I think it looks a bit "Sonic-ish" for a Mario hack, but it still looks good... Luigi turned into Mario..

I guess I should say it here: There is no seasons aspect in the game anymore. I took that idea out because I felt like I couldn't execute it very well, so I'm just gonna keep doing stuff to keep the game flowing. It's already an excellent hack and things are definitely different from SMB3 and MA. Once the first demo comes out, you won't be disappointed ;D

And as for the Luigi Sprites: if you look in earlier screenshots, you'll see that some sprites are Luigi-ish from SMAS, not mario, so I'm still working on putting those in.

When you earn a new skill, it's added to your list. Once you earn a skill, you keep it, even if your score falls below the normal required score to obtain it (yes, you can lose score by dying). You'll change abilities on the map screen by using select. The skill you see with the weird sparkles is a temporary tile I used to show where it would display. The current skills are: 2x invincibility, shell sleeper (some here may have heard it called monster tamer), 4x recoil invincibility, and jump higher. I should have about 8, maybe more in all.

As one who has tested a couple versions of the game, trust me, it stands just fine without the seasons In fact, I daresay it would have become limited with the season aspect still in it.

Compliment and a stupid question.

Compliment: Looks incredible so far. The sewers... Just wow. Amazing detail... Looks like an SNES game, but with the NES color depth. Same Mario 1 colors, too.

Stupid question: Is there any possibility that the seasons may be in the game, just as... Like, color and slight graphic changes, with no impact on gameplay? Any direction you take the game is bound to be great, but extra eye candy never hurts... Even if in only 1 level.

Extra eye candy is definitely something that's gonna be in this one, but as far as the seasonal aspect: I COULD make it a theme for an entire world, sort of how Click Clock (or is that Tick Tock?) Woods in Banjo and Kazooie. For more eye candy...



I used a very cheap method to produce a transparency effect, sure, but it works. Plus, I had to add a handful of code to make it so that the water was foreground, since every tile in SMB3 is background by default. Plus, you can't see it here, that water Luigi is in has current to it, like in SMW, ;D

Hm, learning skills is a pretty awesome idea. I'm not sure if I'd do it via earning points, but whatever... as long as you can't earn points in the cheap "kill infinite enemies with a shell" or whatever manner.

I've taken precautions against people being able to earn the abilities quickly. I like doing the score idea because it forces people to go for the high score, which is something I see a lot of people don't even bother doing nowadays, plus, it gives another purpose to the score beyond getting the n-spade card game.
