Ziff, if that nickname was meant to be German, it must be "alte Hexe" (but I dunno know if it is meant that way )

Once I was very close - I was smaller and stood really close to a broad street. Suddenly a huge truck just missed me maybe twenty centimetres.
Other than that, two people almost died in the hospital last year - they fortunately got back somehow healthy, but this sucks and goes on the own nerves, especially when they are people you are very close to them.

Yeah I am serious. It hit the ground in front of me, it had only be raining for about 2 minutes when it happened. There was no shockwave or incredible heat. If it wasnt lightning, it was some kind of bright jagged line coming from the sky.

Yeah, probably just static discharge of sorts. There was a black spot in my driveway though.

I just had to ram my stomach against the corner of a table to adminster a sort of "auto-Heimlech" and I can control the muscles in my neck really well (being a wrestler in my weight division...Well, when you have a lot of weight going down on your neck...you get used to that kind of stuff and learn from it) I managed to dislodge the piece of food.

Ooh. I almost choked once but it turned out I wasn't in danger at all. I was eating this really stringy cheese thing and part of it went down my throat. I couldn't get it out, wash it down, etc... Finally I realized I was still holding the other end, and just pulled the whole thing right out.

well, it depends on how hot it was able to heat the air around it and for how long...i know when you heat something up very quickly and cool it very it quickly, the area effected isn't that big so yeah...it would have taken time for the heat to propagate...

But Ziff, it's a wonderful thing you can do the Heimlech to yourself. Where would this board be without a Ziff?

I don't recall any near death experiences...though I've gotten food stuck in my throat a few times .

As for lightning storms...I took a road trip last summer around the western states...you know, the deserts. And for that whole week, my dad and I were caught in near constant lightning storms, night and day. It was a bit scary, having lightning constantly going off around you while you're in the middle of nowhere on a pitch black night.
