*hugs you*

Even though I don't really play FF hacks (maybe if I ever get around to beating the original ), that's frickin awesome.

The floor tile stands out too much. Otherwise, it looks good.

Yeah, the floor does look... Well, not that good.

I thought people were walking IN walls, at first.

Anyways, I think this will be cool, but Race Against Time is also good.

I just hope both these will come out.

Sounds cool, i always enjoy another FF hack

two things i should point out:

1) you might want to try a tile that doesn't stand out as much for the floor... the more it stands out the more you notice the repetition and such. maybe that's just a personal thing of mine.

2) when i found the data for the dialoge menu open/close speeds and i made them open instantaneously i couldn't stand the way the sounds still followed for the exact lengths and in the exact same annoying noise . if there is one thing i've always hated about FF1, it's that menu sfx.

if you were planning on changing or removing it, you might want to take note that while i had previosly detailed the location of the sound routine, i did say what's going into that function. When i had originally removed the JSR to the sound effect, there were errors in the sound because i failed to remove everything:

3D61C - JSR to open - EA,EA,EA
3D69F - JSR to close - EA,EA,EA

the original jump to the function

3D612-3D61E: (13 bytes)
3D691-3D6A1: (17? bytes)

the parameters passed/loaded right before the function. these will need to be modified if you were to you change the sound routine.

A few years ago, when I found out about the ROM hacking scene, I was inspired by ZeldaC and Final Fantasy Challenge, and I liked the fact that Squaresoft was returning to the NES roots in Final Fantasy IX. So, I decided to make Final Fantasy IX an NES game. But, it never really got off the ground. I don't really know why it didn't get off the ground, but I was a newbie at the time, so maybe thats why.

This hack was inspired by Final Fantasy IX, hence it is called Final Fantasy IX (the NES version).

Obviously it won't be exactly the same as the PlayStation game, but I will try to make it as much as possible the same style. Right now, I am currently working on making the game start off with one character, a Thief (Zidane). I will also expand the name string for the characters so they can have their respective names.

I started out with Alexandria.

Welcome to Alexandria.

At the beginning of the game, there is a statue telling you something about Lindblum. In this game, there will be a well surrounded by trees. Symbolic of something else...........

This is the Inn. Go rest if you're tired.

Around the wall is the Item Shop. You'll need to stock up on stuff!

The river that flows through Alexandria. This is how the people get their water supply.

The Weapon Shop. The Knights of Pluto always need to be equipped with the best stuff.

There is no way in hell you can tell by this picture, by I changed the speed of the text box. THIS SHOULD BE A DEFINATE IN ANY FF HACK. That freakin' box is so slow. Now it pops up instantly, and closes instantly. No more waiting. I'm thinking of using the Respond Rate for something else.

The ground graphics are most likely going to change. This is just early works.

Race Against Time is currently on ice. I'm not sure when I'll return to it.

I'm also currently playing Final Fantasy IX. The only thing thats a pain in the ass in that game, is that the enemies don't give you a lot of EXP, so you have to fight constantly. And since I don't have tons of time, I used a GameShark.
