I went to BlockBuster hoping to rent Conker a few days ago but they didnt have it...or anything else as a matter of fact. They did have Ico, and I decided to finally beat it. I played a little bit before but I gave it back to my friend before I beat it.

I beat it in under 2 days. In total maybe 10-15 hours. Im not saying that it sucked because it was short. Not even close. I loved the game! Short but Sweet.

Being as old as it is I was still amazed by the graphics. Many times I just stood still spinning the camera and marveling at the scenery.

And the Ending I thought was Brilliant!

Ico is the best game on the Playstation 2. Ico is a magnificant game that manages to jaw drop from the gameplay as well as the stunning graphics.

The over-saturated light that is so often used is way ahead of it's time. This effect is only just coming to be supported in hardware, and you'll see it a lot more. Even though there isn't anything special about the amount of polys used in the models, it's brought to life with the animation, lighting and sound. This is what makes Ico so special and so criminally overlooked when it comes to realism in games. It's the details that bring a game to life.

The fact that it makes experienced gamers fear losing Yorda is a testament to the game. The game makes you bond emotionally with the characters, with a fraction of the dialogue that is used by RPGs. Also, the lack of traditional gaming cornerstones, such as health, score and theme music is remarkable. Things that are taken for granted in other games. Ico completely ignored these traditions. Ico is a massively rewarding game, without score. It is an intensly atmospheric game, without continuous background music.

And the ending is the best ending to any game, bar none

Yeah I forgot to mention that the game didnt really have music but it still felt right. It was all about the atmosphere rather than a catchy jingle while you try and solve a puzzle.
