SMB3 advantages:
1. It looks really cool!
2. i could fit more levels in one world. i'm planning to bring each world up to w1-6, but it needs to be SMB3 for this

SMB3 disadvantages:
1. i won't be able to show whether it's day or night in each world
2. the SMW ow looks more like the SMBDX ow

Personally i want to make the SMB3 ow for this game, but all your opinions count too.

Could you possibly post a picture of SMBDX overworld?

Then I will vote upon which OW to use. If the SMBDX one looks cool (and can be ripped), I would use that cause no one else has.


nvm, I looked up the shot. It sucks...lol. So use the SMB3 overworld

But currently I would use the SMB3 overworld, maby with a few changes such as E-World overworld graphics....

I'd suggest sticking to SMW's overworld. It seems to fit the style here a bit more. =\

Plus, day/night can't be shown on the SMW OWs here,

It's pretty nice, though. Maybe make a secret exit in another world to lead to these hidden worlds?

i'm definitely not gonna rip the SMBDX ow- it sucks!

i think the SMB3 overworld would fit better in the whole SMB series, ya know? and i could fit a HUGE lot of new levels into the game with the SMB3 ow!



well the result speaks for itself!

It looks like i'm going to use the SMB3 overworld.

this means:
1. more levels in each world, plus extra worlds,
2. no sky, BUT, if i darken the water in world 3, it might look like it's night time!
3. a nice new look, bright and colourful, possibly with some new OW gfx from SMA4.

note:the SMB3 OW in the pic was made in about 5 minutes - very sloppy. but it was only for a test, so i WILL spend more time at it when making the new one.

How about this? Rip the SMBDX overworld graphics, add more detail to them and piece together the overworld like in SMBDX.

that's a good idea, but i don't like the SMBDX overworld at all. if i wanted to have something to look like SMBDX, i'd use the SMW overworld (which i did in the first release).

I liked the SMW style. just add a bit more detail to the *ahem* cruddy original SMW graphics and the OW would be great.

1st of all, i can't draw GFX very well.

2nd of all, 20 votes beats 4 votes, so i'm going to remake the OW in SMB3 style.

This means more levels in each world,
no sky, but the water will be darkened in w3 to make it look like night,
and a really nice new look to the OW with some extra GFX ripped from WORLD-e in SMA4- thanks for the tip on that keikonium.

And lastly, a huge thanks goes out to the person who voted that i suck

Yes of course! I mentioned in the first post of this thread that i'm planning on bringing every world up to w1-6, maybe even higher i have no shortage of levels anyway, thanks to Googie.

You may want to put the extra levels in secret worlds, actually. Mixing them with the actual SMB, IMO, wouldn't work real well. =\

I have an idea - Release a version with SMB3 OW and a version with SMW OW. (Probably not, but eh... I just get used to SMW OW GFX :p)

I don't know why SMB 3 graphics means no night time, you'd simply have to use a different palette for the night worlds.

Sorry, peter_ac, but I'm one of those who thinks things like new levels should be secret

Anyway, I'd be happy to help out on the palettes here.

And thanks A happy one it was. I got SMAS, a SNES controller and fixed my Mega Mole problem!
