I agree. Most people here are intelligent except for the newbies. The only reason people call members here retarded is because they disagree with them.

umm... no, no i'm pretty sure it's because people like you are just plain fucking retarded. i mean seriously, all kidding aside. you're an idiot.

No, I say that even the noobs are intelligent but are just socially incable.

Being very smart, and having high IQ dosen't mean that you spell right and such on the internet. In fact it's thoose people who have the biggest problem to act correctly on forums.

And hell, look at me in the early 2003. I acted like a retard, but I got better. Nowdays I may stills screw around the English language, but I try to progress.

very very true. for some people it takes a while to build up "internet maturity", entirely separate from real world matury. some start a little better off than other's. it's just the way the internet goes 'round.

Over here in Germany there is some kind of a frequently-used metaphor, which might be translated as, "The rats are leaving the sinking ship." (Note that "rats" is not meant as an insult in that sentence.)
During the past two or three months, I have seen many board veterans leave silently or being forced out by staff. Sure, people like Legion or knuck were violating the rules a lot, and they sometimes were a real pain in the ass. But nevertheless, they were a part of the community. With permabanning them, you (staff) left behind a gap that can't be filled in again that easily, and probably won't anymore. It looks like staff nowadays will rather permaban a community veteran for starting a little flamewar (the 'a' and 'o' of civilized online warfare) against another user than giving a two or three days ban to asshat newbies like DAVALLR or Nad-Gob who haven't yet posted a single post that had a point (while already having posted 5 or even 10 threads, mostly about stuff that should have belonged into a PM) at it and flamed/spammed/... the hell outta others (as seen on the DAVALLR PMs that ocassionally were revealed occasionally on 4/1). (Reason: "We need to help the pooooor newbies")
The community of Acmlm's board is going down at otherwordly speed, and noone seems to bother.
Valcion is the first staff member to set a sign that things aren't going right the way they are, and for that, he deserves the respect of all of us. Now it's up to the remaining staff members to bring the shininess of elder days back to Acmlm's, or to continue using it as a platform for outliving personal "like/dislike" schemata on the users, thus scaring the rest of the "suitable" members away. It's your choice.

I have a few things to comment on this as well (and have even opened a window so I don't have to constantly scroll back and forth, which I only do when I'm really going to go all-out on something like this)

During the past two or three months, I have seen many board veterans leave silently or being forced out by staff. This is something I call favortism. Yiffy Kitten showed it as well. It basically says "The longer I'm here, the more effort it will take to remove me." This is a load of bullshit in all aspects. Just because they're old and part of the community means they're immune to rules? That would mean that someone (example: Emuz) could go off, spam like hell, flame the shit out of everyone and mabye walk off with the equivant of a slap on the wrist, at absoloute maximum demotion (note: I'm not saying he would, I'm just using him as an example.)

Legion was being an ass to everyone. If you forgot, he was permabanned on the original board -- then unperma'd, then reperma'd a while after (and was, until the board vanished....) An admin allowed him back in under the pretense that he had changed for the better, which was true until recently, when he started doing the same shit. Not permabanning him would've shown that the staff had insane amounts of favoritism towards people (moreso than now)...

When you continue pissing off a lot of people all the time it goes from a 'little flamewar' to 'a lot of larger flamewars'. Your point on idiot newbies does, however, count (since I also think that we are being too loose on newbies -- massive PM spamming/flaming should be a 24h ban, at least a full out warning (which, to my knowledge, neither happened -- feel free to correct this)

The community of Acmlm's board is going down at otherwordly speed, and noone seems to bother.
Valcion is the first staff member to set a sign that things aren't going right the way they are, and for that, he deserves the respect of all of us. We all know it's 'declining' -- and just for leaving Valcion does not deserve the respect of us. For what? Leaving? Con-grad-u-fucking-lations* to him for packing his shit and leaving. Whoopdiefuckingdoo.

To further counter the points, how would YOU go about fixing the problems? Obviously you seem to have a better idea, so why not share it?

And there is little like/dislike from what I've seen (but it's dependant on some things, honestly -- but what isn't? there's always some in everything, but I don't see it as a major problem) ... people who outwardly deserve bans usually get them, people who don't usually don't and any mistake is usually corrected shortly after.

In short: Just because you're a vetran member doesn't mean that you're 100% correct about everything and that you should be immune to all of the rules.

Know what I noticed? Every online community is always 'going down the drain'. It means nothing. I've seen what a dying forum looks like, this is not it.

What's really saddening about this is that when we ban fucktards for being fucktards, people who don't like fucktards get all the crap and have to leave. (Fucktards that know how to use proxies are still fucktards, by the way.)
