Abyssion on Mania + All Divide works well for combos. That is, if he doesn't teleport.

Edit: Decided to put a few Tales of Symphonia songs on my MP3 player, earlier today. This game has fucking awesome music.

Change the difficulty level to "Hard" and that's exactly where I got my second-highest combo count. The only thing I can see getting in the way of a high combo is the fact that it takes a lot of hits to make him flinch. Since you mentioned them, here's another question I have: are all items that affect the whole battle stackable? For instance, let's say you used two Palma Potions on Lloyd. Would his attack get reduced by 40% instead of the normal 20%?

As for what you said about music, I'd have to agree as well My favorite would be "The End of a Thought" (that was the default name for the song in the soundtrack I downloaded). It's the music that plays when you fight Kratos on your own (hopefully that isn't too much of a spoiler for anyone that hasn't made it there yet). Other than that, I've always found the Katz Village music to be catchy as well.

Now for something else that came to mind while I was looking through the sidequests section of my guide. I can't remember the exact time in the game it happened to me, but I'd been to Triet once, escaped the Sylvarant Base, and went back to the inn in Triet (I can't remember it's name, if it even had one), to refill my health and the like. The screen faded to black and the tune played as normal, then the screen lit up again, with Collette yelling about something, Lloyd running over to her, and asking what happened. She says something about how there was another person in the room, and I believe says that whoever the imposter was, was trying to steal their equipment.

I managed to trigger a similar occurence once more at the same inn after that one, and yet another from the inn in Palmacosta. Unfortunately, I don't remember what I did to trigger them aside from sleeping at the inn.

Do any of you know more about the purpose of that? I can't really see it being an important thing, as it doesn't stop you from starting or finishing any other sidequests, and you can obviously go through the game without even running into it once

I find it especially odd that none of the guides I've ever looked at have anything regarding it, and that includes both guides on the internet, and the one I bought.

Probably my favorite, too (and yes, this is the good name, the one on the official OST). Not only does it pwn, but the fight is my favorite.

As for stackable items, I dunno. I don't have the game (I had it borrowed from someone).

And there's tons of small scenes like this to see.

So far my favorite theme would be the cave / dungeon theme. The quality seems a bit off, like something you'd hear on an SNES maybe, but that doesn't mean I don't like it, it's awesome.

I'm on the 3rd continent now, that really huge one in the NE area.

I see. I thought that if you managed to view enough, whoever the imposter was would eventually get caught, and that might possibly change the story a bit, but it doesn't really matter either way

I started another new game on the weekend. Hopefully this time, Zelos will come to the door during the section where you go to Flanoir to find a doctor. Last time, I got Colette, and getting another Snow Bunny didn't do me any good I chose "Increased Tension" and the option to reset the characters' opinons of you in the GRADE Shop, so with luck, things will work this time through.

As far as progress goes, I'm up to seeing Magnius in Palmacosta right now. I actually managed to beat the Skeleton Dancer's first form as soon as you can get to it. Of course, I'm playing on the easiest difficulty, to make things go by quicker

After that, there's the fun chore of finding all the enemies in the game, and letting Raine use a Magic Lens on them (according to the guide, that's the only way to fill in the location and AA (whatever that stands for) for any given monster in the game).

I like the ranch in that area, if only for fighting and beating the boss (you may see why when you get there) That reminds me that I should go to Luin first, to see what sort of stuff they sell before they can't anymore Good luck with your game though

Spoiler:
Getting Kratos to come at that moment is alot better. You learn much more about the story.

I don't know if it's possible to quote a spoiler, so I just put everything into a table, as you can see.

Anyways, I think I got Kratos to come to the door on my third playthrough. I followed the guide I'd downloaded to the letter, in regards to viewing the four skits where you train with him, choosing to take him along in the Asgard Ranch, and generally doing what was possible to keep him and Lloyd on good terms.

As for what you said about learning more about the story, during the scene in Flanoir, I took time to read every little thing he had to say I still have my save file (it's #136, I think), where I got him, just in case I want to play with that party, and don't want to go through a bunch of the game to do so.

I don't think so In fact, I probably haven't even talked to Pietro about fixing it up yet I'll do that tonight, provided I've got enough Gald

Now, here's a question I have in regards to armor for Zelos: is there some certain requirement you have to meet, in order for Koton to sell the Golden Armor to you? I asked, because it's the only thing I haven't ever gotten that's required to get the Gilgamesh title

Edit: No, the guide I have doesn't say whether there is or not. It just tells me what items I need to have equipped, then to go win a battle.

Man it's so tempting to read all of your quotes DarkSlaya and Karadur.

But yeah, I'll definitely be playing this game "differently" on my 2nd playthrough. One of my friends told me that you can actually get to the 3rd continent before you go to the 2nd one (the SE one, with Palmacosta, etc), and I just know for a fact I've missed a lot.

Anyways, I got up to a 42 hit combo, not bad I'd say for the levels I'm at, I'd think? Most of my characters are around 22-23.

But yeah, I don't care if you guys spoil this, but am I close to getting the blue haired Ninja-ish girl? (that's on the cover?)

And a question ... I've noticed you can change the difficulty during the game at anytime mainly, what exactly does that do? Just make the enemies harder?

I'm just wondering if you get more Exp in battles in Hard Mode, I doupt it though, cause that could easily be abused.

All changing the difficulty does, as far as I know, is increase mobs stats. As in HP, MP, STR, and the like.

You don't get more EXP in Hard mode, but you can get 2x and 10x EXP with GRADE points on your second run through the game.

Normal - 1x HP, 1x Dmg
Hard - 1.5x HP, 1.5x Dmg - Less Grade
Mania - 2x HP, 2x Dmg - Less Grade

So yeah, at mania ennemies take 2times more time to kill and deal twice as much damage than at normal.

Edit: And the blue-ish haired ninja girl, called Sheena, should be close.

And as for the continents, I've done the 3rd before the second, and crap.... I got lost and nearly got killed

Well, it really depends on how you answered Colette when Sheena fell in the hole at the entrance to Ossa Trail. If you chose the "I Hope She's Okay" type option, you'll get her sooner than if you chose the other one. You'll get her eventually either way though

I only see changing the difficulty as being good for getting some titles. For one of Lloyd's, you have to switch to either Hard or Mania (I believe it's Hard, as if I remember right, you don't get Mania until you beat the game once), and fight 256 battles. There's also another one you get for Lloyd, by not running from a single battle until you fight a boss much later in the game (from where you are).

As far as going to the third continent before the second goes, I started going up to the third continent the first time I played the game, but as soon as I started running into stronger monsters (Cockatrices and such), I turned back Apparently it's perfectly possible to get stuck there, with the only way out being completing what needs to be done there

Finally, as for the combo you're at now, I'd say that's pretty good as well, given your characters' levels. I didn't reach that number until I got to, well, you'll find out soon enough

I like the game, but what really bothers me is the terrible voice over acting. I think it just kills it. Lol. I'm embarrased to play the game in front of anyone just because of that. It's just some of the actors are good, but other are just horrible and it makes me want to slap them.

37 Is my highest combo. Holy I have no idea how you could have gotten more than 100.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but I'm interested in purchasing this game (it's 15 dollars at local gamestop D=) and I'm curious about what the multiplayer gameplay is like. I've read multiple reviews and none seem to give any comment on it. However, the box says 1 player or 2 to 4 players? Can someone please explain what it's like? Are there any player versus player side games or things like that?

I'd be happy to. It's really kind of weird. Out of battle, Player 1 controls everything (but other players can pause). In battle, players control one of the characters. Unlike a normal RPG, battles are not turned based. Instead, it's real-time. I don't know about any multi-player mini-games, though. Anyway, it's fun for everyone, providing Player 1 isn't stupid and doesn't avoid battles.

My favorite character is Genis, and has been ever since I saw an advertisement for it.

Yes, like Peardian said, the multiplayer is only in battles. But it's worth it. While playing 1 players is fun, multiplayer is even funnier (with smart people )
