It's a shame that slaughter wasn't on national TV (ala Fox), for it would've been THAT much more enjoyable. But oh well, I guess I have to settle for that ALCS choke from last year instead.

Well, the Yanks are discombobulated...kinda..

Anyway, props to Greg Maddux. He is now the 9th player to record 300 wins, and 3000 strikeouts.

Re: Matt Clement:

OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW.

He IS cleared to fly with the team, so that's a good sign. I think it means no concussion for him. He also stayed conscious, responsive, and didn't lose feeling the whole time. Tests came back negative, so he SHOULD be okay. But how rattled will he be?

(For those who don't know, he got NAILED in the side of the head last night by a Carl Crawford line drive.)

The speed of the ball is about how fast Mark Prior took it off the elbow a month or so ago when he went back on the DL. Ouch...

Don't get rattled Matt, just keep attacking the strike zone like you normally would.

Ouch!!

Mike Cameron and Carlos Beltran collided trying to chase a fly ball in San Diego last night. Cameron had to be taken off the field on a stretcher, while Beltran left under his own power.

MLB.com has the video of the play... DAMN. Absolutely sick since they clashed heads and Beltran ended up getting the pin on Cameron.

Cameron's gone for the season most likely, but WOW. You just don't see that every day.

Beltran is out indefinately, although he's been a bust for the Mets this year anyway. I saw the replay on Espnews today.....OUCH! Pretty much as bad as Damon's collison a couple years ago, when he was taken off by ambulance.

And to add to that, the Mets put Cameron on the DL.

Considering the fact he needed surgery and messed up his face pretty bad... YEAH. You can't just put him on the 15-day or anything like that. :\

Course, I'm a bastard for watching a few replays of it anyways.

Cameron's surgery was a success, and his family flew to San Diego to see him. Beltran has left the hospital and has rejoined the team in Los Angeles.

We now put to rest a team once known as the Kansas City Royals. They have displayed a feat in futility that not even the '62 Mets haven't done. (Did I get the right year?) Although, granted, they haven't set any records yet, but it's getting closer and closer.

Currently, the Royals have an 18 game losing streak, breaking the previous franchise record of 15 games, and getting closer and closer to the ominous 1988 Orioles with their 21 game losing streak.

WIth their season (in terms of accomplishments) long over, this is something they probably don't want lingering over their shoulders. Although the 2004 Tigers were able to rebound from the 119 loss season of 2003. I'm not sure this is something that any team can recover from immediately.

Well, why watch them? Regarding chronically inept teams, at least the Reds have Adam Dunn, while the Devil Rays have an assload of positional prospects, especially in the outfield. Royals? Nothin'.

The way the White Sox have been playing all year, you'd think they would be the first team to clinch their division. *bzzt* WRONG! The White Sox have been slumping, and are only 4.5 up on the Indians, the closest competitor. The first team to clinch a playoff berth this year *drumroll* is the St. Louis Cardinals. Yeah, the same Cardinals that clinched first last year. Yeah, the same Cardinals that were swept out of the World Series last year.

With about 18 to play, the races are really heating up... At the time of this post, this is how everything stands so far.

AL West: Angels and A's tied for lead, 3rd place in AL Wild Card
AL Central: White Sox leading Indians by 4 and a half games
AL East: Red Sox lead Yankees by 1 and a half games
AL Wild Card: Indians leading Yankees by a half a game, Angels and A's by 3 games, and the Twins by 8 and a half games

NL West: Padres, at 72-73, one game below .500, lead the division by 5 and a half games.
NL Central: Cardinals have clinched, current record is 94-54
NL East: Braves leading over Marlins by 6 games
NL Wild Card: Astros lead Marlins and Phillies by half a game, Nationals are 2 and a half games back, Brewers are 5 games back, Cubs are 6 and a half games back, Mets half fallen off

So yeah, that's where they currently stand. The NL Wild Card looks to be the most contested for, and it should be nice viewing for the final couple of weeks.

We've got a marathon going on here!

EDIT: And the Astros pulled it out 7-6 in 18 innings, putting an end to the longest playoff game in MLB history.

The White Sox decimated everybody this postseason. "It's ova! It's ova!"
Sweep the Red Sox out of the ALDS.
Lost the first game to the Angels in the ALCS, then win the next four.
Sweep the Astros out of the World Series.

Last year, it was the Red Sox. This year it was the White Sox. Could next year be the Cubs year?

Leonphis: No.

Helicopters 2, White Sox 1, Houston 0. Day-um. This was totally the 2002 Angels redux. The starters were pitching out of their minds (all them CG's in the ALCS) and the bullpen was, as Curt Schilling has been known to call Petey, f'n nails. Have fun on the basepaths, because you're NOT going to even sniff home. Amazing. Is baseball fun again?

One of my teams actually one the world series. Houston Astros, Angels, and the Boston Red Sox just suck so much they gave it to the White Soxs. There is a team that never gives up. I bet you don't even like baseball drjayphd. Ohh yah thanks for deleting my thread drjayphd, what you said before deleting it, what not that big of a deal of deleting my thread. Maybe I should not make another thread any more because someone will get rid of it sooner or later.
