| They're already underway and there isn't even a thread about it yet? For shame! That said, things seem to be gearing up for a Heat–Pistons showdown in the Eastern Conference Finals; if the Heat are anything like the Lakers were last year, though, then Shaq's gonna need to stock up on those icy-hot sleeves*. As for the West, I think the Suns are a fairly safe bet, though the Nuggets should put on a good show; should be fun to watch, at least. I'm guessing the Finals will have the Suns against either the Heat or Pistons; the Pistons, as they very competently demonstrated last year, are more team-oriented, whereas it seems the Suns are somewhat dependent on Steve Nash (at least, so it went in Game 1 against the Grizzlies; the Grizzlies were catching up when Nash was on the bench, and suddenly fell behind when he was not)... a Suns–Pistons Finals series could prove interesting in that regard. I'm not as familiar with the Heat, though if the Lakers were any indication, the show is pretty much lead by O'Neal, so a Suns–Heat matchup may wind up a clash of personalities. But even then, O'Neal is a power player whereas Nash works best in assisting the other players. My cherished Trailblazers are, once again, just too damn good for the Playoffs (boo), and this time around, so are the Lakers (yay), so it's pretty much an open field for me this time around vis- |

| Let's see... Rockets up 2-0 vs Mavericks. Sonics look like they'll go up 2-0 vs Kings. Pacers/Celtics are at 1-1. Heat up 2-0 vs Nets (poor Vinsanity) Pistons up 2-0 vs 76'ers. Heat, Pistons, Pacers and Bulls will advance Rocktets, Nuggets, Sonics, and Suns will advance Bulls lose to Pistons, Pacers lose to Heat. Rockets lose to Suns, Sonics lose to Nuggets. Pistons beat Heat. Suns beat Nuggets. Pistons win second straight NBA title. That's my board! |

| I can see Pistons vs. Suns... But I'll just go with Shaq's team.  So I'll pick Heat over Suns. Though we can likely guess where the MVP trophy is going to... Or do we? Shaq and Nash both have good shots. |

| I want the Rockets to win it all. Will it happen? Probably not. But they have a good chance, it all depends on how well they fair against the mavs. if they beat them 4-0, then yeah, I pick them against the dependable Sun and the over hyped Spurs. As for the east, either Pistons or Heat. And the Nuggest won't advance, they got their asses handed to them by the Spurs in the second game. If they do advance then the my team (Rockets) has an even better chance of reacing the final due to the fact that the only team that poses a threat is the Spurs and nobody else. The Sacramento Queens aren't going to show up on time to beat the Sonics. The Rockets have handled the Sonics easily before the playoffs. The Nuggest are canon fodder for them as well. But the Suns and Spurs are a tough bet. Spurs win it all, I think. |

Yea, I was surprised Dallas won, considering the 4th quarter is when Houston pulled away in the first 2 games... and now they couldn't do the same at home... weird. |

| Wow, my board is trashed... Still got the Eastern Conf finals right though... :p Tonight ends the great career of one Reggie Miller, of the Indiana Pacers, who were knocked out by the Pistons. Although I'm not a Pacers fan, or a basketball fan, I do appreciate his drive and love for the game. Thank you Reggie, yours is one that we'll likely never see again. And there goes another great that never got a ring... |

| I wanna see the Heat win the NBA title this year (and there's a decent chance they will, especially if they advance over the Pistons in the ECF). 2 Florida state teams over the last 2 years. Lightning in 2003-2004 Heat in 2004-2005 It would be GREAT for the state of Florida, which rarely ever has a Championship reign. Before the Bolts was the Marlins, who pulled off a stunning WS win over the Yankees, which had a lot going for them there... but before then? Thus, I think Motown has enough winners (the Red Wings and their damn spending ways did it, much like the Yankees, hint hint...) to truly 'deserve' another champion more than any other team, save for maybe... Boston? Thus, I truly, honestly think that, even if the Heat don't knock off the defending NBA champs in the Eastern Conference Finals, that the Spurs will in the NBA finals (they'll beat the Suns, that's for DAMN SURE! How can you just get by the Mavs in the last 2 games of the series to pull off a 4-2 series win... and expect to beat the Spurs down 2-0 in as many as 6 or 7 games?) My NBA finals prediction: Spurs and Heat Heat win it in 7 games to become the new NBA Champs, and Shaq wins his 4th. |

| These Playoffs seem rather about cold hard reality instead of dreams. With the 2004 MLB playoffs, the Red Sox were pushed to the brink, then came back with a terrible vengeance to be only the third team in the MLB, NBA or NHL to dig themselves out of a 0-3 hole in a best-of-7 series, then never trailed in scoring during the WS, kicking the holy hell out of the "Curse of the Bambino". Such greatness is representative of dreams. These NBA Playoffs are not. After game 1 of the Western Conference First Round series between the Spurs and Nuggets, the Nuggets, the underdog #7 seed, come out of nowhere to steal a road win against the #2 Spurs, who are nearly unassailable at home, and assume a 1-0 lead. Hmm....might turn into a more interesting series than it looked at first, and who knows? Maybe the Nuggets can prevail! *bonk* Spurs win game 2. *bonk* Spurs win game 3. *bonk* Spurs win game 4. *bonk* Spurs win game 5, win 4-1, proceed to the conference semifinals. So much for that! After game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals series between the Heat and Wizards (the Heat assuming a 3-0 lead), there was much optimism from the Wizards camp, saying they just had to win 4 in a row like they did against the Bulls in the first round. Yeah! We can do it! Heat win game 4, win 4-0, proceed to the Eastern Conference Finals. So much for that! There was even more optimism after game 4 of the Western Conference Finals... the Spurs had assumed a 3-0 lead, then the Suns averted a sweep with a game 4 win. There was much optimism; one of the headlines at nba.com read "1 down, 3 to go"... could they become the first team in the NBA to dig themselves out of a 0-3 hole to win a best-of-7 series? If there's any team that could accomplish that, one would think it would be the #1-ranked team in the regular season who at least had home court advantage in the series, and who recently got back one of its key players (Joe Johnson). Spurs win game 5, win 4-1, proceed to the NBA Finals. So much for that! And Game 6 of the Sonics-Spurs series.... Spurs leading 3-2, Sonics at home, trailing 98-96, they've got the ball, inbound, 3-point shot at the buzzer for the win! *plonk* off the rim. Spurs win game 6, win 4-2, proceed to the Western Conference Finals. So much for that! As this is written, the Spurs are on for the Finals, and the Heat have assumed a 3-2 lead over the Pistons... this after my original prediction that the Pistons would take the Heat 4-1, maybe 4-2. However, with Dwayne Wade minus an intact rib, I still think the Pistons will prevail. Game 6 is tomorrow at Detroit, which I'm sure they'll win, and with one of the Heat's key players watching from the sidelines, it boils down more towards Shaq, who, as the 2004 Finals demonstrated, is no guarantee of success against a certain NBA team from Detroit, Michigan. Which leaves us with, assuming my prediction is correct, the Spurs and Pistons left to duke it out for the championship; the Spurs will have home-court advantage, though unless the series is close, it's a de-facto advantage for the Pistons, since the Pistons' three home games are all played in a row (A-A-B-B-B-A-A), so for the first five games, the Pistons are the ones with home-court advantage. And the Pistons are certainly more competent at defense than the Suns were... I think they could hold out against the Spurs. 4-2 or 4-3 Pistons, maybe 4-1 if I'm misunderestimating them. Should be an interesting series nonetheless. I'm rooting for the Pistons all the way, though if the Heat manage to prevail (in which case I don't think they'd manage to take the Spurs even if Wade's warranty hadn't expired) I'll find myself rooting for them over the Spurs. Although I don't like the Spurs, I still have found myself with grudging respect for them. Just wish Duncan would shave, though.  |

| Make that 3-2 Spurs. After four blowouts in a row, Game 5 winds up down to the wire all the way, including a session of Overtime and a game— and the outlook of the series as a whole— decided on one point. Gotta hand it to Horry (of the Spurs), though, who was taking names and kicking ass in Overtime, with a classic dunk and a 3-point shot to take the lead. The Spurs earned that one, to be sure. The final play was by Rip Hamilton (of the Pistons) who got gang-banged into making a layup that scarcely reached the backboard, let alone the basket. One play to decide the course of the rest of the series. Spurs take a 3-2 lead back to San Antonio, where they are nearly unassailable, and the Pistons will have to win both games there in order to attain the championship. If the Spurs win even one time, it's all over. I forgot that Game 5 was on until just as Overtime was starting... wish I'd have watched it all. But Overtime was still worth watching. I'm predicting that the Spurs will win the series, probably 4-2 (i.e. will win in Game 6 on Tuesday). However, in Games 3 and 4 (both of which were in Detroit), the Pistons were the ones who were nearly unassailable. So, if the Spurs can win in Detroit, the Pistons can win in San Antonio. Once. |

Pistons up 39-38 at Halftime in Game 7. They've got more people in The Palace of Auburn Hills (where the Pistons play) watching the game on screens, than they do at the SBC Center (where the Spurs play) where the actual game is taking place.  (The reason is that the Palace has a greater seating capacity.)Both teams deserve to be where they are right now. I'm rooting for the Pistons, but I have a lot of respect for the Spurs. May the best team win! |

Yeah..I didn't even get to see any of the games..so sad. I wanted to see the best of the east against the dominator of the west but..I forgot  ..about it. I thought that maybe the Pistons would be swept but nah all the way until Game 7 which was suprising. |
