Ok, so I goto this page:

http://php4you.irth.net/KT15X/kt.php

Downloaded some exgfx packs, unzipped the files into the exgraphics direcotory inside Lunar Magic's working directory. I goto file, Import exgfx, and it tells me there are no GFX in there, yet they are!

What could I be doing wrong?

FIRST, make sure you find where your hack is located. Then put the ExGFX in the folder named ExGFX in that directory. THEN insert the ExGFX.

Forgot to mention, rename the graphics to ExGFX80 and up.

cpubasic13: The folder is supposed to be named ExGraphics.

Also, if they don't look right be sure to import the TPL.

I over looked the tutorial above.

Ok I got that done, I installed the SMB3 pack to the directory, renamed the files like such:

exgfx80.bin
exgfx81.bin
exgfx82.bin

Now the files load up when I click on the yellow mushroom.

next it says to click on Super GFX Bypass in order to use the gfx in your level.

Well I do that, open up my 16x16 editor, and there is NOTHING new in there.

Now what?

Sorry, wish I was not new, but I am. :/

First you have to set what gfx you want in this menu. Let's say you want to use a new SMB3 foreground you downloaded, and you named the gfx file ExGFX80.bin, you go into the Super Bypass, and change the FG value to 80. The ExGFX package should've come with something called Map16.bin, extract these files to the same directory as LM, now open the 16x16 editor, find an empty page and hit F3, then F9. Hope that helped.

Ok that got me a lot further, but...

I extracted Map16Page.bin and Map16PageG.bin to the root of the LM directory.
I extracted the smb3_grass.bin to the ExGraphics directory which is inside of my LM directory.

I go through the mothions as you started above, and clicked on YES when it asked the Y or N questions, and now I have new GFX, but they look NOTHING like the picture featured on the page, rather it is a bunch of garbage. Also now all of my pipes and many of my blocks have been changed to garbage gfx, and yes I did indeed select an unused slot in the gfx menu.

Yes, you'll have to rework the 8x8 a bit to look like what it's supposed to. The reason the rest turned to garbage is because when you loaded GFX for 80 or whatever it is you loaded, the game as it stood did not have entries in that area and simply entered garbage in it's place... As is my understanding. So yes, it sucks, but you'll have to rework it a bit in the 8x8 editor, but once you do so it'll look right. As for the exact steps you need, I don't know it, sorry =/

There is nothing new in the 8x8 section. Only the 16x16 section. Infact the new GFX in the 16x16 section even resemble (except for in color) the Garbage gfx that are now in my map.

I think I need this explained in DETAIL from the very beginning because I have absolutly no idea what the heck I am doing.

Ok. Go to the 8x8. If you see the ExGFX right then and there, you put it in the wrong place (put in the FG3). Press the down arrow in the 8x8. The bottom half should be the ExGFX you inserted. Then, go to the 16x16 editor. Go down to page 3. Then insert the page. Should work.

Nothing.

Ok let's back up a bit.

When I am in the Super GFX Bypass screen, I need to put a check mark in the top box then, which do I select?

FG1
FG2
or
FG3?

After that do I need to change anything else in this window?

After the Window is closed I go straight to the 16x16 editor, hit F3, then hit OK, then F9 hit OK, and then I should be ready for the tile editing? If this is so something is wrong.

FG3 = ExGFX80 (or your number.)

Should work then.

PROGRESS!!!

Ok, now I have the new GFX in the 16x16 editor as well as my ADD OBJECTS selection menu, and everything looks like it should...

...except of course the old GFX, which are now garbage in some cases. Since I used FG2 instead of 1 this time, it is my slopes, and passable dirt that looks like crap, as opposed to the Pipes and blocks.

So now how (in detail) do I go about correcting that?

EDIT:

Oh, and if I use a Breakable brick Graphic...

...when mario hits it, it turns into one of those yellow bricks that has eyes and spins...

Just take the FG2 graphics and put it back to one of the original graphics. If you don't know what it is, click the Change Index of Graphics button and look at what number the FG2 is. Set it to that.

Ok, I went to the Change Index Of GFX button, saw that FG2 was set to17.

Then what, where do I go to "set it back" to an original?

I went to Super GFX Bypass, and it was already on 17 as well.

Wait a minute. FG17 (which you replaced with ExGFX) is the hills and cliffs. It only affects the level you have it set to, so you don't have to worry about the other levels.

?????????

When I installed my EXGFX pack, I told it to use FG3 80.

After I did this, all of my slopes and dirt have corrupted GFX. (I am working on the 1st stage so far).

So what is it I don't have to worry about? Everything is screwed up for this level now,

The slopes are supposed to do that. Want to know how to use the ExGFX?

Go to the Add Objects Window. Click the drop-down box so you see Map16. Click it. Now go to the page with the ExGFX and add in the blocks one by one.

I can tell you are a noob.

We're not talking DOOM Legacy here, so ya I'd say I'm as NOOB as you get.

Now to make you pull your hair out, as I have already done mine.

If I am getting you right, you want me to isert the ExGFX using the guide above, placing it in posistion 80 in FG3.
After which I will goto the 16x16 editor, hit F3 and F9 so that my new GFX appear, and my slopes are now trashed.
Then after this you want me to goto to the add objects menu till I can see my new GFX, which is what I've been doing.

What I want to know is why is it that it HAS to destroy your Slopes and Dirt or what ever? I take it Mario World does not want any new GFX installed unless old GFX are sacrificed?
Also why is it that the breakable bricks siply change into Turn blocks instead of breaking?

I REALLY wish there was some sort of step by step tutorial on this kit, I have no idea how you guys learned all this from scratch.
