Yeah, a sticker on the Dark Prophecy Cartridge would rock. I plan to render up a cool 3d scene in 3DSMAX and photoshop some text onto it which ill print out onto a sticker. Im thinking of a cool mountain scene where link is looking down onto hyrule, or perhaps a nice water scene from like Zoras Domain or somethin cool like that. Ill model the 3d scene after areas in DP. I am great with scenes, so it should turn out well. Ill probably post it here when im done so that people can print out their own stickers.

Not for real games, but something like this, a Rom Hack, or maybe a Translated game (i.e. Seiken Densetsu 3).

have a look at my page, then:
http://snesdev.romhack.de

there are several step-by-step guides on how to assemble snes cartridges from roms.
for zelda 3, you'd proceed just like treasure hunter g (well, unless you convert the whole game to hirom like i did, but i havent touched my zelda 3 files for ages. )

its not that hard, actually.

The only problem is it doesn't seem like I'd be able to put SD3 on a ntsc cart, would I?

Hopefully there is a way, regardless, those tutorials are nice, and I'll probably try this out once I can get my hands on a few extra cartridges or something.

I suggest visiting your local Funcoland / gmaestop etc.
that way you'll be able to get carts with special attachments like FX chips if you ever need it.

I thought that Funcoland turned INTO gamestop when Barnes & Nobles bought them. I haven't seen a Funcoland in... 6 years? Shit, if gamestop sells hardware like that that would be awesome.

they don't sell the FX chips, etc, they sell carts which you can get those chips from.

edit: if they sell snes games at all. I usually go to a local place called BuyCo. At least, I think they're local. Most if not all funcolands became gamestops, as far as I know.

Yeah, for some of the more advanced games, you will need to use carts with special chips in them, but the beauty of zelda is that it could go on almost any cart cause it doesnt use any special hardware. If your interested in putting other games on, you should look for a cartridge list online... There are some real cheap games that use FX chips like Stunt Race FX and such. For Zelda DP, you will be able to use almost any cart though.

in my opinion, the best solution would be to simply buy an old Zelda LTTP cart, that way there is NO POSSIBLE ERROR in chips or connector pins.

That's correct. If you hack a ROM, the best board for it will always be the one from the original unless you added a requirement for a new chip.

Honestly, a pawn shop nearby recently was selling a PAL adapter with the Japanese version of Final Fantasy VI. I didn't have any money at the time for it ... but if it's still there (yeah right) I'll probably pick it up soon.

The adapter was an ntsc like cart that could go into a US SNES, but with a PAL insert at the top (hence the Japanese FFVI).

Everyone else: Yeah, trust me on having backups. I look at my SNES collection as something 'special' somewhat, and wouldn't risk ruining a game if I only had one copy.

But, would a LttP cart work for making the SD3 english cart? Or would I need Illusion of Gaia? I'm not sure what games out there are hirom.

Anyways, sorry for taking this topic off topic a bit.

True, a great way to improve yourself is to show some selected screens, that in your honest opinion, you like. The fact you like them doesn't necessary means that the public will share the same opinion.

And to stay focused on the subject, Omega, I have a question for you. Since I'll be testing thoroughly your game for bugs and such, would you mind having a look at mine too? There's also the fact that you might not want to be spoiled and I understand that. But, under the circumstances, it would be a necessity since you're currently the only one that stays close to my overworld quality. That would probably be this summer through, since as of now I'm currently re-doing my overworld entirely (I'm pretty sure, this time will be the last time). Thanks!

I hope you're beeing sarcastic there. In fact, let me show you something:

You don't get good in two days.. Well nonetheless my overworld is starting to drive me crazy, so the tenth(?) version will be my last re-work. For the time beeing, I have two more big square areas to finish and the LW be done completely. Now the DW will take another two weeks afterwards. I'm sure you've seen it already, once you get better with HM, you can do things in less time then beginners.. SoM is a good exemple...

*Ahem* SoM hasnt been announced. Oh well... if you get around to editing your post in time we can keep it that way, if not then its all good.

Btw, when you said redoing, i took it as a complete redo isntead of a rework. Lookin great though.

An update on DP. Last dungeon has been completed. Its in the testing phase as we speak.

Edited And btw, most areas are re-done completely from scratch. Some like that one above have just been revamped. Remember the last built I sent ya months ago? Well when I'll send you this one you might be surprised by the amount of changes.

And the last dungeon completed ?

Have you still figured out yet the way you were going to have both roms join together? If say, the dungeon porter doesn't work?

I suggest the other way around, copy/paste the overworlds and change the tilesets edits altogether. In some time you could have everything done pretty well.

Youll have to send me an updated version sometime. I also want your opinion on the new gfx, so well talk sometime. As for copying the overworlds over, that was the origional plan, but with some of the wierd corruption that has happened as a result of all the changes made to the dungeon rom, it would be a little complicated. There is still a lot to do, so we dont have to combine them together immediatly. I am really hoping to use the dungeon porter, and it looks like its going to work given some time.

I have tested the porter myself and can safely say it works just fine. It just needs some more support in things like sprites.

Oh and Seph, I could really use some tech help on something if your interested.
thanks

This one screen violates so many laws of perspective.
It's impossible from any angle to see both the fronts of the torches AND the back of that wall.

You should blame nintendo. Notice that the large green block patterns also seem to violate perspective. Most objects in the game are at a slant towards the north wall, whereas the dungeon walls are designed to give a sense of vanishing point. Doest it makes sense? no. But I think if they designed the south walls they way they should, it would look even weirder. Sort of like Ultima but not as bad.
