ClockExplosion - I've heard the James-ian vs. Paul-ian argument before, I've never quite gotten the message as I'm not welcomed by the people in my community that make it, but isn't it generally a Protestant vs. Catholic sort of ditty?

Pretty much, except there are Paul-ian Catholics and James-ian Protestant (Hilariously, Martin Luther wanted to remove the book of James from canon). The James-ian philosophy is an earlier, more militaristic (ala Islam) version of Christianity, while the Paul-ian is more based on forgiveness and love and that good stuff.

Cymoro - I'm not exactly calling him on that he is a Moby fan - I'm just bringing up my opinion is that he's taking Moby's views as his own, which is detrimental to anyone, including myself for bieng a Spice Girls fan. (Although I'm not...)

Actually, Clock, no. You see, the whole reason those essays aren't in there (and the 2nd reason I like Moby) is because they are true. Tee Arr Yuu Eee. True. If I didn't agree with them, they wouldn't be there. I've dispised the Christian Right for over 6 years now. I hate them so much. Then, my sister introduced me to Moby (I loved his music) and I got hooked on him. Then I read his essays, and I was like, "Wow. Good head on your shoulders, dude."

I'm a christian myself, and I really do not like how other people of my faith want to convert others left and right. It is simply not right. For crying out loud, god gave man free will, and if you don't want to believe in god, then so be it.

They fail to see how one becomes a true believer; it comes from the heart, from the soul, thats where true faith arises. For someone to accept it on his/her own shows clearly that they are true believers not some product of a brainwashing scheme.

Our world has many cultures and religions, and as I see it, let people believe want they want to believe in.

Homosexuals, though their lifestyle isn't something that interests me, I do not like to see them being deprived of their human rights. They are people, thus like everyone else in this world, they should be treated as such.

Anyway, thats my rant. The thing is, christianity, or any other religion for that matter, can be used for the wrong reason. The religions themeselves are not bad, but its just the people, the select few who take them completely out of context.

Not tolerance ... compassion and mercy.

Sometimes I get the feeling that the only decent Christian to have ever lived was Christ himself.

He wasn't a Christian, though. He was a Jew.

Yeah, he did teach a lot of stuff ... just not tolerance.

If Jesus preached tolerance, I doubt he would have said:

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." ((John 14:6))

This verse is the reason why people nowadays, who doubt the Bible and its word, consider most Christians, who agree and believe in this verse, intolerant.

What you see in the Bible, Ziff, and believe to be tolerance is compassion.

Of course, I may be wrong, so if you have evidence to back up your statement. I'll be glad to be proven so.

I suppose you have also read the fact that he attempt to teach acceptingness (nee. tolerance) to many towards the poor?

Also, remember, the Bible in and of itself is multi-faceted. And I don't see intolerance and such.

The word 'Christian' means Christ like. Christ is not the way "Christians" are today. I don't know what to tell people when they ask me if I'm a Christian or not. I hate all the things they stand for now. They're selfish people who won't exept anyone for who they are. They judge everyone thinking that they are all holy and shtuff. I love God but, Religeon SUCKS. The End.

I wouldnt go as far as saying religion sucks. It has positive and negative affects. Such as it is a unifying force of people with closely related beliefs. This definelty is a positive affect and it still does help alot of people out.

Trying to judge other people by your own beliefs isnt a smart thing to do, it just pushes people further away from you and your ideals.

They still stand for community and a healthy outlook on life. Dont completely rule it out as bad, not one person represents a movement and the same goes for the christian religion.

Human nature likes to harp on the negatives without looking at the positives.

MorbidMolly, that post is considered spam as it doesn't have any actual content to it and doesn't further the conversation in any way. In the future, please provide more thought and detail into your posts.

did you notice that the religion as less power than before, Its because of the science evolution,Example: When the religion started to say that washing is bad so people only washed themself 1 time in their life... for the baptem. But once the science proof that washing can reduce the sickness, people don't ask question and washed themself, I think that because anyone got a logic sense of truth so even the most deep inside religion will have a part of him saying Its all lie.
