Chill Penguin Thank you for the advice, I'll look into it later this evening.
Dan I have the SMB2J ROM that is listed like this...
Super Mario Bros 2 (J) [p1].nes
There were a few versions of this ROM that wouldn't even start at all, this is the best pirate version I found. But I will look for that mpr4 (hack) like you suggested. Thank you. |

Which Super Mario Bros 2j ROM are you using? You might want to try the ROM listed in GoodNES as SMB2J mpr4 (Hack). It doesn't have the title screen, but it might not crash at the end. (It's probably better to use this one too, as it uses a few more common memory mapper than some of the pirate ones) |

Actually, since it's a pirate, the title screen was probably blanked out. The graphics are there, so just add them back in using hex. The pallet should still be set correctly, so the only problem is, is figuring out how to put it back in using hex.
First, find out where the title screen data begins (should be similar to SMB1).
Use a hex editor to put the values in the title screen area of the rom.
I'd go into detail on how, but Vagla's Art of ROM hacking and other docs should point you in the right direction.
EDIT: As for the editor, I'd like to see one for the FDS version. You might want to look at that in a hex editor (FCEUXD's might have the title screen values in RAM view), could save a lot of time. |

Hello, I was using TLP to look in the ROM & I noticed that there are graphics for the title screen. Has anyone ever tired to activate it so it shows when you play the game?
Another question is, has anyone ever wanted to make an editor for this game even if it is a pirate ROM?
I also wanted to say that when I beat this game the game would crash, could that be fixed too?
Thank you for taking the time to read this thread. |
