Hey! I made a cool game! It's called "I poisoned half the food, so if you eat you might die!" Have a taco.

Yeah, there were quite a few places where the camera was positioned far lower than it should've been. Not good.

It was pretty fun, I guess, but something about it was just... I dunno... Lacking. It seemed like it could've been a lot better than it was, I guess. Perhaps this is just because I haven't found the secret level...

The graphics frequently screwed up in Galaxy Zoo West. Sometimes Yoshi's head even disappears.

In Subconian Spy, when a koopa falls in to the lava, it gives off glitched graphics.

Edit: Found the secret level. It was interesting, I guess, but not too good.

So overall, it wasn't so bad, I suppose, but it was far from great.

Played the hack from start to finish...

OK, on to the review!

=GFX
Overall, I liked the graphics of the hack. The first half of the game has some really good graphics I could say. The graphical quality drops a bit in the two next-to-last stages however... it is even hard sometimes to know if something is a part of the background or foreground since everything is made of only shade of grey.

There's many sprite edits in the hack but they're mostly rips in the first half of the hack... but near the end, you run into the custom ones and believe me, they do look good!

The main character's sprite is (almost) perfect, end of story. My only gripe is that he looks weird when running or holding items but that's my opinion...

As for the glitches... only two glitches in all of the hack... and it was on the castle stage and the final boss. However... there is an exeption. The next-to-last stage (the one with Yoshi) has several glitches. First, Yoshi's head disappear when you run into the Ball'n'chain enemies. Also, if you do not take the time to eliminate all the enemies, some of them will turn invisible!

=GAMEPLAY
I liked the overall design of the levels. They're challenging without being too overwhelming. There is also a good deal of variety and the constant change of theme helps make the hack exciting.

The fact that there's no power-ups means that to clear the game, you must be more careful than in most other hacks... but that's not really a bad thing.

My gripes with the levels is that they're too short in the beginning and that they also lack midway points.

=STORY
An overlooked part in most hacks... but this hack's story is actually good! The only problem I have with the story is that the hero doesn't ever get a name of his own.

I won't spoil the in-game story... but I'll say some comments about the ending.

The ending was quite decent... but the part after the "thank you" screen is severely glitched... not that I care. I'm a bit disappointed about the art for the "The end" screen however. I espected something of the quality of the title screen... and we get a stupid pink pixelated shadow. Well... at least, the credits are amusing.

=OVERALL
+ Sprite edits (both main character & enemies)
+ Level GFX for first half of hack
+ Lots of variety
+ Action-packed
+ Surprisingly good story

- Level GFX for second half of hack
- Glitches in second-to-last level
- Short (8 levels, including the final boss stage and the secret level)

Trashykins, If you do another, I would recommend that you make the game longer. Good game, BTW.

I was expecting more from this hack. Although the graphics look pretty good, the levels are way too short and boring, plus the hack overall is too short. It would be better if the levels were longer, and there were more levels. There are also some glitches, such as the sprite the final boss throws, and the graphics of the lava splashes. Overall I wasn't particularly impressed or wowed. The graphics and character change seem promising to use to make a really great hack, but I really didn't see it in this one, sorry.

I like the title screen, but I don't like the hopping noises. I think you could have done better with the Mario ending sequences (kinda weird seeing mario walk into a wall (I can suggest ways to get around those problems if you want)). However, I did like how the story went. I liked how you dragged me along the story feeling like a test subject.

As for making a big version if Ninji? I don't think there is a reason to. I think you could get by by having two hitpoints by making the graphic of small-Ninji as big mario's feet and make it so the head wasn't displayed. The only problem is that you'd need to put something there or make your levels so you had enough space to never crouch, because you wouldn't see where the top of your head was. You could have some sort of halo or something, but that'd (I think) would look weird during crouching. Also maybe change how he looks slightly while he has two hitpoints (in otherwords, big mario). You can maybe add a shield around him or maybe he has a different tint or something. Maybe he wears a hat (LOL).

Though the hack does have it's other problem, however I mainly would like to see a new overworld. That is one thing that disappointed me after all the hype this hack receaved. Anyways, I see potential in this and I look forward to another release.

P.S. There really isn't a point in locking it. If I really wanted to I could use parasyte's program to view it.

The ZIP file has been updated with fixes for many of the problems listed, and some new overworld graphics.

And I apologise for the The End screen, but I can't really properly edit it due to the way the palletes and graphics are set up.
