I played a lot of the RPGs mentioned but I'll vote for the most recent, that's Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. That game kept me busy all Spring Break. I played from when I wake up around 11am to 1pm till late at night 2 to 3 am, never turning off the Gamecube. I even forget to eat sometimes. I played beyond 3 pm when I made it to the last chapter because I wanted to beat the game. I ended up sleeping at 7am. Why did I play it too much? Here are some reasons. 1. A like the trouble center when you get to help people and get rewards and some of them were hard to get. 2. The story. I always wanted to know what would happen next. Now that I've beaten it, I won't be playing it as long as I used to. The part of the story I liked the most is the Glitz Pit level, it beats running around in a cave every day and the mystery solving and the fights were cool. That's pretty much it. |

Guess how many non-Square/Enix/Nintendo RPGs there are on the poll (not counting other)? TWO. Fucker. And you even left out the good Enix titles at that! And why did you throw in a strategy game in there? If you are going to have RPG/Strategies, there should be Bahamut Lagoon and Tactics Ogre AT LEAST, if not Fire Emblem series as well, because well, those are all popular titles. In other words, you should have ditched the poll. If we are including strategies, my favorite game is Chess. If we are including RPG/Strategies for game consoles, it is FFTactics, with Bahamut Lagoon somewhere up there. If we are including your typical one player RPGs, then there are too many I like. The best recent single player one is Neverwinter Nights. (edited by Kefka on 07-06-05 10:51 PM) |

Paper Mario 1 was really awsome. It had a lot of originality and in a way brought on the era of artsy games focusing on different effects instead of just having top of the line 3-D all the time. It was a really good game with lots of humor, thanks to the witty American translation team. =P Snika |

Until I see otherwise, Disgaea. Course I guess that would be SRPG...but still. Not saying FF or KH isn't great or several other dozen RPGs I've played...but for all practical purposes, this one gets my vote. |

I still want to play Disaea REALLY badly. I'm not sure, there are way to many RPGs to pick a favorite one. |

Hands down, I'd say Tales of Symphonia for myself. I'm on my seventh playthrough, and still not bored with it, but that's because there's still some things I haven't gotten yet If I had to pick a second, I'd say Secret of Mana (not Seiken Densetsu 3). I've only played that on an emulator, but it was still quite fun. It's the only game I've played besides Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles that had that certain sort of battle system, which was easy to use, and a nice change from the turn-based battles in other RPGs. I actually can't think of too many RPGs that I've played, and liked enough to remember right now Those two above are definitely my favorites of the ones that do come to mind though Finally, I voted "Other", in case it matters to anyone |

Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Chrono Trigger, Seiken Densetsu 3 and Tales of Phantasia in no specific order. But if I had to pick one, it'd most probably be Chrono Trigger. | |||

Yeah, I've heard multiple people say it's the best SRPG out there. I just wish it was easier to find, and possibly cheaper. Whenever I see it it's usually going for $40 or more, at local stores. Yeah, I'm sure it's worth it, but usually rare SNES games catch my eye and my money goes to that. |

I just recently beat Super Mario RPG again. I felt like tearing when I beat the game and the credits rolled. Just a great game I played a lot back in the day, brought back memories and everything. My only complaint: The game is by far WAY too easy, and it seems rather short, and level 30 being max? Meh, at least it's one of the few RPG's out there with fun minigames. |

Originally posted by XeolordThat's true a lot of the mini-games are awesome. I don't know about the game being short, I still need to beat it (I've been planning on doing so, but I've been so busy). But 30 levels max is just way too little. If I get to level 30 after a while, I'll probably use the PAR code to make them level 31. I think that's fair. |

How the hell is Paper Mario an option and not Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, FFX, etc? |
