I was using the Super Mario Bros Title Screen Editor, (http://www.pluto.dti.ne.jp/~peru/mario/smbte/index.html) but when I try to edit it the pallete turns green.

There picture is here

Is that what it looks like in the EDITOR or in the GAME? Cause if it is in the editor, then it probably is supposed to be that way, and it will look normal when it is in the game. But if it's in the game... ask someone else

Thats how it looks like in the game.
In the editor it looks perfect. Just the way I want it but it doesn't appear that way in the game.

It's Ver1.0b, so it's a beta (I'm guessin) Stag019. Since the readme is in Japanese, you might wanna PM Heian-794 and if he's not busy, maybe he can translate the readme for you. I use this to edit my SMB1 title screen, so to make it look decent I had to shorten the title screen so that cloud graphic wouldn't show. Hope I was somewhat helpful to ya's.

I played with it in almost every way I can think of and I keep noticing the same exact bug.

I even opened up my ROM and changed one letter in the title (I had hexed in normal lettering so I could use the extra tile space for game gfx) from an S to a J (so it said "JUPER TOAD BROS") and saved just to see if its a bug in the editor. Even when I was only changing one letter I still got that funky green/blue pallete bug.

It has to be in the editor.

Let the editor turn everthing green. When you're done using the title screen editor, open up your ROM in a hex editor and change the palletes back to what they should be.

It doesn't change any of the basic pallete data heran, it changes the pallete group used FOR the intro screen. By all means, let us know where to change that back and we'll do it

Well, I changed the green palette through FCEUXD, the green title screen shares the same palette as the pipes, mountains & bushes. The editor is the problem, like Omniverse said.

I tried not editing anything just clicking result and save and it still messed it up.
Next, just to see what would happen, I made a patch having the messed up Super Mario Bros. the original and the good one the modified. Then I patched that to the game I'm making and put the picture on the website.
http://www.superborosbros.20m.com
(It's the second picture)

And one more thing to note is that although its not in the picture, it changed the copyright from C 2005 Stag back to C 1985 Nintendo.

So any more suggestions?

You can change the text with SMBUtility, and also you might want to change the title screen through a hex editor, I don't know off the top of my head how to go about it, but it has been done. I think the title screen is compressed if I am not mistaken. I really hope I was somehwhat helpful...

Easy to find...

Just don't edit anything and save it. If it saves and it's green, good.

Now compare the ROM you now have with the old one and find what changed and change it back.

If so, fixed, congradulations

Just so you guys know, it's using the palette for the background. Such as the bushes and stuff...

Thats what happened to my Mushroom Nightmare game, and I just worked around it.

Change the type of level it is to a red level if that will fix it.

Xkeeper's solution works well. What a smart bastard! Yea, so, with level editors out and what not, it shouldn't be too hard to redo all the levels after you've already done the title screen fix.

Actually Xkeeper's solution didn't work well. I tried that with patching, but it didn't work. When I looked at it in a hex editor it found that the problem was from offset 9ED0 to the end (A010). However looking at three files confused me way too much. So I ended up trying it with a hex editor, like Kasper said.

It worked! I used the tile editor by reading the hex of each tile horizontally . Then I look for that in a hex editor after the 9ED0. And I found it. Theres only one slight problem.

It may be compressed in other parts of the title screen, but from what I was working with it is compressed at only at one point. If you look at the third picture at http://www.superborosbros.20m.com you will know what I mean. In the third row the first 8 tiles are the same. I know how to change all of them (offset 9F59) however it changes all of them and not individually. So besides that it's done!

Thanks to everyone who posted but again I'm not 100% done with the title screen. If anybody knows how to fix the compression I would greatly appriciate it.

Clearly, I should try things out before deeming them operable.
