If I stay on this school I'll have VB in two years and a diplom that'll get me into any college in the land. BUT if I go to another school I'll be having VB and various other programming languages next year already, at the cost of a diplom worth less though. It's a dillemma, only "programming" we get is Excell, wich isn't really programming. And I'm so good at it that it's not funny.  |

Here ... I did some QBasic and Visual Basic at secondary school, then nothing at college (although I learned PHP and MySQL on my own during that time  ), and now at university, since I'm in computer science:
- C++
- SQL
- Java
- Scheme
And I program in Delphi at work 
Helping each other is perfectly fine here, I'm sure it's even encouraged since a lot of the work is normally done in groups (of 2 or 3) ... the only exception is exams, of course, and that's how I think it should be |

Some schools are very competitive and want you to treat every other student as competition. From what I hear, Perdue is a very high pressure campus because they have this sort of mentality. I technically have a degree from Perdue, though I attended IUPUI.

Wow I hope when I go to ITT-Tech they are not like that when I take a computer programming class. Thats cool that you are learning Java. |

At least my Network Administration class has some HTML, SQL, and Java...although that class isn't at the same school as my other classes, it's in a different school 15 miles away. |

I didn't get any programming language classes in high school either...but I was able to teach myself HTML. Java is a whole 'nother ball game, though. Why are the teachers so against students helping each other? I just don't get it... |

Heck I did go around and helped other people in the Delpi class. I found it so easy that it got boring. |

All we have is QBasic... which is so easy I want to throw up...
But the good thing about it is the teacher... likes me... and since I'm the first one done with all his assignments... he shows me other stuff (like packet-sniffing, stuff like that) and I'm helping him build a computer... so it's all good.... |

I once took a C++ programming class back in HS. What a joke! I read a book over the summer to have a head start and I knew more than the teacher when I started! She would always just copy the code from the text book and then make a comment like, "I'm not sure what's going on here, but this is what the textbook says to do." What a lamer she was! |

I have a Java class. I don't like how we would always be tested on stuff like knowledge and facts about things from the book, and having to write stuff, instead of doing actual code more. It's my fault though I guess, I don't study enough. |

My Comp. Sci. teacher isn't that strict, but he has a fairly large amount of knowledge about programming, so he's cool. What's NOT cool is when he's out, we usually get the 'Purple Sub' as our substitute. HOLY SHIT. She's also called Miss Bitch. I'm serious, she hasn't a clue what she's doing, she ALWAYS wears purple, all the time, annoys us, UGH! All schools have this sub.
Anyway, if the teacher accidently uploads a finished file on the network on accident, when it's program check time, he makes us code the program from scratch in like 5 minutes. It's cool!  (The one time he did this, I was the first to finish, but then, I'm like the top student in the class, afaik.) |
