Like my title says, this game has me.

Luckily I found it for $20, when at other stores I'm still seeing it go for $40 or more.

But yeah, I just met Magnius and saved this shop keepers mother from being executed. So far, I'm really enjoying this game. It seems to have an interesting story that I'm sure will take some changes (it just seems too obvious), the music is great, the setting is awesome, and the gameplay just kicks ass.

The humor is enjoyable too, and I can honestly say the voice overs aren't that bad (and I'm usually critical on those). Collette's is somewhat annoying though ...

So, has anyone else played this game before? I've seen people say that they've beaten it like 3 times, and that the game can be well over 70 hours ... so, finally I've got my hands on a new "long" RPG.

its a very enjoyable game, love it, beat it in 30 hours...although, could have been shorter, there was one part when I got lost for a good hour and a half, but finally found my way, and that 30 hours was looking alot for secrets and hidden stuff...but for some reason I always beat games before the amount of time it says it should take...

Yeah I've noticed I've been missing out on a lot of items and stuff. In the Fire Cave I missed a few rooms and well, couldn't go back. Same with one of the Ranch bases.

At least I'm a leveler and enjoy leveling my characters, just hopefully I haven't missed out on any kind of important items, weapons, or whatever.

I got this game as a present some time ago, but I can't force myself to play it. The darn thing's German, and I don't understand German.

Sigh, oh well, guess I have other games... Feel bad about this one, though...

Own it. It took me slightly more than forty hours to beat it, without any kind of strategy guide. And I have to say that I absolutely love it to death. It's seriously one of my favorite RPGs, because IMO, the plot is very intricate. It's too bad that there aren't many side quests, though...after the main quest, that's pretty much it.

I dunno what you're talking about Fire, the game had quite a few side quests and sub plots and things. Maybe you didn't find them, but there are quite a few, uncursing all the weapons or something was a hard one if I rememberr correctly.

I've beaten it three times, on my third game file, I have a lot of the bonuses and stuff and I'm trying for max level, I lost intrest in doing that a while ago, but it is a great game. The battle system is my true love though

This = FUCKING BEST GAME EVER.

Played it to death, know(knew) everything there is to know about it. Can beat any boss with 1 character without even trying. (And beat the game in about 20hours, my last one).

There are a few plot twist, that I enjoyed. Finding some good weapons is fun, and best of all -

That pretty much sums up how I feel about the game, except without the second word It seems even moreso when I consider that I bought the game pretty much on impulse I also thought it wouldn't be very good, as the game I'd bought most recently before this one was Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, and I really didn't like it

Last I knew, I was on my 7th playthrough, still trying to get a few titles for various characters (Sheena's "Treasure Hunter" title still eludes me, as does the one you get from comlpeting the Old Man Game in Triet).

I bought a guide for the game when I was applying for a job at EB Games last week sometime, specifically for the purpose of having everything involving the game contained in one place, instead of spread through various text files on my computer. So far it's been sitting on the pillow on my upper bunk collecting dust, as I bought 9 games for my DS / GBA, and 3 for the Gamecube in the past month, so I'm busy with them If I may say though, whoever made the book did a bad job with the bestiary. In the pictures of the two bosses you have to fight in the Forbidden Anamnesis (so help me. I can't remember the common name for it), it shows their HP, TP, and several other stats, while every other picture is just of the enemy.

The only part that I got stuck on was finding the Linkite Tree. Before I found out where it was, I thought it was at the highest point in Sylvarant (that's what I get for not reading the Synopsis entry carefully ), so I spent a half hour or so scouring the mountains near Hima on the Rheairds

One other problem aside from that, was that I found the normal / boss battles (besides fighting Abyssion in the sidequest, obviously) too short, or over too quickly. I'd prefer to have something where you could fight an invincible enemy, just to see how much damage you could get, or how high you could go on a combo. I suppose you could go back to Halo (the shop in Iselia), and buy the beginning weapons, then go fight the dragon in the Earth temple or something (at least you'd be getting a good deal of Gald that way), but you'd end up killing it sooner or later.

My first playthrough took close to 60 hours (although you'll understand why if you read the paragraph two above this one, and I know I missed some items near the end of the game, because as soon as I realized I could head right to the final battle, I did so without exploring the rest of the castle. If I remember right, that was the game I beat using the Material Blade (I'm pretty sure those are the fire and water swords).

In all, it's still the favorite game of my collection, and probably will be for quite some time to come

Edit: Remembered the common name for the Forbidden Anamnesis: Niflheim.

I missed so much stuff. I just plowed through until I couldn't plow any more. I got so tired of it because I skipped the talking and kept fighting and leveling up...and missing every hidden item that my character didn't trip over.

That stinks. Because it has a good storyline, and GOOD voice acting (unlike every other RPG with voice acting).

Judging by some of the posts here ... does this game have some kind of a New Game + feature? I've heard so many people say "I've gone through it several times to get everything" so it kind of sounds like it.

I haven't played it in a few days, I'll have to play some tonight. I'm now going into the 2nd Ranch to take out Magnius I believe.

Yeah, I decided to go in and save Chocolat and not find out what General Dohr was up to, I hope that was the best choice.

Once you beat the game, if you try to continue from the file you just beat, you'll have the option of starting a new game, and purchasing various upgrades with the GRADE you collected. You can buy the ability to hold 30 of each item, instead of the usual 20, you can take the gald you collected in your previous game over into the new one (I'm up to nearly 17 million with that feature ), get more experience after a battle, etc. Check the GameFAQs code page for the game to see a full list of the stuff

As far as I know, the only thing you've missed is fighting a boss, and finding out the passcode to get into the ranch I always choose to go back to Palmacosta first, as you get a Heal Charm (or something like that) from the boss, which heals 10% of your health with each enemy you kill, provided you have it equipped. You should still be able to progress further though

Edit: Changed some wording.

I looked FOREVER for a strategy guide to the game, and I could NEVER find one. What company wrote it? Are there even any available?

Aside: That explains why I couldn't do all the side quests...

The guide I got has a big banner across the top that says something or other about Bradygames Here it is on their website. I payed something like $20 for it however, so I don't know why the price there is so low. It's helpful for sidequests and such, as it lets you know when one becomes available, or is about to become unavailable in the actual walkthrough, instead of in some sort of "extras" section.

Oddly enough though, I didn't see a guide for the game anywhere else, until me and a friend went out to EB Games to see if they had any copies of Conker: Live and Reloaded for sale. I know it doesn't help you any, but there was more than one guide for the game in the rack as well.

On the topic of sidequests, if you're still trying to find out how many there are, and how to go about doing them, you could always check here, if you haven't already Hopefully that link works, as last time I tried to link to a file on GameFAQs, I got a "Remote linking forbidden" type error

On a side note for the game, how many of you actually use Unison Attacks on the bosses and such? I never did on any of the three difficulties, partially because I didn't know any of the move combinations That's something I'm glad I got the guide for as well The few times I actually did use one, I just tapped random buttons until the time ran out

(thought I'd quote you, but your post is pretty big)
Karadur: Ah, the Unision Attacks, honesly they don't seem to be all that great. I've got Colette throwing her disc things at the enemy, Kratos smacking them, and then Lloyd actually doing a "combo attack".

So, in the end I usually can pull off more damage by just having Lloyd attack with Kratos or someone.

I don't know, maybe I need to actually customize the U Tech Commands or something?

But yeah:
Spoiler:
Just blew up the 2nd ranch. Didn't play much after that, but after work today I'll probably play quite a bit since I don't have any plans for tonight

Sorry about the length of that post I'm used to typing out the code for quotes by hand, so it never really crosses my mind that other people don't do the same thing Anyways...

Well, that's definitely recommended if you're going to make use of them through the game The only thing I could see being annoying is having to reconfigure your Unison Attack commands if you want to use different attacks I imagine you will have to reconfigure the commands eventually if you want to make full use of all the attacks.

There was a movie of someone fighting Abyssion in the japanese version of the game included in the game soundtrack that I downloaded (don't ask me why they put a movie in there), and it makes it pretty obvious that learning the different combinations definitely are worth it.

Here's another question that just came to mind while thinking about Unison Attacks, and the amount of hits they do. What's the highest you've gone in terms of combos? I think I'm around 57, as I don't yet have Lloyd's title you get for doing a 60-hit combo.

Spoiler:
Set up the U attack with indignation and ray (I think) with Genis and Raine. This will give the attack Prism Stars (One of the best in the game.) Which gives 30 hits + on its own.

Yeah I love this game. I was a lot of fun, but I have moved on and haven't found a game as good yet.

Perhaps you would be willing to tell those that want to know what enemy you performed that on? My highest combo was done on the dragon in the Earth Temple, with the least powerful weapons I still had for my characters (I'd say which, but I don't want to spoil anything for Xeomega, or anyone else who's reading this thread, and still going through the game for the first time).

I wonder if it would make getting a high combo any easier, to have a second player (human, obviously) or more work with you, and just hit the enemy by using an A button attack one after the other. Then again, it'd likely end up going into Overlimit mode eventually

Don't worry. I remember the first time I played the game, I thought getting a 10 hit combo was good Then I got several new Techs, including Sword Rain, and the better versions of it, which made the number go much higher than what I had been getting
