IGN article And yes, I knew about that the voice control in Puppy times. It would be stupid of Nintendo to not include it. Besides I did see in a preview demo where someone did tell some dogs to roll over in Japanse. Revolution being backwards combitable is just good, complete newcomers don't have a empty game libary to start with and it would extend the Gamecube's lifetime by some... besides I wouldn't have yet another console in front of my TV. I probably will just buy one console when I live alone after all. Then, the backwards support is not comming as surprise, the Revolution (or whatever it will be named later on) will probably have graphics card from ATI and a PowerPC processor... like Gamecube. And the controller probalby will be somewhat similar, otherwise they would destroy the backwards compatibility. Edit: BTW, you would need some receiver for the WI-FI thing to connect to the internet. It won't connect magically to the internet otherwise. I do wonder if their solution is connecting to a PC, or to a hub with some adapter. Either way would work for me, as I have a nice little network at home. (edited by Kitten Yiffer on 03-10-05 05:13 PM) |

I recall hearing that the DS would use an attachment to amplify it's Wi-Fi signals to connect to the nearest connection area and from there to the internet. It was awhile ago, though, so knowing my short-term memory I probably got the everything about it wrong

I know that it won't "connect magically" but I am assuming we all have wireless internet. If not I am sure nintendo will make their own first party routers. If you don't think this is revolutionary than you suck. Why don't you go play your xbox and pay 50$ a year while I will play my ds and revolution for free with wifi. Jeez...it is so hard to excite the people here at acmlm

Ok! Once again Nintendo does it! One more reason to go and buy a DS now. It was released today here. |

Originally posted by Bastard Oni LinkWell, i'm don't find it that revolutionary, considering the teqnique have been around for quite awhile. You can say it's the same with the touch screen... However it's impressing that Nintendo is picking it up and use it for a game console, the past times thoose two teqniques have been used was in PDA's and other mobile stuff that isn't made for gaming, even if you probably could play a few games on them. Althought, N64 was the first system to promise a online service through 64DD... it only got released in Japan and the the 64DD wasn't that succeful. :/ |

GC compatibility AND wireless capabilities. That does it. I am SO glad I got that router a month ago. |

...backwards support, WIFI out of the box (which would allow the DS to go online), ANIMAL CROSSING ALL OVER THE WORLD!? Nintendo really is surprising me right now. I just want to play Animal Crossing globally. I can't wait for that. Oh, and the Revolution sounds very awesome! I want to get that as soon as it comes out. I will be really happy... ...anyone got a release date for that? I want it to be like when I got the DS: save my money and buy it on day 1. |

One funny thing I saw when examining the notes... Both Microsoft and Nintendo are using IBM chips. Both Microsoft and Nintendo are using ATI graphic cards. Obviously there's no such thing as "exclusivity" in the gaming world today. |

Nope, the only exclusivity is in gaming, and even that is being spread too thin. On Topic: HOLY CRAP, this is awesome. 2005 has to be the smartest year for Nintendo ever. |

Originally posted by ColleenWell, X-box is surely going to use a stripped down version of NT4 again and Direct-X (and this is not a bad thing to use a old OS modified, it's even a quite smart thing... as long they add newer functionalities) And well, it maybe makes devolopment for both consoles easier, and porting between them... I heard that apparently PS2 was the hardest to devolop for, but i'm not sure about PS3. |

Well, you should get SM64 first. Personally I found the minigames to be worth it but bleh... And i'm leaning towards Project Rub in your case, althought I have been considering to get both. Mariom kart? Sounds intresting Trapster... new charachter? |

You guys are all wrong about gaming in general. Wifi is great, it allows for easy LAN and online play. But there won't be considerable difference in how games on the Revolution and Microsoft's system play. It's all in the games, people. |

There is a difference on the Revolution and Microsoft's system, but it might not be as apparent on the consumer side of things. Nintendo has already begun work on sending out dev-kits to developers, and with their new focus on ease of use for the creators, 3rd party companies might feel as if Nintendo is the better choice. Also, XBox live will cost the end user a fee. As for Nintendo? Completely free-- nothing to worry about, no hassle about setting up accounts, paying fees, etc. The gamer can rest easy and just enjoy the game. This looks good from a developer's side as well. Nintendo is headed down the right path. Even Reggie Fils-Aime admits in recent interviews that there was some set back, and some decision making that might not have been best for Nintendo. But, through their experiences, they have learned. If anyone of you can read the transcript of Satoru Iwata's speech and tell me Nintendo doesn't understand it's end users and their desires, then maybe you are not truly a gamer yourself. Read up on Reggie's words too. He's a very intelligable man, and the proud face of NOA. Backwards compatability pretty much confirms that the traditional D-Pad will still be present on the new system's controller. Long live Gunpei Yokoi's ingeniousness! |

Gah, they better make the D-Pad bigger then, in it's current size it's... not that good. It needs to be bigger. Honestly, I just use the D-pad for taunts in SSBM... the only game I use it otherwise is Animal crossing. Where I even prefer using the control stick. |

Well, I'm pretty sure those kinds of things will not be revealed until E3. I have a feeling there might be a mic. on the Revolution controller. |
