I go for my license tommorow. Anything I should be aware of? I am not really nervous... I am more excited then anything. So I was thinking while driving I should go 90 and pull the E-Brake and pull a fishtail. What do you guys think? (kidding) But seriously any tips?

Mind the speed limit, make sure to stop completely and before the white line for stop signs and red lights. And use your turn signal.

Look over your shoulder on every single turn to the right for bikers or pedestrians. Whether or not it's a light, it doens't matter. I got marked down for that, bah. Also, be aware of your left hand turns, if you cross over lanes to get to your desired lane, they'll mark you down. Those are the only things I missed on my test, but I still passed on my first try. Good luck! |

don't run onto the curb--instant F drive at speed limit always look behind you when you drive backwards know your signals pedestrians ALWAYS GO FIRST regardless of them telling you to go ahead--instant F if you don't follow this and brake at a reasonable distance and don't forget, ALWAYS look at your blind spot when changing lanes, even if there are no cars around you |

Oh yeah, also keep glancing at your mirrors - be aware of cars around you.

This wasn't mentioned: emergency brake must work (and can't fuck up at all) all lights must work turn signals must work Then there's the default insurance card and etc stuffs in the glove box. Beyond that, it's a matter of keeping a cool head (which isn't hard). You should do just fine. |

Yes, documentation is good. Registration, insurance, identification, social security card, e-check if your state has it, etc.

bribe the teacher. other then that you'll probably do fine as long as you dont do something really horrible like run a red light. If old people can drive so can you. best of luck. |

A three-point turn is so-called because if you mess it up you get three points on your license. Remember that.

If you use your turn signal every time you turn, even when nobody's around, you'll get in the habit of using it pretty quickly. Also, don't forget to check your mirrors, and try to drive right at the speed limit; not too slow and certainly not too fast. |

Oh yeah, and every time you brake, you have to look in your rearview mirror, and every time you dont, you lose a point. I didn't have to do any three point turns or parallel parking, hopefully you won't either. |

#1. RELAX! #2. Legally, you should always turn into the closest lane, when turning left or right. Then, you give the signal, check back over you shoulder, and turn into the far lane if you need to be there. Most people never do that, but I usually do, unless I'm in a hurry or just in a careless mood. (edited by Xeolord on 07-26-05 02:19 PM) |

Exactly just relax and remember what you've learned about the road. I almost failed a part where you had to back up and go forward straight He was close to failing me he said but I got it on the last try. I forgot what else I missed but I think it was stopping and turning into the traffic fromt he right turn lane. If its early in the morning make sure you're awake

Yes, it could be worse. You could have a giant Driving Instructor who sounds like John Madden and will yell at you during all the simple seconds of your drive, and then force you to go to the nearest Gas Station so he can buy a Pepsi, and the kind of Peanuts you'd buy at a Baseball game, then put the Peanuts in the Pepsi to create one of the worst smells you will ever smell in your life everytime that bottle is opened. True story. That was my driving instructor. (edited by Xeolord on 07-27-05 12:00 PM) |

My instructor was awesome. Since I basically already knew how to drive, we just drove around. He did have me stop at CVS to pick up some Pepsi, but he got me one, too. And then we would go do the manueverability, but we'd see how fast we could do it. He was insane- he could do it at like 25 mph. |
