I'd have to agree with Joker. If you could space some of the background bush tiles a bit and add a background that makes the foreground stand out a bit more without it looking confusing, then you've got it made.

I'm not gonna totally ruin your faith though, it looks like you're on a roll and things are looking good nonetheless.
Creative and original is the way to go pal.

The level graphics are too busy, if ya know what I mean. I'm mainly referring to the sharp contrasts between colors and proximity of lines contained within the same object.

Wow, this is very good. One thing though, the OW trees, as Karadur said, try spacing them out. The Blisker fight looks cool
I am so gonna download this when you release it...

Would you find too confusing that each Area or level-theme had different things replacing those power-ups

If it was a change per level, then yes it may confuse some, but if it was per world, I think that would be pretty cool.

CAVES
Mushroom = Rock
Flower = Lava rock
Leaf = Rock with wings

FOREST
Mushroom = Hand drawn Mushroom
Flower = " " Flower
Leaf = " " Leaf

etc etc.


And I noticed that blik going behind the tree, but I thought it gave it depth. Maby if the tree went over the ground (like in some of the original forest levels in SMW) it wouldn't look as odd.

1.-As I said before, that corner on the third island is already fixed, Ill update the screenshot, too bad im not in my computer right now, But thanks a bunch for analyzing!

2.- All the gfx in this hack, except for Paolo, one detail or two and the 8-bit museums, where or are going to be drawn.

3.-Yes , the cake power-up replaces the mushroom, and a torch replaces the flower, and this leads me to a question

I think you should change the color of Paolo's clothes & hat. (Looks too much like Waluigi)

I, amazingly, agree with Craw about the Paolo letters. They should use the same font as "mario" did.

Comments:

1. This looks pretty good. That island cornor mentioned before needs to be fixed. Maby a shadow under the bridge? Black outline around the trees might look good. Ladders look awesome. The large cliff face in the bottom right looks bland. Will a ladder/vine be placed there on an event? The cornor tiles need to be placed. Its hard to explain, but there is supposed to be a tile placed where 2 tiles meet. Look at the top right most tree and directly below it, the grass tile is right at the edge, there is a tile that is supposed to be placed there to contine the green boarder.

2. Looks very good. Love the blocks. Maby add some clouds in the sky or something. It looks to NES-like in the BG. And are these rips or did you make them?

3. Looks good. Does that cake power-up replace the mushroom?

4. Looks good. The enimies look sort of like evil mildes.

5. Reminds me of the rock power up kirbies get...

6. Looks good.

7. Those ladders are amazing! And what do those ball enimies replace? Maby adding the clouds in this shot to the BG's of the other shots would look good.

8. That is an awesome idea. Good job!

I look forward to more shots, and a link... Hopefully you have some forest levels...

... It looks alright, I suppose. Nothing particularly good about it, but at the same time it isn't bad, either.

And the letters "PAULO" look poor.

Now this is looking very good The overworld, even though it's not finished looks pretty nice, although there's two small things that bother me. First is with the trees. Right now, it looks too plain, the way they're lined up straight, so if you're able to, it might look better to try spacing them out, or otherwise not having them in a straight line

The second thing, and you might have already noticed this, is the platform that the first set of three trees is on (coming from the left). The bottom right grass part on it doesn't look right, and to fix it, you'd want to use the slanted edge tiles, so it would match up with the slanted part that connects with the water. Hopefully that isn't too confusing

All the level screenshots look nice, and I was going to say something about the clear glass blocks in the third one, but then I realized you might have them there so you can see the trees through them I like the edited sprites as well. Nice work on those

I won't say anything about the screenshot of the 'Blisker', as I see you've already noted that it looks ugly, and you're going to fix it

The one on IPS patching is original, and I like it, even if it was just made for the sake of this thread

Overall, this is looking very good, in my opinion I hope to see more soon
