I happen to back up my rom each and every time I make a major change, thank you very much. Kill all you like, nonexistant early release Solar Soundtrack, I have plenty more roms where that came from.

But don't tell the RIAA.

Um first off The Arkichef its not tommorow over here. We all dont go by the same time zone in case you didnt know.

And cpubasic13 yeah I dont want a good editor as well and all Im doing is getting excited since he said it would be released on Monday. Maybe I confused you with someone who said oh i cant wait release it early or something cause Im not.

...look, I want a functional editor. Not a crappy editor with a bunch of bugs that can cause a rom to crash. If you want something good, wait patiently for it or do it yourself. People like blackhole are actually helping us and all you can do is try to rush him. That is pretty much what happened with Halo 2 and look at it. More bugs than a insect museum.

I know what would happen too if blackhole kept the bugs in it. You would get it, be happy, and then the next day complain about some bugs and tell him to fix them right away or you won't know how to use it and complain it isn't user friendly (who used Eggvine? who complained there are no fancy graphics to help?). Besides, like anyone here cares that the user said there are bugs. You'd still complain about every little bug even if mentioned.

Look....it's tomorrow right now...and it hasnt been released. So why don't we all just stop bugging Blackhole89 about this, and wait until he thinks its ready? After all, it is his program

There's a MIDI based engine I'd been using in some homebrew stuff, but it's nothing spectacular, it basicly only supports note on/off and a few other simple commands but for what its worth, it's not half bad

is there a way of putting MIDI into the game? i mean any MIDI song, not just game music.

Jeez, how many times has this been asked? Importing music is for all intents and purposes impossible due to the SPC-700's and the engine's limitations. Under certain circumstances, importing a really simple MIDI might be possible, but it would be way difficult and probably sound like crap, and the SMW engine would pretty much have to be replaced.

So a complaint is the main reason someone wouldn't want to release their software in the works? Or the chance that it might mess up a hack, even without the fact that there is such a thing as a backup?

I was just stating that I'd rather have the buggy software now then have to wait longer for a few simple glitches to be worked out. Anyone who's hacked anything has had to work with buggy programs before. But that's just a preference, and I said that already.

Blackhole89 has stated that his program randomly crashes, and bugs up from time to time. If he goes ahead and releases it in this state, and it happens to mess up someone's hack or something, he'll get people complaining at him, even if he's stated that the software is slightly buggy.

If it were me, I'd hold back on the release until I was sure that it was relatively bug and glitch free. Not too many programmers would disagree with me on that one.

Hey, Blacky, don't rush yourself...getting the program nice and stable should take precedence over an early release. We've waited this long for a music editor, we can wait a little longer.

I disagree. I would rather have a buggy, half-working release right now then wait for a few stacks to be reorganized or a few crashes eliminated. Probably if he were releasing it to the general public it would be best to work these out, but this is Acmlm's board... a board centered around hacking software. I think everyone here has encountered enough crashed emulators here to handle a buggy Solar Soundtrack release. But that's just me.

Thanks for pointing it out. Actually I was heading for the end of the winter holidays, but I landed a wrong guess at when it should be (not the 15th, but the 20th, if you want to be very exact), since it is still half a week to go.
(i.e. I did need about one more week for it when I wrote that, and I was in skiing holidays during the first of the two weeks of holidays we have over here)

As I told peter_ac in a PM already, I am currently planning to give out a first release near the end of the German winter holidays (this should be around the 15th of February). SST already works more or less, but the frequent crashes and the general instability make it not really releaseable yet.

Don't get your hopes too high, it may be a day or more, or it may be much longer if he can't fix the crashes and such. I myself wouldn't care about working around those just so I can make some hand made tracks for SMW(and possibly other games with the N-SPC engine if he adds support in the future).

I do like the screenshot, though. Very nice layout; everything looks organized and such. Can't wait to try it! *drool*

Yes, there are some (as for the keyboard shortcuts).
