGs. (BTW, apart from DJ Bouche and David Phaneuf (and me of course), who else here is also a member of the www.vgmusic.com forums?)

you can upload pics pretty easy, just go to ImageShack and no registration is required.

Don't you think you have enough hacks? Around Here someone has been working on a SML2 Editor, so you could use that to help for the levels. They (as in the people posting there) haven't been able to find the sprite data yet though .Good luck, and have fun (and could I beta test for this game if you ever decide you need some?).

The size limit is 1 megabyte and the screenshot I have is 5.69 megabytes, so that's no good.
