Try scrolling down a bit in YY-CHR (use the little red thing near the left edge of the window).

If that doesn't work, your problem is probably that you aren't extracting the graphics properly first To do so, open the ROM in Lunar Magic, click the red mushroom button on the toolbar to extract the graphics (note that if you want the graphics to extract as one file instead of a bunch, select the 'Use Joined GFX Files' option under the 'Options' menu. After that, open the file that Lunar Magic creates in YY-CHR, choose the proper viewing mode, and you should be good to go

Edit: once you're done making the changes you want to make and you've saved the file, click the green mushroom button in Lunar Magic to put your graphics back into the game.

Yep, it's because all of the Graphics are compressd. Converting it to a format that Tile Editors are trying to interpret requires solving equations and possibly rewriting part(s) of it using a certain pattern (technically, the Tile Editor is interpreting it correctly, because no matter what Values are stored in Memory, it's going to interpret it a certain way,... but it's not what you are looking for).
