I will Paypal anyone $5 if they can fix the fading bug. You would not believe the amount of crap I have had to switch around in my hack to work within the palettes.

Looks frickin awesome, especially the water levels.

Surely it wouldn't be too hard to fix that?

I actually just added the flying cheep-cheeps to w2-3 a few minutes ago.
I still have to add an extra 8x8 tile for the horizon on the OW.

i don't know any ASM. and i don't know where i can learn so i'm hafta trade my GFX (mostly YI GFX) for people to help me out with those 3.

And to the raven: i mentioned earlier in this thread that i'm remakin all 4 SMAS games, i'm not locking them on release so that people can hack them or steal all the GFX.

Speaking of poison mushrooms, are you doing any ASM hacking for your remake? I'm asking this because there are certain enemies in SMB that cannot be easily replaced in SMW. How are you handling hammer brothers, squids, and especially Bowser?

The new screens look nice, but doesn't 2-3 have jumping fish in it? Maybe I'm not remembering correctly. And in the overworld shots, there is a small line to the right of the big islands. That's typically used as the bottom edge of a ledge, and not used alone. Other than that, you're doing a fine job.

Try Lost levels next! Maybe mikeyk would help you with the poison mushrooms and stuff.
Looks very classy!

1: Even though I'm against rips, those are looking really good.
2: Suggestion: Give the levels real names. 1-1 could be called something like "1-1: First stomp", etc.
3: Ugh... I NEED to finish my SMB Status Bar patch, which changes the SMW status bar into the SMB one... No it's not just a graphics change. It accually moves stuff around. "WORLD" is the biggest problem, though... Maybe 12 custom blocks would be needed to add in order to set up the WORLD thinge... (Currently, it's changed to "LIFE"). Such a patch would make this hack look better.

and some shots of the overworld. i didn't design it, i just copied it from SMBDX.

Note these aren't final. eg there's grass behind the hill on the top-right of world 2, and i'm gonna change the border.

PS thanks Chris.

Wow! Looks really awesome Peter. First off lemme just say that the hack itself looks really cool. Reminds me of my Lost Islands hack. (Only Gfx from Smb3 mainly though). All your screens look very nice actually. But of course the status bar, that has to be changed. (As already mentioned in this thread so far).

The screens that mainly surprised me were the ones when he's underwater. You've really worked hard on this hack though. Keep up the great work.

You should do 0-1 thru 0-4, even though they don't exist. That would be awesome.

I'm very impressed, this is looking very promising. I really wish you would make some new levels also, it would be a nice addition to the original SMB levels, but this is your hack, so you choose what to do .

that's a good question, GoYo. I think these screenshots will answer it.

The water's surface is animated. and no, it's not just the one from SMW, i had to make it myself. it's identical to that in SMASSMB1.

And those green/blue seaweed things in the BG are animated too.

once again excuse the status bar.

I am looking forward to this. I have a question though, how are you handling the SMB water levels? They did have animated water and multiple layers, I believe. Did you manage to get the water levels to look like SMB?

I think you have to use a Hex Editor or ASM for it.
But I think you can set it in Mario World Reconfigurator to not pick up a shell.
I'm not sure though.

i've changed the GFX all the sprites now ie mushroom, flower, star, goomba, cheep cheep, koopa troopa and the pirhana plant to make them look just like they did in SMASSMB1. i think there's still a few left.

The status bar is under construction.

I've sorted out the problem with the fading screen at the end out the level.

and i have 2 questions: is there a way of removing the spin jump? and is there a way of removing the option to pick up a shell?

Wow, I'm pleasently surprised! I was expecting this to be some sort of vaporware project.

Looks good, except for the little pallete glitches. I'll be interested to see how the Spin Jump and various other SMW eccentricities work out in the SMB1 enviroment.

The reason the background isn't fading out completely is because SMW only fades the first 8 colors of each BG palette; obviously, the offending objects are using colors 8-F. There aren't any easy ways around that problem, unfortunately...do you maybe have some unused palettes you could remap those tiles to?

no, i don't plan on putting any new levels in the game. i'm saving my cutom levels for Mario_ac which is packed with YI GFX, and by the way, of the 5 games i'm making, Mario_ac is the only one i'm locking. i might release a demo of it soon.

in SMB1, i'm gonna use the overworld from SMB Deluxe.
I should release the full game sometime next week.

SMB TLL shouldn't be more than a week after SMB1, since it's basically the same game.

SMB3 is gonna take a while, but it shouldn't be too difficult to make.

SMB2? whoo now that's gonna be hard! it's nothin like the other games, loads of new blocks, and it's the only one i still don't have the music for. but unless i somehow miraculously make it before Feb. 15, i think Blackhole89'll be able to me out!

Those screens look quite good. Aside from the status bar problems, everything is looking good. I don't see too many rips from SMB1 in All-Stars, so I enjoy seeing those graphics, and your Mario rip seems perfect. However, since this is a remake, it'd be nice to see some new levels also. Maybe after world 8, or a bonus world. I don't know if you already planned this, but I do hope to see some new levels as well. What are you doing with the overworld, since there was none in SMB?
