That's possible...

Back when I had 56k, it was unlimited and worked fine with my final provider... too bad that my first two providers were more unreliable than my DSL. Early days.

My old dialup was pretty stable too, except for the fact it never ever went above 31.2kbps (on a 56k modem), and it supported compression too ... my biggest download was only 26MB (Zelda 64 ROM, with Netscape 6 coming close) but I've still done quite a bit with the dialup ... then I got cable and the speed went up by about 100x

I know there's 64kbps and 128kbps ISDN, but any other speed only slightly above dialup seems weird ... especially now that ISP's here offer over 100x dialup speed for maybe twice the price

Jesus christ. I'm glad I started with cable in 2000. The only others in my family that had internet access all had dialup/very slow DSL.

Wooh, the ACS prove one good thing. It's active members that got powers!

And Acmlm posted, that's always good. I can see that's a old screenshot from Windows 98, as dial-up looks diffrent in Windows XP. Hehe, I remember how we shared a dial-up connection at home (so everyone at the network could surf) but you can bet it was hellish slow...
