Edit 04-17-04 04:14 AM: NEW TO THE SIM-BATTLE ARENA AND/OR THE BOARD AND/OR MESSAGE BOARDS IN GENERAL? READ HERE

Howdy fellow Acmlm's Board members. This place has been devoid of a FAQ for the longest time.. so I thought I'd finally make one. Most of these rules should be common sense. However, there are some people who have different views of what common sense is, so this should help clarify what's fair for all.

The first rule of the Sim-Battle is to don't talk about Sim-Batt-- erm.. no.. wait..

1a. Don't be cheap. You shouldn't ignore the actions of others. If you're gonna dodge or block something, you had better have a good reason for doing so. And its rare for a good reason ever appearing.

1b. Don't be cheap. Others decide whether they are damaged or not. It's not exactly fair to go and kill someone, and it's even less fair if you post a message saying the opponent was hurt or something when the opponent never actually posted that it actually occured.

2. Damage and Stuff. No health recovery! It's understandable to use a healing move to close up your wounds, or to remove a poison, but not to use a healing move to heal your HP, health, stamina or whatever you want to call it.

3. Roleplaying. A slight amendment to the first rule. There may be times where one needs to slightly control the opponent's movement (not what they're saying/thinking/etc). On most ocassions, this is done for grabbing and throwing. It may be slightly ok for this to be done, but there must be a good reason for it. The reason is mostly for someone walking into a trap, or just flat out "asking" for it. Just try not to make your opponent look like a weakling.

4. Interference. This is quite flexible, actually. By default, there's only going to be one side versus another side. If spectators are allowed (by default), there can be people just watching the fight. Unless it's been mentioned at the beginning, there can't be any interference from other people. However, a way to get interference is to have one of the fighters attack or use the spectators in someway.

5. Saiya-jin-y-ness. NO TELEPORTATION! I think that speaks for itself.

If there are any questions, feel free to ask.

Edit 04-08-04 06:27 PM : If I see anyone that's just flat out causing trouble, I will delete those posts. If you see someone causing trouble, please PM me about it.

Edit 09-22-04 01:47 PM : Forgot to mention Teddylot's entry there... Take a look at it by clicking on this text.

I have a few questions my character Dark Pheonix has like a move that will bring him back if the attack that killed him was strong enough. examples would be like really powerful magic or really strong energy moves.

He has a teleporting move but it kind of opens a gate that anything can pass through for like 1 minute. He has to throw his spear and where ever it hits is where the other end opens up.

I am not sure if these moves are allowed tell me if it is ok or not.

Well, first off.. I really don't think we should be killing anyone here K.O.ing is good, but killing? Where's the challenge in that? Besides, it's your choice to be killed. And if you come back to life, that's considered healing... Like I said.. it's your choice to die. And it won't be cheating if you refuse to die

It's rare for the battle to be not over when someone has died or got knocked out or something.

About the teleportation... As long as there's two gates (One side and the other) and ANYTHING and ANYONE can pass through, it should be alright.

This thread is way overdue. In my fights alone, I have seen massive violation of these rules, and rules of the same nature.

Attention all: Read the rules. Everyone will have much more fun that way.

I personally believe that the "No Healing rule" could be ignored if all the people involved ok it. Healing allows a battle to last longer than normal, and let people use more powerful moves.

Well, the thing is, most people seem to have an uncanny amount of stamina in these battles. Most battles last long even if there wouldn't be healing.

I hate to rain on your parade but there are some characters who simply cannot die or be killed. Raziel, from the legacy of kain for example, when killed, simply returns to the spiritual realm, where he finds a conduit from which he can re-enter the material realm, at decent health. and if he dies in the spiritual realm, he simply goes back to the last checkpoint. so he, in essence, is truly immmortal, so would a character such as this be dissallowed in this battle arena or would he be allowed to respawn each time he was slaughtered (granted someone could get to him, and if he is victorious, he has the option to consume their soul. thus removing them from the entire picture.

Some? What do you mean some? More like half the people here Including my character. (He's always got one life in stock, however..)

Anyway... If you die, you lose. Even if you've got lots of lives in stock. You die, you lose. It's just like getting knocked out, except there's the whole death-life issue that's being thrown around.

Geez.. the youth of these days.. all they want to do is kill, kill, kill. They're not satisfied with just winning.

If he hasn't replied in a week, then you have the right to whine. Not everyone on this board spends all their time here, you know.

I, personally, can take up to a week to think out my next step in a duel.

What are the rules regarding summons/special abilities, one per battle, or does it vary on intensity/strength? Do elemental powers apply? can two people challenge eachother repeatedly? each time creating a new thread, or should they use the same old thread again? If a thread remains idle is it deleted? can currently existing characters (i.e. Raziel: Legacy of Kain : Mario: Nintendo ; Iron man: Marvel) be used , or are we encouraged to create our own? Can one use multiple characters? If so, can those characters work together? Can they summon eachother at will?

Sheesh, so many questions

Basically, it's up to the fighters to make up those kind of rules. By default, it's more of an "anything goes" type of thing. Like.. if it's not a mentioned rule, then it could be done.

Summons and special abilites can be done as much as you like. Special abilities are things that allows people to do stuff.

The strength of the attack should be determined by how well it's described.

It's your choice if an elemental power is applicable.

You can keep challenging each other, but you had better finish your fight with that person before starting a new one. Don't start cluttering up forum with a bunch of rematches of fights that never finished.

If a thread is idle, it'll stay there until someone posts in it. However, it can be closed.

You can use existing characters if you like. And you can use original characters. Most of the people around here use original characters, or characters based off of existing characters.

It's up to you and your opponent if you want to have NPC allies, as well as summoning.

This post has the Kirbynite seal of approval.

The wily teddy bear, Teddylot, sprints in with a long roll of parchment that trails behind him. He immediately dashes up to the tallest podium over-looking the many respectable Sim-Battlers.

Teddylot: *clears throat* Hi there, everybody! I

If you regenerate your health after the battle (reset health to max) is that healing.
Say, for instance, I lose 98% of my health, but I survive and the battle ends. Do I get my health back??
