| I have asked this in another thread, but didn't get any responses. I might as well ask out here where everyone can see. I (and im sure a few others), need a patch that will load new overworld graphics no matter what kind of entrance you use. Currently, the game will load up new graphics ONLY if you enter a new map using a pipe or star. It will not load new graphics if you enter by regular submap exit. Here are some screens of what I mean: ![]() This is the overworld. I entered it via that moon, so the graphics are fine. But now I am about to enter the forest (indicated by the red arrow). ![]() This is exactly what it looks like when entered. As you can see, that isn't what it's suposed to look like. And here is just a shot so your eyes don't hurt looking at those glitched graphics ![]() ![]() Lunar Paradise. The names good right? I couldn't think of anything better, and didn't want to use Moon World or Moon Road .But ya, I need a patch that will load new graphics no matter what kind of entrance/exit is used. If someone could help me out, that would really be appreciated . Thanks. |

![]() ![]() um keikonium, try to make the forest and the other map screen use the same GFX if possible, but if it is not, you need a patch (edited by smwedit on 06-23-05 05:11 PM) |

| They show up fine for me. Anyways, While I don't know how to fix this, I do beleive I know what needs to be done in order to. Do you know how to use a tracer? If so, trace the code executed when mario uses a pipe or star tile. I'm betting that it is a subroutine, because several layer one tiles reload graphics. If it is, and I am guessing correctly that the tracer will display the subroutine, copy down the address. Then find where the code for the regular exits are, and add a JSL or a JSR, whichever fits, and then save. Hopefully, that will work. | |||

I have no clue how to use a tracer, but because this is a really big problem with my hack, I will search google for how to do this stuff. I will use gigers snes 9x tracer (sorry if thats spelt wrong), for all of this and hope I figure something out . Or coarse I will test on a back up rom .So thanks for the help darkflight, and if I do figure this out, I can post an IPS of an unedited SMW game (with this fix) and that way others can use it. All of you have been such a help to me, that I think I should give something in return. |

| Yeah, geiger's is supposed to be really good. Anyways, I am getting better at ASM, so I'd be happy to help you if you needed it. EDIT: I forgot to say, forget googling. Go to the ROM hacking forum and get the latest version tere, as well as any help you need. (edited by Darkflight on 06-24-05 09:18 PM) |
