Ah, so basically considering WHO you played... not bad I guess. Getting Rushfeldt would be a hell of a coup and I'm guessing you have just enough in the bank to afford him - I would hope you make it into the UEFA Cup Group Stage come October.

Oh, and you might have only let in one goal so far, but you've only scored two.

Newspaper here is gearing up for the Impact's season with tons of interviews - today was with Greg Sutton, our Canadian international goalie who was linked to Bolton during the offseason. Decided to stay with Montreal (at a higher salary of course) but I learned that Bolton played in the "English League First Division". Oh dear.

Toxic: *shrug* Yahoo has a lot of soccer news. There's also the BBC and several other sites to find results/standings.

Bolton in the English league first division?

Hm, being number 6 at the A-level in England or playing at C-level... Well, it's pretty much the same, no?

Oh, and you might have only let in one goal so far, but you've only scored two.
our attack, which has been the only thing not working so far this season

Well, maybe the editor thought that the top league was still called the First Division.

Naming schemes can be confusing - League Two was the old Division Three which was the old Fourth Division.

...So Gamst is playing for a C-level team now?

They should. CONCACAF (North + Central America) qualifying is in the final round now. 6 teams are in one group and play each other twice - that's a total of 10 rounds. They've done 3.

Mexico - 7pts
USA - 6pts
Guatemala, Costa Rica - 4pts
Panama - 2pts
Trinidad & Tobago - 1pt

Top 3 teams advance to the WC, 4th place enters a playoff with an Asian team for a spot.

Canada got eliminated in the semi-final round...

I got a magazine at a Barnes and Noble in Maryland, Four Four Two, and it was pretty good. The only problem was that it didn't have a lot of facts and results, a la Sports Illustrated, it was more of a Slam type magazine.

Still, I might think about getting a subscription to it. Seems cool.

Edit: I just watched the Chelsea/Liverpool game. god DAMN IT. I've found my allegiance by the way, I'm a Chelsea fan now. When Gudjohnsen missed the shot in stoppage time I almost had a heart attack.

Gudjohnsen will be playing that one over and over in his head tonight, that's for sure.

By the way, anyone notice Gerrard hugging all the Chelsea-players and Murinho after the match. That sure won't go down well with a lot of Liverpool-fans, considering recent transfer speculations and such.

Chelsea would be -stacked- if they got Gerrard. All they do is buy him, right? And that rich Russian guy won't care, so what an addition that'll be.

So AC Milan won, and now it's Liverpool and AC Milan in the final. I dunno, I'd say AC Milan has the edge, but look who Liverpool beat to get here.

"Chelsea skipper John Terry will play no further part in the club's historic season.

The England defender is set to undergo surgery on his injured toe this week and the operation forces him out of Wednesday night's game against Manchester United at Old Trafford and the final match of the season at Newcastle United.

It will also prevent Terry, who captained Chelsea to their first league title in 50 years, from being involved in the club

Well, Chelsea doesn't really have any more important matches this season, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Premier League wrapping up now, and it looks like WBA is gonna survie, actually! Unless the Saints can score two, or Crystal Palace one, come on Saints!

Once the regular season ends, is there some type of cup, or is it just straight up Chelsea wins all?

Nope, Chelsea has won the Premier League. There is a Cup, the F.A. Cup, with its final match being played after the league ends. The F.A. Cup is independent of the Premier League, though, and this year's final will be played by Arsenal and Man Utd (though it is a great honor to win the F.A. Cup, the biggest honor is in winning the Premier League. Some teams achieve "doubles", meaning they win both the Cup and the League in one season, and in 1999, Man Utd became the first and only English team to win a treble (Cup, League and Champions League in one season).

And guess which game we got in Canada yesterday?

Fulham vs. Norwich. Geeeeeeez.

Some countries also have League Cups (involving only domestic league teams, not those in the semi-pro/amateur ranks) but those aren't held with as much prestige. Usually in England, for example, since the League Cup carries with it a UEFA Cup birth, the smaller Premier League teams will put more focus on it than the larger teams, who might only field a full-strength squad if they reach the final.

The League Cup trophy is often called a "Mickey Mouse Trophy", because people find the whole cup to be silly.

Some years ago, Liverpool claimed to have won a treble, just like Man Utd did in '99. Liverpool's treble, however, was the League Cup, the F.A. Cup, and the UEFA Cup. Hardly anything like winning the Premier League, the F.A. Cup and the UEFA Champions League, but, well, some fans still called it a treble.

Yeah, but for a team like Birmingham, Portsmouth or Fulham... it's a potential backdoor entry into the UEFA Cup. So it could be worthwhile if you go all the way.

Arsenal won the FA Cup on penalties! What a rush! Great game, too! Scholes missed, giving Arsenal the victory 5-4! NO TROPHIES FOR MAN UTD THIS YEAR! HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN! Life is great!

Yeesh, Man U played a better game, but just couldn't find the back of the net.

Arsenal really misses Henry in that one.

And how the mighty have falllen, lol. A year finishing 3rd in points, but no cups...numerous managers would take that season.

Well, you've got to see everything in perspective. Take Norway last yar. Rosenborg won the league, but didn't seal the deal until the very last round. And worse, they tied V

And RBK look like CRAP so far this season, which is always fun to see. Same thing happened last year though... (BTW, SomerZ, what the HELL is up with Start? )

Game was on here *and* for free too. They branded it an "upset" which I guess it would be given what happened during the 120 minutes and what happened after that. Lehmann was tremendous. Reyes is an idiot. Rooney is fab.

What the HELL is up with Start, you ask. Well, mind you, the same thing could be said about us last season at this time of year. I'm pretty sure Start will start to fall after a while, leaving the throne for V
