Bleh..let's try not to go overboard, I can see where this thread will go. I do -not- want people just linking to OCRemix songs and just saying "THIS IS COOL LISTEN". If you post a link, describe why you like it. Thanks. And this is directed to everyone, not necesarily the original poster.

What it is: Techno remix, Oedo Castle from Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (N64)
Why I like it: I made it no, but really. I liked the original song so I figured I'd do something cool to it. This is what came out of it. Blah, enjoy I guess.

Eh, it's a little hard to explain why you like 'music'.

But I like most of the stuff over at OCremix. Donkey Kong Country, Secret of Mana, Megaman, Super Metroid, and Zelda games all seem to have a slew of high quality remixes.

Some of the Relics of Chozo stuff is so good, I liked it more than music in Metroid Prime 1 and 2. I thought Protricity's mix of "Red Brinstar" would've been much cooler to hear in Metroid Prime 2 (the area that had that theme).

I like all of Donkey Kong Countries underwater theme mixes as well, they're all just very soothing and nice.

The Megaman mixes are more upbeat and faster paced, and it's just awesome hearing an updated slicker version of some awesome old 8bit themes.

So, yeah.

Yeah, I also wish there were actually some good Blaster Master mixes.

It has some great stuff, but there is definitely some games missing there.

What the shit? There are plenty of good SF2 mixes.

http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01036/ - I helped with the sax in this one.

House is underrepresented on OCR. There isn't enough soul, jazz and funk vibes to combat the overall dullness.

I only like a few songs from OCremix. However vgmix.com got a lot of kickass remixes.

From Within - The only DKC2 Mines remix that doesn't suck. It's a kickass guitar remix.
Megaman X - Storm Eagle Metal - A Metal remix of the Storm Eagle song from Megaman X made by the kickass band MegaDriver. Best thing is that they only make Metal remixes. Kickass ones.

Oh man, I could go on for hours listing them...

-Zelda Techno Remix by Salamander Square. I'm not sure what it's really called (maybe that?) or where to get it (found it on Kazaa just looking for Zelda music). It's 6:45 and SO awesome. It takes a bunch of Zelda songs and mixes them perfectly. The Lost Woods part will BLOW YOUR MIND.

-Bubble Bobble DjArcas Bubbl Techno OC ReMix. Bubble Bobble. 'Nuff said.

-Super Mario Bros 2 - Level 1 Remix by Insomnic. Eh, not sure how to describe it, but it's pretty good. A nice tehcno version of the level 1 theme.

-Zelda's Late Night Lullaby by MetalVapour. If you like NES-style music, you'll like this. It's similar but better quality. Lots of bass too.

-Sonic Adventure TheTwinkleParkClassic OC ReMix. Based on the already awesome Twinkle Circuit theme from Sonic Adventure, but with a 'softer' sound to it.

-Super Mario Bros 1 1 Hampton OC ReMix. Basically just the Super Mario Bros theme, re-arranged a bit and much higher quality. The kind of music Nintendo might use in an updated SMB port.

-The Ultimate Super Mario Bros. Remix by Sound Blaist. A sort of dance mix of the SMB theme. If you don't mind high-pitched notes you'll probably enjoy this. (It's again NESish, but not crappy quality.) The ~45-second 'intro' is pretty neat especially.

-Abandoned Theme (zelda remix) by the Obelisk device. A kind of gloomy, but rather cool song based on the Zelda 1 dungeon theme.

-Reel Big Mario - OC ReMix by Kaijin/JAXX - Marioland. A loud jazz version of the Super Mario Land theme.

-F-Zero X Expansion Kit's Rainbow Road theme. A rock remix of Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road by Nintendo. Very cool. (Hell, name one song from an F-Zero game that doesn't rock. Except maybe Death Wind if you don't like repetitiveness. )

-Not from a video game but I just had to point out how much Why from Inuyasha - My Will Single rocks. Especially the instrumental version. There's a lot of cool music in the Inuyasha albums, actually. (Check out One Day One Dream, and let it play for 50 seconds before you judge it. )

Unfortunately a lot of my best songs are random ones I found a looooong time ago on Kazaa with no ID3 information, so I can't tell what they're called or who wrote them.

Rudra's Concert, an unexpected remix of Surlent's theme from Rudra no Hihou ("Between Two Worlds" - I uploaded the original SPC file here, for comparison. Credits go out to the dumper Datschge - see ID3 tag info).

It begins silently with a piano solo and gains in volume and orchestra, also it got some additional tones - which make, until about 00:30 it might not be that good - but later it gets better and better. After one minute it plays that "refrain" (don't know the proper word, since this is no song for that ) begins. It might no be that powerful like most of the metalized tracks - which I also like - but a very neat remix
